In retrospect maybe. Now that we have seen that Pitt is completely awful. Initially, you had to be impressed with back to back wins on the road vs ranked teams. Michigan was top 5. That's more impressive than an OT win @ ND when some of their luster has faded after we found out that Pitt is a joke. It's a double edged sword. It all ends up working out in the end. The voters knew Pitt was a joke when they moved up ND that high since Pitt lost to Ohio before the Michigan game. My point is that they can move ND high enough and drop Michigan low enough so that ND is higher than them in both polls after that victory, but not do the same when MSU beats ND.

I think she was referring to Cable companies dropping WGN, forcing people to pay to see those games. I haven't heard anything about it, and it certainly would've been noticed by someone around here if it was announced.

Notre Dame went from unranked to 10/12 in the polls after winning in Michigan, who fell to 14/14. Michigan State wins in Notre Dame, and goes from being unranked to 17/22, while ND drops to 16/18. That seems to be a contradiction of logic.

The Red Sox have already put him on waivers at least once. I think it's pretty clear they are willing to give him away. That's true, but the more time that goes by, the more manageable his contract becomes going forward. Just because they put him on waivers last year doesn't mean they'll be willing to do the same with another 20 million already paid to him. -
Like Atlanta, right? With, what, 7 rookies? Maybe it comes down to COACHING.... Coaching, and the ability of the players as well.

You don't think that the offense would be better with Murton in LF for a full year, and a middle IF with Walker, Nomar and Cedeno? Consider what our middle IF was this season for long stretches? Cedeno isn't the starter in that situation. Also, for the improvement made from Neifi to Nomar, Lee is likely to regress, removing some of that advantage.

The uncertainty with Murton is why we can't go into next season with him, Patterson, and Cedeno all in the same lineup. One is fine, two would be okay under the right circumstances, but all 3 would virtually guarantee a lack of improvement on offense.

Wouldn't you want the walk so that you get to the better hitter at the top of the order?

Looks like .368. That's super high, but it could come down 40 points or so and Murton would still be productive since he's still got a very high AVG overall. I know that in his early playing time he had a fair # of infield & dropped in the sun hits - his power seems genuine though! (BTW, where can I find batter BABIP?) I don't know that it's available at any site, I just calculated (H-HR)/(AB-HR-K) I'm not sure if that's completely correct, but it's close. EDIT: Forgot that sacrifices are added too. Murton has 1 SF and 2 SH, so it's only a small difference from the .368 figure.

Solid IsoP to start out his big league career. If he can keep that up even when his AVG goes down then he'll be fine in a corner OF spot.

McNabb to Owens, hahahahahahahahaha. I think they may outscore your entire team Vance. 49 points between the two of them less than 20 minutes into the game.

Yes that was a fun game. I've got a sweet farmer's tan going on now. Chase Coffman is my new favorite college player. While I really like Coffman, my favorite is Crossett. I wanted Coffman to lay out that defensive back that was jawing with him so badly though. He had about 7 inches and 30 pounds on the guy. EDIT: This week's sign of the apocolypse. Brad Smith took a snap under center. :shock: Crossett? Really, why's that? Great guy, but he's really not too good of a kicker. Way too inconsistent. Coffman is money though - he wont drop a ball all year. There's no particular reason, although he's perfect since the ASU game, which I don't think counts anyway :D. That OB kickoff was his first screw up of the season in that department, he's even a better punter than Hoenes. Basically I love yelling Crossett's name when he comes on the field, and being a soccer player I gotta pull for the kicker. Coffman should start over Rucker, he dominates the middle of the field.

Fields was a preseason All-American. I swear I'm going to go out for punter next season. I'd bet anything I'm better than half these D1 guys.
