  1. They make it look so easy....
  2. That was a pretty shady holding call.

  4. There should be a rule against picking an at-large team before the conference champion from that same conference. Then again, there should be a playoff. That begs the question: What eight teams would play in a playoff now? I'll assume a USC loss just for the sake of argument. 1 - Texas 2 - USC 3 - Penn St 4 - LSU 5 - Va Tech 6 - Ohio St 7 - ND 8 - Oregon That's how it would appear to stack up were we to use the BCS standings. Can you imagine? A USC/ND rematch in the quarterfinals? PSU/OSU going at it again in the quarterfinals? A possible ND/PSU matchup in the semis? Texas/LSU? WHY isn't there a playoff? its a shame there is no playoffs. Division I-AA has the playoffs and it ensures that there is one true champion. But thanks to all of the sponsors and everything, and the NCAA being too money hungry, we'll never see a playoff system in Division I-A. That's the thing I don't get. More games in the playoff should = more money. Surely having 3 extra games to make money makes up for the lost revenue of fans not knowing where the bowl game is a month in advance.
  5. Unfortunately for them, unless a whole lot of teams lose in the next week or two there is no chance of that happening. It'll be interesting to see. They aren't getting much of anything from computer polls at the moment, and if they get to the top 10 in the AP and Coaches polls, they might be knocking on the door.
  6. What about Fresno State getting an at-large? Their only loss is on the road to Oregon, and if they win out they'll have wins over 5 bowl eligible teams.
  7. Yeah, I can't see why they wouldn't still be on WGN.
  8. I may be wrong but I don't think a USC loss will help ND. It will take up another at large. Also if they do lose, will they move down any furthur than 2? I can't see USC falling below 2 in the BCS if they lose this one as long as they don't look too bad doing it. Even so I think O$U would be the odd man out and not ND in that situation, even though that's kind of unfair to the Buckeyes. Haha, just a little. Although O$U getting shafted is far from a terrible thing. somebody's jealous somebody = cpatterson20 Terribly, it's been a bad sports day.

  10. The first sentence here was tongue-in-cheek, while the second is completely objective. There really isn't any room for mischaracterization. It may be objective but it wasn't accurate. The Dodgers sent LoDuca, Mota, and Encarcion to Florida. They received Penny back along with Choi and a prospect, who is still on their roster. It is like saying Alex Gonzalez was a target in the Nomar trade in 2004. I'm sorry, I forgot which team Penny was with first. Regardless, the point remains that Choi was used to get good players in two different deals, no one gave up on him.
  11. The Dodgers received Penny in the trade, and he was the principle target. Choi was a throw in. The Marlins were dumping salary, they did not target Choi. I either case they were not targeting Choi, it just worked out that way. My point is that teams didn't trade Choi to get rid of him. He was dealt in order to get valuable players.
  12. Apparently the Marlins gave up on Derrek Lee in order to get him, and the Dodgers gave up on LoDuca and Penny in a deal he was in as well. No one cut Choi, he was used in two different trades to acquire good players.
  13. But what if it's more like their career numbers, 20 points of OBP v. 85 points of SLG?
  14. That was the most Irish completion in NCAA history. Did you leave a word out or am I missing something? Heritage.
  15. Michigan State got blown out at Hawaii, 84-62. Days like this it's not so great to be a sports fan. Hopefully they'll bounce back and have a good showing at Maui. According to the recap they had some cramping issues, so much that they had 4 freshman on the floor for parts of the final 10 minutes.
  16. Mizzou recovers a fumble at their own 1!!! That's gotta be the third time this season that's happened. And give up a safety on the next play. :x
  17. Yeah where the hell was the defense on that drive? I was playing NCAA simultaneously, but that Roughing the Passer was huge. It might have been after a failed 3rd down.
  18. 23 yd TD run for KSU, the lead is cut to one score.
  19. TD Mizzou! Ekwewekru, or however you spell it. 28-14 Mizzou.
  20. The game's not on TV, is it? No I'm getting updates on Yahoo.com. It's really slow, but it gets the job done. Can't get KMOX back home? AM 1120 if you can get it. Penalties galore, yet Mizzou's up a TD at the half. Coffman and Rucker have both been great thus far.
  21. I agree, I added ERA+ to show their ERA's were similar, since I just wanted to come up with something quick.
  22. I was satisfied with Williams production last year as a 5th man, don't get me wrong. But Williams is a far cry from the production of Lowe or Morris at this point in the game. And it's a fact that quality pitching will when you more games than offense. Yes, I think our offense/outfield needs to be addressed first. But, I think both issues could be solved within our budget. And a rotation of: Prior Z Wood (barring a healthy season) Maddux Morris / Lowe .....would be absolutely devastating! Williams as a Cub: 3.91 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 109 ERA+ Lowe: 3.61 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 113 ERA+ Morris: 4.11 ERA, 1.27, 104 ERA+ That doesn't look like a far cry at all. In fact, he was better than Morris.
  23. Cavs roll at home over Orlando tonight. They're undefeated at home, with an average margin of victory near 20 points. Big game tomorrow at Philly.
  24. Syracuse and Florida is a whale of a game, great action and great plays abound. Florida up 5 with under 5 to play.
  25. Do Arbitration eligible players count against the 40-man before they get their new contracts? Z, CPat, Hairston, and Macias being arby eligible fixes the lack of spots if they don't.
