  1. Am I the only one that noticed Patterson has a higher projected OPS than Pierre(.716 to .710)? That 52/74 SB ratio isn't very exciting either. Of course, I don't put a whole lot of stock into these projections, but it's interesting to point out.
  2. HE NEEDED SURGERY. How can any outings, nevermind however many there actually were, be trivial? That outing set the surgery back what a few days?? The doctor's said he wouldn't hurt the arm any further. Apparently, all those years of Medical School paid off. He pitched in relief for all of August. I'd like that month back now that the prognosis of "he'll definitely be ready by opening day" has changed to "he definitely won't be ready by opening day". Well, that's a different point now. My "trivial comment" was in regard to the appearance on 9/29 after Lawton had been dealt. Yes, nealry a whole month isn't trivial, and I'd like those 24 days back too, but I didn't want to concede w/ 53 games to go. Wood had some awesome appearances out of the pen. Not letting your big contract pitcher who needs surgery pitch in the bullpen, which he hasn't done in his career, isn't conceding the season. Even then, we didn't have much of a shot at all. Wood wasn't going to push us over the top from the pen throwing 10-25 innings out of the pen.

  5. I recall plenty of people calling it idiotic during the fact.
  6. Don't worry, you'll find out when the Chase Connection rips through the Fighting Zooks next fall.
  7. Hahaha, Arkansas State. Mizzou beat them 44-17, I'm fairly certain USC would score 100 points.
  8. its not "on" until January 5. http://www.spartantailgate.com/forums/images/smilies/king.gif However, as a Mizzou student, it's "on" in about 45 hours.
  9. Don't worry....Dusty will take of that problem for you in regards to Murton. Mabry will be playing LF for the majority of the games until he hits below 200 and then he'll just platoon with Murton. You are a sick, sick man. Me or Dusty? There is no doubt in my mind if Mabry hits 270 or above he will be the starting LF for the Cubs in 06 and get at least 450 AB's. If Mabry is hitting above .270, he could be a decent player.[/i] No better than Murton's likely to be. If Mabry's hitting .270, then he's probably going to be around a .270/.335/.425 line, give or take. We can get that from Murton with the chance that he could be better.
  10. They become free agents. If we do tender them, they are guaranteed contracts. If the team can't work out a deal by a certain date, an arbitrator decides between 2 figures(one submitted by the team, one by the player) for a one year deal.
  11. Great? He pitched a total 28 innings in the Cubs system, posting a 3.86 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP. We all have our own definition of great, but I'm sure most would agree that that isn't "great." 28 innings doesn't sound right to me. Are you sure? Not entirely. That's just what baseball cube shows, I don't know of any other sites that list minor league stats. This doesn't have as many players as TBC, but still: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/player_list.asp

We all have our own definition of great, but I'm sure most would agree that that isn't "great." 28 innings doesn't sound right to me. Are you sure? That's what the Baseball Cube says, but it's missing his 2001, where he pitched 93 innings for Boise, with a WHIP of almost exactly 1.00 and a 2.98 ERA. Wasn't 2001 the year the Baseball Cube was missing for Nic Jackson too?
  13. Wasn't Willis something like the 4th best starter in the Lansing/Boise rotation before he was traded? I can't blame him for trading Willis, although what he used Willis to acquire can be debated.
  14. Boxing is not a sport because the outcome is determined by a judge? Okay then. Correct. It's also why figure skating and most of the Winter Olympics are not sports.
  15. You're exaggerating to say the least. How can two prospects that haven't been able to pitch well outside of AA be worth more than Juan Pierre? I realize that "worth" is subjective to a degree but let's look at this objectively; Juan Pierre is a more than servicable Major Leaguer who has helped to contribute to a WS victory. One can argue that there are more effective CF's but that isn't the point, he isn't the worst CF either. Plus, the Cubs weren't the only team looking to trade for him (which can point to his worth). That's certainly one way to describe Pinto and Nolasco. Another would be "two prospects with good stuff who dominated AA at age appropriate levels".
  16. Only to people who sorely devalue Pierre. You say sorely devalue, I say realistic assessment.
  17. While I am not sure what the (2) does mean, I am fairly certain it does not mean "twice" or "two times". First, they only list one inning. Second the are some (1)'s on the list, if that only meant "one time" why would they ever put (1)? Finally, every single time a (2) is present, there is only one "victim" listed. If it were an indicator or "two in the same game" I have a hard time believing every time somebody pulled the trick twice in the same game, it was always on the same runner both times. That's true, but I thought I remember reading earlier in the season that he got caught twice in the same game.
  18. Twice in the same game, I still can't get over how hilarious that is. I bet Brock did it as a joke the second time. "I think to myself, there can't possibly be another Starbucks behind me. Nobody could be that stupid."
  19. Regardless of whether Nolasco or Pinto pan out, they were/are still worth more than Pierre at the time of the trade.
  20. Buy one of those huge coats the team wears and jump on the sidelines. Just hope Grossman doesn't get hurt.
  21. Lofton in Dodger Stadium will not go well. Good thing they have 3 OF's better than him for when he collapses.
  22. His work at the end of this year and in the AFL are pretty sufficient proof that he still has his stuff.
  23. You're right! Im thinking maybe because 2 minute warning hadnt came yet? The play started before the 2 minute warning. Just an idea I really dont know. It's actually happened in 3 different games I've seen in the past 8 days, which is weird since I'd never seen it before. edit: I mean a challengee on a play that started before the 2 minute warning but ended inside 2 minutes It's how the Saints got cheated against the Rams when the Rams player grabbed the ball from the Saints player's hands when he was laying on the ground. Haslett was out of timeouts and/or challenges, and even though there was less than 2 minutes, the two minute warning hadn't happened, which meant the booth couldn't challenge.
  24. Please have a lot of fantasy points Warrick Dunn. A LOT.
