  1. Career minor league numbers: .332/.428/.539/.967, at age appropriate levels, but he's never been young for a league.
  2. If you go to the bottom of the forums, between the last one and the "Who is online" information, you'll see a link to "mark all forums read". That should be what you're looking for.
  3. Tonight in my boredom I was arranging some bookmarks, and adding some for our minor league teams, where I stumbled upon BA's great statistics page. This year they have included a schedule/results page, which is very handy. In this page they have links to the box score, game log, and post-game wrap(when available) for every game. When I stumbled upon this resource, I wondered if we could put this to good use. The one thing I came up with was using the logs and boxes to calculate splits for our minor leaguers. Nothing too complex, just a couple that would be useful in evaluation, like Left/Right and Home/Away. Would anyone be interested in doing something like this? All it would take is taking a couple minutes the day after every game to calculate and update, and if we wanted someone(me?) could come up with a spreadsheet to make it easier to input and update. If we could get a person or two on each of our teams, we could really make this a great resource. Also, I know with our access to the Jaxx this year, we may be able to get this data already, which may eliminate the necessity to maintain something like this for them. So if you're interested, or have another idea of that sort(hit/spray charts for hitters? :P ) let's hear it in this thread.
  4. That's what I was thinking, the only way they stand a chance is if one or both can't go for several games in the series. The Cavs could be neck in neck for the 3rd seed(and therefore postponing a meeting with Detroit until the conference finals) with New Jersey if it weren't for the ridiculous rules about division leaders getting the top 3 seeds. Instead it's just a matter of who is the 5 seed they face.
  5. Look down a couple threads.
  6. Tangentially, one of my biggest pet peeves is when people accuse players of "trying to hit home runs all the time".

  8. No. Make a post during the pregame show or during the Jaxx game in the minor league game thread. Ack, so complex. Thanks for the correction.
  9. So this is the thread where we enter? If so, consider my name thrown in the mix.
  10. To me that's a touch different than the first incident. The first time it was a line drive, the second one was a high fly ball that was pretty much caught if it didn't get out. He should run regardless, but there's a difference.
  11. 5 Appearances 7 IP 2 Hits 0 Walks 11 K's 2 Saves
  12. Cabrera gives me a new best of 5.
  13. That's not really, really, really good or anything is it? I dunno, but .310/.415/.833 is definitely better.
  14. I'm not sure what's strange; he was ineffective and as a result, sent down. It's not like he's a guy with a long track record to fall back on. Perhaps if the Cubs rotation was solid they could afford for him to find himself on the 25 man roster but, as it stands, they can ill afford to keep him around. Wuertz had one bad outing, that doesn't make him ineffective. People are getting hung up over his meaningless spring numbers and forgetting that he was an effective reliever with peripherals pointing towards him being even better this year. He had two iffy outtings. The first was his relief of Marshall in St. Louis. The second was in Pittsburg (0.0 IP, 2 ER). Add that to a horrible spring. Wuertz has the stuff, but it isn't there right now. That STL outing was fine. Pujols made a great play for a single, and a groundball was in the right spot for Rolen to get an infield single. Then he pitched 2 IP, 2 K's w/ only a walk, no flyballs in either outing. Then he blew up against Pittsburgh. If we sent every reliever down who had a sequence of outings like that, our pen would be a revolving door.
  15. Eyre has the fewest outings in the bullpen except for Wuertz, who was sent down. Yea but he its because hes having him go 2 innings at a time right now, and throwing alot of pitches each time out. Where is he in innings compared to our other relievers? 6.2 IP, about the same as Williamson, Dempster, and Howry. His total number of pitches is comparable too.
  16. Great move, I just hope Dusty doesnt let him rot out there. Let the kid pitch, dont let him jsut sit for 7-8 days then bring him in. Good luck David! He'll play right away. Gotta give Howry and Eyre some rest! Good to see Novoa hold his own today. 7-4 so far. A lot better then I thought they'd be at this point the season. I was just hoping and praying for .500! Keep it up guys! I wouldnt be so sure about that. Dusty likes to ride the hot hand in the bullpen. Just look at Weurtz, he sat out there for long stretches already, and then gets brought in and stinks up the joint. Not saying its all Dustys fault for Weurtz performance, but not pitching regularly is not a good thing with bullpen guys. Dusty did the same thing to Welly last year letting him sit for 12 days or so, then bring him in, and go figure he was wild. Weurtz sat because Dusty didn't have a lot of confidence in him. If Wuertz had been effective during ST and in his earlier appearances, he would have seen more action and perhaps been given the benefit of the doubt when he struggled during the season. Dusty is known to ride the hot hand, and let the last guy in the pen rot out in the pen for numerous games. He has done it numerous times with young pitchers coming up for the first time. All I know is Aardsma needs work while he is here, and Dusty needs to get away from using Eyre so much. I understand why Dusty has used him alot, but at this pace his arm is going to fall off by July. We have a very good bullpen right now, however with our starters the way they are right now, we need to use EVERYBODY that is out there or else our pen will be in shambles come July. Eyre has the fewest outings in the bullpen except for Wuertz, who was sent down.

  18. This sentiment towards Wuertz is downright strange.
  19. How does a team have David Weathers for a closer?
  20. Look at Zito and Williams's numbers over the last 3 years. When you consider their ages, the time under team control, the salary they'll command, and the team's current pitching depth, I don't think it's worth it.
  21. another pitcher... please dump Bynum and bring up Restovich
  22. Does advancing the runner really matter that much in that situation? Aside from a WP or an infield single(not very likely with Ramirez up), anything that scores Pierre from 3rd would score him from 2nd. It matters. Sac flies are our friend. Lee was the second out. hooray Todd
