Wait, we're still talking about Demspter, right? Ryan Dempster? The player with the 2.57 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 3.80 K/BB, .186 BAA, and .498 OPS against? That Ryan Dempster? I may not even be a Triple-A [bleep], but I can tell that those numbers are keeping him in the big leagues.

All three were the trade for Pierre. No, Nolasco, Pinto, and Mitre were dealt for Pierre, Wellemeyer got shipped off for a minor leaguer before the season.

Wilson! That's another name for the big corner OF bat scenario in the other thread. If the Pirates are considering moving him, you go after him. It's as simple as that. -
FTR, this isn't a Koronka type situation with Nolasco. He was a good(if under the radar) prospect that dominated AA last year at age 22. He has good stuff and good control, although neither are plus-plus. What a nightmare of a trade.

Then use Murton or Church in a deal for a good RF, and let Jones play CF. I like it. Or if we can trade pitching for a good RF at the all-star break, I wouldn't be opposed to getting a good RF, a Jones/Murton platoon, and Church in CF. One of the writers at BP (I forget which one - Sheehan maybe) envisions circumstances in which Philly would trade Abreu for Maddux. That scenario would require Maddux to pitch more like he did in his first few starts than his last few starts, and I do believe that Abreu is at the beginning of his decline, but that would be a no-brainer if it were possible. Actually, now that I think of it, we don't have to get a new RF in that scenario, since Church is defensively capable of handling it. That way we don't have to avoid the Pat Burrells of the world because of defensive shortcomings. And since we're obviously dreaming, who would we target? Gomes, Abreu, Burrell, Geoff Jenkins, Carlos Lee, Mench, Kearns?

If I'm not mistaken, it only pushed the pitcher's spot back one lineup position, too. Well it's an important one, since the pitcher was due up first this inning. Wouldn't want to only use Bynum once when you can take out one of the guys on the team that can get on base.
