No sh*t? I was told that there was some sort of combine thing held in the midwest, but I didn't believe it  Just because someone was drafted high doesn't mean that they were worth of that pick. Kyle Boller was selected higher than Grossman in the same year, so he's better than Grossman isn't he? you can both stick your eyerolls. you too apparently are just trying to get into a pissing match with me. so for some reason all these Florida QBs are capable of fooling NFL scouts. whatever. the obvious point was Grossman had skills that other Florida QBs didn't. IMO your arguments use way too many assumptions. All serious football fans I know have their calendars marked for the NFL Combine, campus workouts, and pre-draft visits. It is well known that teams go over players with a fine-tooth comb before the draft. Teams do draft by what they see at the combine and at workouts, but that doesn't always mean that they're right. How often does a WR's 40-yard dash time affect his draft position? Kyle Boller can throw a football through the uprights from the 50-yard line off of his knees. He's got a strong arm and good measurable, but it doesn't make him a good NFL QB. I can't really recall Grossman ever showing much of an arm. I don't think he'll ever be capable of making strong, accurate passes downfield. Does that mean I think he's incapable of being an NFL QB? No. But it will limit him to being a WCO QB and not much more though.
  2. from this thread is what made me start this thread. When I read UM's post, I took it to mean that it allowed another young player to get a shot at the rotation instead of a struggling Prior. I didn't find anything about the post to be complaining about that rotation whatsoever.

Not quite sure what you're trying to do with this considering I didn't bring up Billy Volek. do you think I am incapable of clicking on other threads? you just agreed in another thread that Volek is a decent QB. in this thread you say Grossman and Griese aren't NFL quarterbacks. I have no idea what criteria you are using to assess NFL quarterbacks other than who their college coach was. I suspect you just have something up your butt about the Bears and that is the basis for this entire discussion. I haven't seen Grossman play this year, but I would take both Volek and David Garrard over him. I'm highly skeptical of any QB that comes out Florida, and Grossman is also a bit short IMO.
  5. I've seen threads talking about Prior, who hasn't been one of the "young" players we've been wanting in the rotation. I haven't seen anything griping about Hill, Marmol, Mateo, or Guzman yet.
  6. After a rough first, Marshall has calmed down. Here's his line for now: 3IP, 2H, 3R/2ER, 2/5 K/BB, 7-0 GO-FO, 65 pitches-32 strikes Somebody names Hugo Castellanos has replaced him in the bottom of the 4th.
  7. The best question and answer from the whole session IMO:
  8. Gooz hasn't produced enough to justify this, his name got him here. Once we're back to full strength, he'll be back in Iowa to prove himself
  9. I wonder if Farny is related to Ivan from "How High?"

I've been away momentarily, tell me what Hester has done. Nothing big, but he's made a lot of guys miss on his returns. It's gonna be nice to have a guy back there who knows how to return kicks. Agreed. Hopefully he can cover dudes. I wouldn't expect much from him in that regard. I was actually surprised that he went so high in the draft because he's so raw. Going back and forth between CB, WR, RB, and Ret have really hurt his development IMO and he'll need a year atleast to start showing his potential.

Reading this gets me excited for football season. It's been too long since I've seen the Cowboys play.

I don't know if anyone watched the Pats-Falcons game, but the Atlanta's kicker tonight was awesome. I've never heard of him before (I believe his name was Koenen), but he was 4-4 in the game on FG's beyond 40 yards, handled KO duties, and also did a very nice job punting as well.
  13. According to game day the assist was at home...maybe he should try out as a kicker for an NFL team? I have to see this throw and who was running. I would be embarrassed if I were the 3rd base coach....may he live in shame on SportsCenter. Holliday was running, he's a pretty big boy but he's also got decent speed. Maybe he fell going around third, then decided to tease Pierre by crawling home so Pierre ran the ball home instead?? I have to believe the Ball was a sharp single. Why do the Cubs always have Monty Burns type arms in the OF? Some kid named Patterson had a pretty good arm, but his production was starting to get too good.
  14. He's got 5 less than Hill does tonight :)

  17. Did Dopirak get re-injured, or did they just shut him down for the year due to his lack of production and inability to generate any power off of his hurt ankle?

Is the Bears' game only being shown on local cable in Illinois? The only game on right now for me is the Pats-Falcons game, and it's rather boring right now.
  19. Am I reading this right? Was Pierre playing in close from 1B or something?
  20. Ha...good one Jon! Maybe Dusty should bring a lawyer since he doesn't speak english too well. That might work, but Dusty can't argue his way out of a wet paper sack.
  21. You're so ugly he was having a hard time even looking at the plate
  22. Great. We already wasted an early first rounder last year on a punk (Pacman Jones) return man. I was afraid when we took LenDale something like this would happen. Oh well, at least there will be a little action this season as we take our learning curve to a 4-12 season again. At least we've got Vince Young. It'll be fun to watch him around the second half of the year. Is Vince Young the starter this year? He probably won't open the season as the starter, Billy Volek is a pretty good QB and has a solid base in that offense. Young probably will become the starter at some point but he still has several adjustments he needs to make to his game to adapt it to the pro level.
  23. Wow, I could only imagine trying to track a fly ball in those type of winds. I've had dust devils pop up when we played on dirt fields that made tracking a fly ball darn near impossible.
  24. I think at this point fans should start thinking about Prior like they should think about Wood: Hope that he regains his earlier form, but don't expect it. Well if he goes the Wood route, we could have back end of the game with Prior and Wood...that would be pretty nasty if they were even close to healthy.
  25. As long as he becomes Anderson's cellmate, I'm all for it.
