  1. Beautiful curve to K the first batter.
  2. In the second half of the year our top offensive prospects have really turned it up. Let's hope that Pie, Dopirak, and Harvey can all continue their hot streaks.
  3. Huseby sighting in Mesa! He got the start going 2IP 1H 4/0 K/BB 0-1 GO-FO and only faced 6 batters. They're up 5-1 through 4 innings thanks to a 3 rbi Rundle double, and 2 doubles and 2 rbi for Parker.
  4. I'm not a big expert on the draft so I can't really project where he'd go, but Horton(the UNC SS) didn't declare because he isn't old enough. He was a Sophomore this year, so if he wants he can enter next year if he wishes. so once you enter college you have to stay until after your junior year? Sophomores who are 21 or older (or within 45 days of 25) are eligible too. This is how Tim Lincecum was eligible last season too. Otherwise, you have to be a JUCO (any age) or a junior/senior in college. I don't know if it's a wise idea to have Miller up in September, no matter how he does in the minors. It's definitely not a good idea to have him relieve in the minors now itself (whether or not he's a reliever this September). He'd do better to get all the innings he can get now. I thought the rule was that any player 3 years removed from his high school graduation was eligible to enter the draft?
  5. I hadn't really given him much thought, but I did some searching and found some interesting stuff. There's so much crazy stuff I'll let you read the article for yourself: STORY
  6. Happy St. Petrick's Day to everyone!
  7. I remember when he was promoted to Daytona it was said that he would be primarily a bench player, but Daytona has played 42 games since his promotion and he's been in 36 of them so he's getting a good amount of playing time. His BABIP is fairly high at .333 and he hits a ton of ground balls so I think he'll have a hard time maintaining his numbers. His home/road splits, Park Adjusted stats, and MLE stats aren't too pretty either.
  8. YES indeed it would be. I'm totally pro BARE BARE. Among other concerns, I hope Dusty sees that he gets enough atbats; given that he's the best hitter on the team, that shouldn't be a problem. According to Yahoo he needs 331 PA's to qualify, and with just the AB's and walks he's got 318. I don't know how many sacrafices he's got but he's closing in on being qualified rather quickly.
  9. Only two catchers PERIOD have won the batting title, put that into perspective, and they won them over 50 years ago. Another cool thing would happen if MB could win the batting title, it would make the second season in a row that a cub has won it (Derrek last year) Wouldn't it be pretty awesome for Mauer and Barrett to win in it the same year?
  10. Sorry I misread your post. For some reason I thought you were trying to say he was a power hitter with little patience. I guess that's what I get for being in a hurry and not reading very well.
  11. Harvey has the same number of walks but 40 more K's. Gomez appears to be more of a speedster with less power than Harvey as well.
  12. In the month of July his K/BB rate was 19/6. In August it has been 3/2.
  13. wasnt he there at one point? then he started slumping or something- i could quite possibly be wrong though. I don't think his bat fits there IMO. He is patient at the plate, but I think his productive potential would be better utilized lower in the order. If he learns how to pick his pitch instead of going after pitcher's pitches, he could be dangerous. The power will come but for now he's still a good line-drive hitter.
  14. While I would rather see the Cubs stay low in the rankings and collect the draft pick, I think at this point a 3rd place finish could be easily had. Everyone above us has gone .500 or less in the last 10 games while the Cubs have gone 7-3. How would everyone feel if we did finish 3rd, and how would that affect our offseason?
  15. He increased his average 9 points, and his OPS by 29 points, lets hope he can keep this up.
  16. Should have been 6 RBI if Pagan knew how to run the bases. I know! How can Pagan, who's blazing fast, not score from second on a double. Pagan's comps show he could develop into a good player, but I'm not sure why he's on the major league team right now. It's not as if he had nothing left to prove in the minors. I don't think he's a rule 5 guy. I think they picked him up because he doesn't have any options left. I could be thinking about Freddy Bynum though. I believe that Pagan made his debut with the Cubs so I don't know why he'd be out of options.
  17. DaVanon flies out to Pagan to end the game, Mateo gets the win in his debut.
  18. Tracy grounds out to Neifi, only one more out to get.
  19. Easely bounced back to Dempster, Drew was looked back to the bag and Easely was out at first. Tracy PHing now.
  20. Drew with a double that hit the bullpen mound in left and kicked to the wall.
  21. They got the ball back in pretty quickly and Speier held him up. Pagan has been pretty go so far IMO. His defense is pretty good off the bench, his speed is useful, and his bat is improving. As a bench guy he's about what you could expect.
  22. Estrada is getting beat up behind the plate right now.
