He isn't a lead-off hitter though. He can lay down a bunt and use his speed, he can hit with power, but it's just not him. He always seemed out of his element at the top of the order. When the Orioles have used him in the 6th or 7th spot this year, he's done much better.

For which position? I think it's hard to compare arm strength of leadoff hitters if they're playing different positions.

When Sisco was down in the minors, he only appeared in 3 game and all were relief appearances. While I agree he should be given a shot to start, obviously KC does not.

No, the was the ball was already over the stands when he caught it. Look at the August 11th highlights here; the first highlight is of Lowell getting hit in the head and the last has his diving play.

I didn't even know Lowell made a great catch. But Jeter's is shown every freaking month it seems. Go figure. Lowell also made his catch only a little while after getting plunked in the head and staying in the game.

I hope Ceda turns out to be something, but right now his GO-FO tendencies really scare me. With the Padres his GO-FO ratio was 9-27, and with the Cubs it's 2-5. He's had good K/BB numbers, and his OPS against is good too but eventually players will start hitting balls where the fielders aren't. His BABIP against is .300 is average I'd say, but I don't see how he'll be able to keep giving up this many flyballs and not get punished for it somewhere down the road.

Junior Glymph has actually looked really good tonight as well. He's had 2 sacks and 2FF's that I've caught. Ellis did a much better job than I was expecting against the pass and when covering the QB when he rolled out of the pocket. I think the move will work pretty good, but our LB's are pretty stacked right now. Ellis, James, Shanle, and Ware got the start but we've also got Carpenter, Ayodele, Singleton, and Burnett as well. I really don't care about the offense, this defense is getting me jacked up already. I think ya'll are going to like Kevin Burnett. At Tennessee, he was the best player on some very solid defenses. He plays very hard and was beginning to get some comparisons to perhaps the greatest linebacker to ever play at Tennessee, Al Wilson. While I don't think he'll ever get that good, I think he'll be a starter for ya'll for a very long time. I look forward to seeing what BSU alum Justin Beriault can do for you guys too, as Parcells had him on track to play a lot of minutes at SS before he suffered a season ending injury last year. He hasn't been playing lately. He had microfracture surgery in the offseason, and he also had some sort of surgery to shorten his fibula I believe so that when he moves his knee it wears on a different part now. Apparently there's no cartilage left in his knee and it was swelling up badly, and this is a surgery commonly used to put off a complete knee replacement. He had been doing alright in camp though he suffered a concussion about a week ago and hasn't been back to practice since. There was some speculation that he knee wasn't responding well, but Parcells has said that his knee is doing fine. Also, no matter what Beriault probably wouldn't have played much last year. Roy is the SS and he rarely misses a snap.

He's flashed quite a bit of skill, but a hip injury early in the season didn't help and then he tore his ACL near the end of his season. Right now he's stuck behind Ware at the ROLB (weak side). I think that Carpenter will ultimately affect what happens with Burnett. Ware and James are locks at ROLB and LILB respectively; Carpenter has been working at both RILB and LOLB. I believe that eventually Carpenter will be the starter at LOLB, which leaves Burnett to battle with Ayodele at RILB. Unfortunately Burnett will probably be the odd man out for right now with both Singleton and Ellis at LOLB, Ayodele with the rather large FA contract, and Carpenter as a mid-first rounder this past year. It really is too bad, but Bill does like his style of play and will find a spot for him somewhere.

Unfortunately TO is still out, Glenn has been out since the 1st quarter with an ice pack on his foot, and Crayton sprained his ankle (the same one he broke last year, no less :(). Sam Hurd has look pretty good, though he's dropped atleast 2 passes. The best think for the offense is that we haven't given up a sack all night. Greg Ellis also looked pretty nice tonight at the LOLB spot.

IMO your arguments use way too many assumptions. All serious football fans I know have their calendars marked for the NFL Combine, campus workouts, and pre-draft visits. It is well known that teams go over players with a fine-tooth comb before the draft. Teams do draft by what they see at the combine and at workouts, but that doesn't always mean that they're right. How often does a WR's 40-yard dash time affect his draft position? Kyle Boller can throw a football through the uprights from the 50-yard line off of his knees. He's got a strong arm and good measurable, but it doesn't make him a good NFL QB. I can't really recall Grossman ever showing much of an arm. I don't think he'll ever be capable of making strong, accurate passes downfield. Does that mean I think he's incapable of being an NFL QB? No. But it will limit him to being a WCO QB and not much more though. I never said they were always right, but the Grossman pick is still an Inc. if you ask me for his grade. and the only assumption I made is that a QB can't be assessed on who his college coach was. how smart is it assuming a QB can't succeed in the NFL because of who his college coache was and his height? if there was any nonsensical assumption in this discussion it was you and soccer making this claim. of all the things you mentioned, you failed to discuss the intelligence and psychological tests QBs in particular go through. Jeff George could throw the ball 80 yards with the flick of his wrist, but he was an obnoxious moron. same could be said for Ryan Leaf. Grossman scored highly on these tests. if Grossman only succeeds in a west coast offense, so be it. I'm not looking for him to succeed in a non-west coast offense, nor are the Bears. His college coaches have a large part in his development as a player though. That's like saying that Cubs' system is failing to produce quality players because we draft stupid players when infact it's because of a flawed coaching philosophy. Short QB's often are not success in the NFL because of the size of the OL they play behind. If he does a good job of finding the lanes it won't be much of a problem, but he'll probably have more problems seeing the field than a QB who is say 6'4". George may not have been very bright, but he was still able to turn his skills into a 12-year NFL career where he played in atleast 13 games in seven seasons. Physical ability will carry someone further in the NFL than smarts can. Intelligence will help, but without the physical skills it isn't going to do a player much good. Craig Krenzel was supposed to be a brainiac but didn't turn out to be much of a QB. Grossman will work for the Bears' needs right now, but if they ever change offensive systems he won't be of much use most likley.
