  1. I would really love to see a Maddux, any one of our relievers, and Scott Moore for Betemit and a prospect. I'm not sure how Betemit would be defensively at SS, but I'd like him to play there with Ronny at 2B until we know for sure what happens with ARam.
  2. This is the 2nd time this series the benches have cleared I do believe. Last time was when Pina hit someone who had previously hit 2 homers off of him in the game.
  3. Adam Piatt I'm not sure if he qualifies. I remember a few years ago he had a K-Swiss shoe commercial and was pretty highly touted but then fell off the face of the earth.
  4. Prior was only at 76 pitches....Is he injured or did Baker just pull him because he's struggling?
  5. A solo shot from Mabry brings the Cubs within 1.
  6. The offense is actually still clicking....I wonder how long this can last?
  7. I'm only watching on gameday so mabye I'm missing something, but it seems to me that he's doing pretty good he's just having a hard time finishing batters off.
  8. Wow Carrillo has had an excellent day. In his first start of the year he's gone 8IP 8H 2R (2 solo homers) 10/2 K/BB ratio. Is that the longest outing for a Mesa starter so far? Easily. His long start worries me a little bit. He's faced 33 batters so far so I'm assuming he's thrown quite a few pitches, and according to their roster he's only 19....seems like a rather large risk with such a young arm that hasn't even started a game this year before today.
  9. Wow Carrillo has had an excellent day. In his first start of the year he's gone 8IP 8H 2R (2 solo homers) 10/2 K/BB ratio.
  10. Hardy is gone for the year with ankle surgery. He had a high ankle sprain in May I believe and they've since decided that he did enough damage to one of the ligaments in his ankle that it required surgery.
  11. Maybe one of the steals for the Cubs so far is 49th round pick Ryne Malone. So far in 21 games for Peoria he's hitting .319/.417/.514/.931 with 9 doubles, a triple, and a homer. He's also shown good discipline at the plate with an 11/9 K/BB ratio, and he's shown the ability to play both 2B and 3B so far. At only 21 years old he's also at a pretty age-appropriate league.
  12. I think that at this point Gallagher is the better prospect. He's younger and he's having success at a more advanced level. Both have good FB's and some developed secondary pitches, but both have also had control problems. Veal being LH does help, but he's still not quite to Gallagher's level IMO.
  13. Keep your eye on Joseph. He is repeating at Boise, but he is still young for the league. I think this kid could be a real find. How is his defense? With his size he doesn't seem like he'd fit the typical RF mold; I'm assuming with his speed he can cover alot of ground, but how are his routes and his arm?
  14. While his K/BB ratio has been great in the minors, he also walked too many guys. Can't say about the nibbling comment since I've only seen one of his games. His K/BB ratio was good this year and in 04, but in 03 and 05 it wasn't so hot. I'm hoping he'll learn better control as he matures and gets more experience, but I think he'll be hit or miss with his control throughout the majority of his career. Then again Zambrano has pretty much been the same way and it hasn't hurt him too much so hopefully that'll happen in Marmol's case as well.
  15. I think he could turn out like Ervin Santana next year; he'll be decent this year, but he'll be much, much better with a year under his belt. Marmol has better K rates and allows less hits than Santana, if he could cut down on his walks I think he'd be better than him too. He only walked 11 men in all of June so hopefully he's just struggling to find his release point right now and things will straighten themselves out as the season rolls on.
  16. Colvin has now tacked on a solo homer tonight, he's just a triple short of the cycle and the game is only in the bottom of the 4th. Boise is winning 6-5, Billek has been really roughed up: 3IP 7H 5R 1/3 K/BB 2 HR
  17. Colvin is 2-2 with a single, double, rbi, and run in Boise's game so far. His average is up to .284 on the season and although his power hasn't come around yet, he has really been racking up the doubles over the last few games. EDIT: I just scrolled down and saw that he's also got an assist tonight as well.
  18. My team is now in a 8-way tie for 292th place with an ESPN of 262. Pedro Feliz and Bernie Williams aren't helping me much, and Casey Fossum is also doing better than I need him to.
  19. I just happened to be reading through rotoworld's player news, and for some reason Speier's arrest was listed under Derreck's player new.
  20. I think that Cedeno is bringing alot of this on himself right now. He started out pretty good and then went into a slump, and now I think he's just pressuring himself too much to get back out of it. He started out more patient but his strike zone seems to expand with each passing game. The thing I like though is that he still shows passion every game unlike alot of other players when they're struggling.
  21. In other words, Dave Kingman. Or Rob Deer? Rob Deer walked a lot. A definite 3 true outcomes type player. Deer was also a great defensive outfielder. My guess is that Ryan Harvey will wish he could be a good as Rob Deer. Wow. That's pessimistic isn't it? I believe that Harvery is a pretty good defensive OF. He's supposed to be able to cover quite a bit of ground in RF, and he's also got a cannon for an arm. He made a few errors when he first came back but since then I believe that he's been racking up the assists.
  22. On ESPN's Rumor Line just now, they were saying that if the Brewers can move CLEE then they may be looking to trade Abreu. A 3-way trade between the Cubs, Brewers, and Phillies might work out nicely.
  23. I'll only agree to the High-A club moving to the California league if the AA club moves back to the Texas League.
  24. It looks like you did really well then...but if Bonds is indicted and misses a bunch of time it might hurt a little bit but I would've probably done Tejada for Z straight up, Bonds is just icing.
