    So, I gotta disagree with the sentiment that Williams AND Lawrence are NOT generational prospects. Lawrence meets all the criteria, IMO. The #1 HS recruit. College starter as a true freshman and wins a national title with college playoff appearances in every year in college. He was thought of as an eventual #1 draft pick while in HS and lived up to it. I'm not sure where Williams was in HS recruiting rankings, but also started at a major Power 5 program as a freshman (I don't believe he started day 1 as OU had Spencer Rattler), but Heisman as a sophomore and before last night was a leading candidate to win it twice. Granted, that's not that big of a deal as far as NFL prospects go as Tebow nearly won Heisman twice. But I think Williams is closer to Lawrence than Fields was as a prospect and Fields had a lot of H2H success over Lawrence throughout the years.

    No IR for Herbert yet, which is a good sign that he's not going to go on it. I wonder if Gordon may need some sort of ramp up. IDK what he's been doing on the side, but maybe he's not in game shape, despite the injury being a hand. Stroman has played pretty well too, so I wonder if that factors into if they bring Kyler up this week. That being said, I'd at least have him splitting time with Stroman this week if you think he is healthy enough to play, but not ready enough to go a full game. EQ St. Brown is a low key big loss if he can't go. It does help with my desire to have Velus and Scott ramped up during the mini-bye. I wonder what they do with Kramer. With Whitehair moving back to C full-time now that Jenkins is back, they have a lot of centers on the roster w/ Cody, Patrick, Kramer and Feeney. Add in Carter and Davis, and you have 7 OL who can only play on the interior (assuming Jenkins doesn't go back to OT). Either Patrick goes to IR or you activate Kramer just to put him on the practice squad.

    Mooney had 4 targets. The endzone one was dropped (also DPI not called). After seeing DJ catch non-perfect passes, I believe Mooney just isn't making plays. Granted, he may not be capable, which separates him from the DJ Moore's of the world. I hope they use(d) these 10 days to get Tyler Scott and/or Velus up to speed. Even if they have to go back to WR screens to get Velus the ball and just draw up a couple deep shots for Scott, they need one of those guys to step up as the 4th option mainly because they potentially have a future on this roster, unlike St. Brown (and probably Mooney as well).

    Nah, Foreman is very much like Herbert. He doesn't mess around in the backfield like Monty. He gets the ball and finds the hole quickly with the burst to get through it fast. Like Herbert, Foreman is a good bet to get one of the higher yards per carry over expected and put up a solid percentage of explosive runs because he is so decisive with the ball.

    Foreman's skillset is kind of redundant. Most think due to his size, he's redundant to Johnson, but he's actually a very similar runner to Herbert. I think he will get the most carries between he and Johnson until Herbert is back. I also wonder if Herbert goes to IR or not. 4 games would put him back for the TNF game vs. Carolina. IDK that they'd want to bring him back on a short week with barely any practice in that scenario. So, if they don't, that'd put him back Week 11 which would keep Herbert out 44 days. If they don't IR him, I'd think there's a good chance he'd be good to go Week 9 which is just 24 days from the injury. So, you're potentially looking at a 20 day difference if you IR him or not.

    No concern. That's his game. It was his game at Ohio St. It's the game of guys like Watson (when he was good), Russell Wilson (when he was good) and Geno Smith (since he's been good). Typically the guys with big arms, but not the actual cannon arm. Guys like Allen and Mahomes use the whole field because they can throw bullets in tight windows. Then there are the guys who don't have the big arm to throw outside the numbers consistently, so they manipulate the middle of the field more (Brady, Brees types).

    I mean yeah, but that's not the goal. The goal is to have the best QB. If they feel Caleb Williams is the better QB, then it doesn't matter that they can get more for him. Then you throw in you have to pick up a 23M option on Fields this offseason and potentially 50M/year long-term, while you get Williams cheaper for 4 years.

    You were puzzled by a team that started a pair of 5th round guys in their 1st 2 seasons drafting an offensive tackle?

    I mean, it would depend on the Carolina pick. That being #1 changes everything. But if the Bears are in the position to keep Fields and draft a non-QB in the top 5, I'd take one of the blue chip guys. I really don't care what position. Marvin Harrison Jr- Ohio St, WR Brock Bowers- Georgia, TE Olu Fashanu- Penn St, OT Those are the blue chippers other than Caleb Williams (Maye is debatable) to me. If you get one of those guys, you figure out spots later. Harrison becomes the best #2 in the league. Bowers a big slot and you run 12 personnel all day. Fashanu moves Braxton to guard or swing tackle.

    I think if Fields puts up those numbers, and finishes with 7 wins (6-6 rest of the way), you probably have to keep him. I mean at this point, you HOPE Williams can give you that type of production. You know Fields can do it. You gotta pick up the 5th year option (still wouldn't sign him long-term) but I think those numbers make you pretty confident that Fields is the guy and the proverbial bird in the hand. It's a really tough call though when you throw in coaching. You probably hang on to Getsy/Flus if they finish 7-10 with 7 wins in their last 13 games (including last night). You don't want Fields to have to learn a 3rd offense in your organization coming off of 4000/30. If you can somehow keep the same coaching tree and very similar terminology, then it's probably fine. But if Fields is that good, this is your coaching staff/front office/QB combo for a while.

    Feels good to celebrate a win for the first time in a year. And for those worried about draft pick status, if all the 1-3 teams lose and match the Bears 1-4 record (they won't Denver/Jets and Cincy/Zona play each other) the Bears are still in the #2 spot due to weakness of schedule. If Carolina somehow beats Detroit, the Bears would be in the #1 spot themselves. But the most likely scenario after this weekend is a much needed Bears win, and a much desired result of remaining in the 1-2 spots in the 2024 NFL draft.

    He's been fantastic all year. I'd give him a 3-year deal over the 10 day break. Get a stud 3T, keep Dexter and Pickens as depth.

    There were rumors that Pace was basically forced to hire Fox as well. I wouldn't assume Bears owners are NOT meddling. There's too much out there that suggests otherwise.

    I've said this on Twitter, but firing Eberflus now doesn't really do anything for this franchise, TBH. He's not good and needs to be fired after the year anyway. But if you fire him in-season, who is the interim? You are either promoting Getsy or the special teams guy and then you are on your 3rd guy calling the D. That approach is changing the defense for the 3rd time, while keeping the offense status quo. Both sides of the ball are bad, but defense truly doesn't matter nearly as much. This would be missing the point completely. NFL franchises go as their offenses go. Their offenses go as their QB goes. The last 12 weeks of the season needs to be focused on seeing if you can salvage anything with Fields. The Fields/Getsy combo has lost 14 straight, you have evidence this doesn't work. You fire Getsy, give Janocko a shot, then you see if maybe that different voice gets Fields some consistency and he develops into the guy you hoped he would be in the 2nd half of the season. You also maybe have a long-term OC for the team as well. Obviously, that's a long shot but it's a better chance of Janocko/Fields turning into something than it is to stay stagnant. If they aren't good enough, you've lost nothing and still are picking a new QB and offense anyway.

    Agree that the 2022 approach was reasonable. But it didn't have to be so drastic. I'm fine with trading old guys like Mack and Quinn. I'm even fine with the logic of trading Roquan, but then going out and spending big on LB the next year is contradictory. But he could have added 1 long-term piece, non-draft wise. He was willing to spend big money on Ogunjobi, but was not willing to spend the same money to help his QB (OL or WR) in his pivotal 2nd year of development. As for the position priority stuff (and the LB spending is a big part of that), I feel like maybe that's a bunch of letting Eberflus have his say. Like Edmunds reeks of Flus wanting an Urlacher type in the middle of the defense, and he's said as much. I also think he's a WILL LB which is a different point. But if some of these moves are OC/DC influenced (Patrick, Edmunds, drafting hella DBs) then I'll be willing to let Poles get another chance. Then again, he's the one that picked the coach (actually some stuff out there questioning if he did fully pick Flus) and allowed him to have that much personnel say as an inexperienced coach.

    This! I've learned thru the years of having friends/family members in the NFL. 99% of guys know who is making the roster day 1. Every once in a while you get a surprise, but when coaches say "open competition" it's a flat out lie. They already know who they want where and have envisioned what it looks like. Obviously, there are exceptions where there is a legit competition, but those exceptions usually are between 2 bad players (Trubisky/Foles type stuff).

    Chuck Noll was retained, the Steelers got the #1 pick, got Terry Bradshaw (ironically won a coin flip vs the Bears for the right to pick 1st), and started a dynasty and have only had 2 other coaches since 1969. Folks, we aren't bad....we are just in the beginning stages of a dynasty!

    To be fair, from what I can tell, all of Bienemy's legal issues happened in his college years or early NFL years. He's also the most interviewed coach of all time, who has never received a HC job. There's something teams don't like about him as a person/leader. It was also unclear how much of the KC offense was him vs. Andy Reid. And it would be a tough sell to the fans to go to another Reid disciple at HC. That being said, Bienemy is getting a chance to run his own offense this year. Had 2 good games to start in Washington, but they put up just 3 yesterday and their QB had 4 INTs. Jury is still out on him.

    Brian Johnson only has 1 year as an OC/playcaller. And he's running someone else's playbook. Cooter has similar off-field past as Bienemy. And I'm weary of college coaches in general. There's not a ton of success making that transition from college to the pro game.

    I was thinking about this yesterday, and based on those names, it's Ben Johnson or bust for me. I want to like Bienemy, but I know teams have been pretty taken back by his brashness and past history of misconduct. After the Alan Williams stuff, that's going to be a tough sell. I don't like those college guys, including Harbaugh. Lincoln Riley might be worthwhile if you think Caleb Williams will otherwise refuse to play in Chicago with their history of what they have done to QBs.

    I think you have to get rid of Getsy. Probably not going to happen this week or it would have already. So maybe at the mini bye after Washington. You gotta see if someone can salvage something. You can't do nothing and just try to avoid 0-17. You have to see if maybe if you have something with Janocko. You have to see if anything in Fields is salvageable. I have heard rumors that the team loves Flus, but nobody on offense thinks Getsy knows what he's doing.

    So yesterday, Bears/KC was the national game of the week. FOX cut from the game at halftime to show Cowboys/Cardinals. But because it was the national game, it wasn't available on Sunday Ticket either, so I couldn't watch the 2nd half. For this game, I will be at my sister's wedding, so I will miss this too. This is the best thing to come out of the Poles/Flus regime!
