  1. So.... Just throwing this out there. There was a story earlier this year about Burton having a panic attack when asked to throw the ball on a trick play similar to the Philly Special. Ended up having Cohen throwing the ball to tie the Giants game. Now the night before he is to play against Philly for the first time, comes up with an injury? I wonder if there's more anxiety going on with Burton. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  2. Jackson is in. Burton is not. Lynch also inactive. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  3. Sorry another post.... A lot of TV analysts are going on about the Bears gameplan in recent weeks to run the ball and take the ball out of Trubisky's hands. They've almost exclusively talked about Trubisky's ability to run and that he can't make mistakes throwing the ball. But I think the last 4 weeks' gameplans were designed to not show a ton for a team that knew they were likely going to the postseason. Also, trying not to get their QB hurt again. But I think Nagy opens it up today. Tarik Cohen had that 12 catch game against the Giants and hasn't had 13 touches in a game since the Rams. He had 6 catches or more in 6 of the first 12 games, and 6 of 12 with at least 6 carries. He's been toned down the last 4 weeks. I'd imagine they'll try to get him the ball early and often against a mediocre LB corps today, especially if no Burton.
  4. In his 2 years, Mitch has excelled when facing a bottom 10 passing defense. 65% completions, 1573 yards, 12 TDs, and 3 INTs....good for a 105.21 passer rating in 7 games. All 3 of those INTs came against Detroit last year, his very 1st divisional road game. The other 6 games have oddly enough come at home. 117.6 passer rating in 6 home games vs bottom 10 passing Ds. The Eagles come into this with the 3rd worst passing D in the league.
  5. No Burton would suck. But he's been a near non-factor for a while now. Hasn't gone over 40 yards receiving since the Week 7. Only 2 TDs since then, after 4 in the first 6 games. As for Jackson, Bush has played decently the last couple weeks. Where Jackson has the ball skills, Bush has tackled well, which may be more important today as Foles doesn't really throw a bunch of bad balls (though most of his INTs come in the middle of the field). Be nice to get both in there today. But the Bears SHOULD be able to win this game without them. If neither is at least 85-90%, rather have all hands on deck next week, even though next week isn't guaranteed.
  6. Seahawks really had a drive go run, run, run, pass....and it worked! John Fox is impressed.
  7. The 06 team had 3 of it's 4 losses by double digits (including Superbowl). I also seem to remember them being down 20-0 and 23-3 in another game that year. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  8. Colts 27, Texans 24 Seahawks 22, Cowboys 10 Chargers 33, Ravens 14 Bears 27, Eagles 10 Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  9. Last week, he threw 33 passes, 5 of them went more than 10 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. None pass the 15 yard mark. 2-5, with an INT. Only 1 other pass was over 5 yards beyond the LOS (a TD). 12 that didn't make it past the LOS at all. That'll definitely be their game plan. 1. It keeps the pass rush at bay with a QB with bruised ribs. 2. It gets the ball to playmakers and forces the Bears to tackle in space, something they failed to do against Miami and historically have had issues doing to Golden Tate. But when you do that predictably, that's how you get the Amukamara pick 6 vs Seattle, the Jackson pick 6 on Thanksgiving, and the Fuller pick 6, I think against Miami. With the way Fangio disguises, the eagles have to mix it up and go down the field or else Foles will be baited into a mistake. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  10. Don't remember much about the actual game. But my 2-month old nephew was in the hospital after an asthma attack. Which brought his dad into town (he was a Purdue student at the time). He was an eagles fan and wanted to watch the game with me instead of the hospital, which was the exact opposite of what I wanted. Like I said, idk any game specifics but I remember being really pissed at a horrible showing and basically watching the 2nd half from another room so I could scream into a pillow constantly. 11. FYI, all the WRs (Robinson, Miller, Gabriel) practiced in full today. Jackson and Lynch both still held out of practice.
  12. I think they used Cooper also (or was he never active?) . And since they didn't use Bray or Coward, is there one other player that had active and later cut ala Cooper? Yes, Cooper is 56 instead of Coward. So, 52 of the 53 + Cooper, Sims, Callahan and Acho, who actually got hurt against Seattle. Thought for sure he never made it to week 2. But I was mistaken
  13. Just read a Fishbain tweet..... Bears used only 56 players this season. Tied for lowest in the NFL. Everyone on the 53 now + Sims, Callahan & Acho (who was hurt in Week 1)
  14. This isn't meant to disregard the playoff game or even to lessen their chances, but i was going thru my stuff for the site I (seldom) write for, and man the Bears had/have a lot of "dead" spots on their roster. They were carrying Tyler Bray for several weeks, who never played. They carried both White and Wims all season on the 53 for them to be active a combined 13 games. They were only targeted in 4 different games combined, includes both being targeted yesterday as 1. Eric Kush hasn't played an offensive snap since Week 8. The Bears have played an extra lineman and defensive players on offense several times since too. Michael Burton has been on the team all year, 8 times active, 2 with exactly 1 snap, never more than 10 Rashaad Coward was on the 53 all year, but inactive in every game Anyone remember Nick Williams made the team out of camp? Inactive every game but 2. Played only against Buffalo. Kylie Fitts has been active 6 games, played 0 defensive snaps twice, and over 7 snaps twice. One of those was yesterday (the other Buffalo w/ Mack out) Isaiah Irving was active 13 times, but played no snaps in 5 games. 3 times in double digit snaps, ironically Buffalo and yesterday were 2 of the 3. Believe it or not, either Marcus Cooper or Marcus Williams has been on the 53 for every game this year. They played a total of 15 snaps on defense in the regular season. Additionally, guys like Houston-Carson, Benny Cunningham, Daniel Brown, Ben Braunecker, and Joel Iyiejbuniwe have been special teams only type players for most of this year. So, while the Bears have 19 free agents to replace next year (includes Zach Miller), with little cap space and few draft picks to fill those spots.....15 of them are replacement level players or slightly better (Bellamy). Lynch, Massie, Callahan and Amos are it until you go to the punter and long-snapper. Cut Dion Sims and restructure Kyle Long and the Bears can honestly probably afford to bring back literally every single player on the 53-man roster.
  15. Atlanta doesn't need a HC though. And the Bears aren't letting him go be a DC somewhere else. But yeah, Atlanta is back to Superbowl contenders if they could get Fangio as DC and find a guy that can draw up some redzone plays on offense. [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet] Am I reading this wrong or did Quinn get demoted and the HC job is open? Read it wrong. Quinn HC and DC.

  17. I actually reeeeeaaaally like him for the Jets’ job, maybe even my #1 choice Yeah, honestly a great fit. What I think would be the best hires: NY Jets- Gase - still a QB whisperer. Never got the chance to pick his guy in Miami. Obviously Tannehill missed about 1/2 of Gase's 3 years there Cleveland- Kitchens (see previous post) Tampa- Fangio - now or never for Fangio. Tampa #1 passing offense w/ 2 QBs. Talent is there on that side of the ball. Defense is a disaster. Fangio can re-make into 3-4 D and just need a guy to maintain that talented offense, and maybe find a running game Green Bay- Fitzgerald - I want someone to make this move or any college coach to NFL move......but yeah, please interview and hire McDaniels please! Denver- I really don't know what they are going to do. They probably go offensive coach, but they have no QB and aren't getting one in this draft. I actually think i like the rumor i heard of them trading picks for John Harbaugh. But that seems unlikely. Dave Toub wouldn't be a terrible choice here. Arizona- McCarthy (he supposedly turned them down even with given some personnel control). If McCarthy turns them down, I like them as another team to look to the college ranks. Iowa St's coach comes to mind. Also interesting is Rams QB coach, Zac Taylor. Miami- similar to Denver, not really sure what they're going to do. Getting rid of Tannehill. No identity on either side of the ball. Coming off an offensive hire, could go defensive. Jim Schwartz or Gus Bradley could be fun here. Cincinnati- no clue. If they hire Hue Jackson though, I will crap my pants. If they are going offensive head coach, Eric Bieniemy would be extremely interesting. Former Bengals RB. Now Chiefs OC, which has been a springboard for good coaches. Obviously OC for Mahomes' record breaking and likely MVP season.
  18. Not really. I think we saw this year why Washington never wanted to go all-in on Cousins. He’s merely a pretty good quarterback. And Minnesota dumped a crap ton of money into him. No matter who’s the next OC, Minnesota is still going to have to try to succeed with an unremarkable quarterback. The really interesting job opening to me is Cleveland. All that young talent, what looks like the next great quarterback, and all that cap room... they’re positioned for a four or five year run as a Super Bowl caliber team if they spend their money right and hire the right coach. There's no way Cleveland can do anything to the point where Freddie Kitchens is NOT around. He led the team to a top 15 offense (13th overall, 14th rushing and passing offense), with a rookie QB, RB and #2 WR. Most impressively, he coached an offense that allowed their QB to be hit 9 times in the 2nd half of the season, the year after their HoF LT retired. I believe every other team allowed at least 20. If they hire a HC that is NOT Kitchens, then every team that needs a coach will want to interview him as HC. If they hire an offensive coach, almost literally every team would want Kitchens as OC, and they'd likely have to let him go because an offensive coach is going to want to bring in his own guy at OC. They have to either hire interim Gregg Williams full-time, which would keep Kitchens until he does it again next year.....assuming he doesn't get a HC job right away. Or they straight up hire Kitchens as HC because they will otherwise lose him before next February. With Williams' history, I don't see them wanting him as a long time face of the franchise. Hire Kitchens as HC. Williams is DC and assistant HC, with head experience. They also have some good offensive coaches around Kitchens. Every team is looking for the next McVay or Nagy, and they potentially have one under their noses.
  19. This is an interesting matchup. I read an article from the Philly perspective that this is probably the best potential matchup they could have had. They lost to Dallas twice this year already. They have a playoff experienced team going against a team with next to none. They have a playoff proven backup QB vs. a guy everyone is convinced sucks. Bears have home field, but the outdoor and weather advantage they would have had over the Vikings is not there. The Eagles have some pieces on the OL in Kelce, Johnson and Peters who have the pedigree to block the Bears upfront. They have veteran pieces on the DL (Long, Bennett, Cox, etc) who could give the Bears OL some trouble. And the coaches are from the same coaching tree, so the creative plays should be less so in this one. These teams are kind of mirror images of each other in a lot of ways. But the Bears are younger, faster, and simply better across the board. They're just as hot and should be able to win this game based on those facts. Ertz worries me some and Tate has historically given the Bears problems. But a healthy Jackson and the ILB duo (Trevathan was hurt last year's matchup) will go a long way to easing those concerns.
  20. Trubisky was 8-10 for 119 yards on 3rd down passing. He converted on 6 of those 10 third downs, with the only two non-conversions being a 9-yard completion on 3rd and 10, and a 5-yard completion on 3rd and 15 which came after he completed a 25-yarder which was wiped out by a bogus holding call on Kevin White. Also does not include him running for a conversion on 3rd and 5. None of the other 3rd down conversions were under 6 yards. Trubisky had a really good game, that isn't necessarily reflected statistically. And he's been that good for the last 3 weeks. He also hasn't lost a game since October 21st.
  21. Really would prefer the 1pm slot. Also of note, if the Bears win next weekend, they'd play the following Saturday night in LA.
  22. And the winner of this game will play the playoff opener.
  23. Yeah. They aren't going to make a west coast team play a 10am game their time. I know the league screwed over the Bears earlier in the season when they flexed them to Sunday night before the Thanksgiving game, but if the Colts win tonight I have a hard time believing they’ll make a road Sunday night team play the first playoff game on Saturday. Well, they are making the Chargers play a 10am LA time game.
  24. It's believed to be Sunday 1pm start. Reports came out that FOX will be in Chicago for the early game Sunday. I hope so. Joe Buck mentioned he assumed he would do Bears-Eagles. If I had to guess Saturday 3pm Colts/Titans vs Houston Saturday 7pm. Seattle vs Dallas Sunday noon Eagles vs Bears Sunday 330pm Chargers vs Ravens Yeah. They aren't going to make a west coast team play a 10am game their time.
  25. 5-1 division record. 10-2 vs the conference.
