  1. I was watching the ESPN NFL Countdown this morning and all the people on the show picked the Rams today. One of the analyst's reason was "Goff has played really well the last 2 weeks". So I say to my son, "Goff has played well 2 weeks in a row? Well that means a bad game today, because he is terrible every 3rd game". Right on cue, Goff is 19-31, 198 yards and 2 INTs. And I just looked it up, he really is bad ever 3rd game. He did have a streak of 4 games of 100+ QB rating in a row this season, but sandwiched around those were two in the 70s. In 11 games he has 7 good and now 4 bad games.
  2. This Denver dude has thrown a more recent TD pass than Taysom Hill.
  3. This is a waste of time even bringing this up, but with the Arizona loss today, the Bears are a win tonight away from being back in the driver's seat for a playoff spot. A loss and they are behind the Vikings in the division due to the H2H loss.
  4. Jaret Patterson for University of Buffalo ran for 409 yards and 8 TDs today. Brings him to 710 yards and 12 TDs in the last 2 weeks. The 8 TDs are an FBS record (tied). The MAC is a fun league, IDC what anyone says. Two of the 12 teams are averaging 50 points per game, one other is over 45 per game, and 3 others are over 34 per game.
  5. Costs more to lose Foles than to keep him next year. Also, if you believe the rumors it sounds like Pace is pretty safe because the McKaskey family loves him. Are these substantial rumors at all? I thought there were rumors George is "pissed about the offense" or something Just curious how safe is safe? "Extend him and let him hire a new HC" safe or "let him ride out his final contract year before deciding" safe? It was one of those "sources around the league believe" that Pace's job is safe. Rumor surfaced a couple days after those same sources around the league believed that Nagy was NOT likely to be back. So, grain of salt. I see no reason to have a lame duck GM (last year of contract) and let him hire a 3rd head coach. The only active GMs that have made 3 coaching hires are Jerry Jones, who owns the team....and John Elway, who basically owns the team, and one of his coaches had to quit because of heart issues (though he will probably get a 4th hire after this year).

  7. Speaking of the Lions, they kind of have to see what they can get for Stafford this offseason don't they? Age 33 season next year, new coach coming in. They have a whopping 21 free agents on the team, including all of their top 3 WRs. The trading team would have a 24.5Mil cap hit or so and would have an out after the year with most of his guaranteed money already paid. I can see a team like the Patriots, Broncos or Colts going for him. I think they all project to have a bunch of cap space and a surrounding team that shouldn't be too far off from competing (assuming no Patriot opt outs next year). The Lions aren't in the best position to draft a QB as they won't have a top 5 pick, but they are the perfect team to tank a year in hopes for the top pick in 2022.
  8. Grey iron on letters on a plain blue shirt? Amazing? Lol Yes.
  9. Ya'll are crazy, those Lions uniforms are amazing and have always been.
  10. So, theoretically...we are an IU over Wisconsin and Ohio State blowout of Northwestern away from an IU New Years Six game! :clapping: :clapping:
  11. The NL Central winner could be as ugly as the NFC East. I doubt the NL Central winner will lose 90 games Pretty sure the NFC East winner will though.
  12. I don't think the absolute value matters as much as the relative value. Those max salaries have exploded with an exploding cap, but it's still only 25-35% of the cap space (a soft cap, so even less as a % of actual spending). If the top 10 players were paid what they're worth they'd probably make 50-70% of the cap, double what they make now. Freedom of player movement has created more parity for teams, it's just that the parity moves with the players now. Shorter contracts play a big role here. Guys used to lock into like 8 year deals with regularity. Now most max mength contracts are capped at 4 years, and for the rare 5 year contract those players pretty much always get an option after 4 as a standard term. So no more Scottie Pippen getting locked into severely underpaid contracts for a half decade anymore. Thats good for parity. The really only other area I think they could improve is to try and fiddle more with the tannking incentives. If more teams simply tried it would create a more competitive environment for player acquisition. Just remove the individual salary cap. Then the biggest stars would make enough that secondary stars couldn't get paid on the same team. The issue is that those big stars could accept less if they can get secondary stars, which is kind of what happens now just not to the extent being suggested. Like Giannis could sign for 2 years 200Mil, not win and then agree to get another superstar there and extend for 3 years, 60Mil, because he's already got more money than he'll ever need and no ring.
  13. As an aside, Bears fans should REALLY be rooting for Washington to win the NFC East. Dallas is going to re-sign Dak. The Eagles have Wentz and just drafted Hurts in the 2nd. The Giants seem to really like Daniel Jones, and at least sound willing to give him 1 more year. So, the artists formerly known as racial slurs are the only team in the division likely to draft a QB....which is relevant because the 3 teams that don't win the division will draft ahead of the Bears in April/May. WFT has Dallas, Steelers, Niners, Seahawks, Panthers, Eagles DAL has WFT, Ravens, Bengals, Niners, Eagles, Giants NYG has Bengals, Seahawks, Cards, Browns, Ravens, Cowboys PHIL has Seahawks, Packers, Saints, Cards, Cowboys, WFT Eagles have the edge at 3-6-1 with all the others being 3-7, but they have a brutal next 4 weeks coming up. The Giants actually have all 3 wins in the division so they have the edge if a 3-way tie, if they win Week 17. Dallas has the easiest schedule on paper, but the worst divisional record with their 2 losses being blowouts. If Washington can win the Thanksgiving game this week, they are likely to have the edge going into the Week 17 free-for-all.
  14. Well, bad OL so in theory you want the most mobile guy playing. So,that would make the preferred order: Trubisky Bray Jugs Machine Foles
  15. I think its more comparable to the launch angle, high k/low contact changes. People love dongs, people love 3 pointers, but there seems to be an ongoing frustration with the fact that its shifted so much that the focus of the game is selling out for HRs or 3 pointers. I honestly don't have a strong opinion on this but I can understand the argument to some degree as the new emphasis on jacking up 3s does make the game slightly less appealing to me. I've lost interest in the NBA the last few years but I think its more the Bulls sucking than because players run up and down the court shooting 3 pointers every possession. I'm sure the logic is basically the same for HRs vs. sacrifice bunts, but it's pretty much the John Calipari (I think it was him) school of offense. Why shoot 18 footers and get 2 points for making them, when you can shoot 2 3/4 feet further, at a slightly higher degree of difficulty, and get an extra point for it?
  16. Part of me is really glad this style of basketball started when it did so we didn't miss out the Jordan era. Can't imagine he'd be the GOAT without the midrange game, even though I'm sure he would have adapted and became one of the best shooters. But on a personal level, if this style of basketball existed in the 80s, I would have made it longer in the sport. LOL. I was a 5'8" center in the 6th grade who was a great jumper and rebounder. No offensive game so I worked on my inside game all summer, only to go to middle school at 5'8" where that height meant I was now point or shooting guard size and had 0 ball handling or shooting skills. Now everyone can handle and shoot, which I think makes the game more entertaining than feeding it into the post and slowing the game down.
  17. I follow a lot of Lions fans on Twitter. They have achieved an enviable level of apathy. They want Patricia gone bad.
  18. Whoa! Just read this about the New Orleans Pelicans and it blew my mind. Holiday- traded to the Bucks Okafor- signed with the Pistons Favors- signed with Utah Etwaun Moore- is a FA and not offered a contract Jackson and Williams (end of bench guys) were not tendered qualifying offers That means the longest tenured Pelican is now.......Zion Williamson, who was drafted 16 days before the AD trade which brought Ingram, Ball and Hart. Jaxson Hayes and Alexander-Walker were also traded for that day. JJ Redick signed the week after
  19. It was, so... It was weird or it was in your hometown?
  20. It's weird anyway to root for a school you didn't go to unless it's in your hometown.
  21. 3 interceptions and 0 points off if them. IU turned it over twice and got a 93 yard drive against them and a pick 6. Two redzone fumbles...one redzone drop. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  22. That'll do it. SMH Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  23. Damnit. Free turnover and fumble in the redzone 2.0 Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  24. IU should be hanging in this. Dropped pass on 4th down that would have put them in the redzone. Fumbled in the redzone and a subsequent 93 yard drive allowed. Defense was doing its part after the first drive, but been on the field way too long. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk
  25. I saw a tweet that had a screenshot from Reddit of a dude that figured out where Ibaka was going. Apparently he had a picture also from him boarding the plane and the floormat had Fountainbleu something or other on it. And that company only flies private jets out of Fort Lauderdale and the hour after Ibaka posted the pic the only flights from that company from that airport that flew anywhere near an NBA city were to Houston and near Brooklyn. And figured it was Brooklyn with Houston possibly trading everybody.
