  1. Vegas is a launching pad - for a guy who is supposed to have 70 raw power, four home runs is really disappointing. His BA is being propped up by a .400 babip. He had major contact issues in 2018 & 19. He's lost a bunch of development time to injuries. I'm not saying he's going to be a bust and I'll trust K's knowledge of the guy...but the stats don't tell me a pretty story other than the big bump in walk rate and more manageable strikeout level in '21.
  2. A 26 year old without huge numbers in Las Vegas who had big problems with contact and batting average at his past stops in the minors...meh. I might rather have a high upside lottery ticket or two.
  3. I expect him to become more invested in the team as the years go by. I'm much more irritated that there are so many games he doesn't cover.
  4. After qualifying Zadorov, the Hawks have pairings of: DeHaan - Jones the elder Zadorov - Murphy Jones the younger - Stillman Which leaves no room for Beaudin, Mitchell, Kalynuk, etc. I just don't understand what this organization is doing. I just don’t get the nuances of NHL roster management but this off-season feels like a late 90s MLB front office working in a 2010s MLB frontier. I was really expecting the Hawks to work to consolidate the talent through trades this offseason. So sending something like Beaudin + Mitchell + Suter to CBJ for Jones instead of Boqvist & two first round picks. They've got too many okay-to-good players and not enough good-to-great players to get over the hump. To solve that, you can take the patient approach and see what those younger players mature into (but you have to clear the roster to give them space to play and live with the losses). Or you can do some 2-for-1 and 3-for-1 trades to consolidate the talent to expedite things (but have a shorter window). I feel like Stan is trying to do half of each.

  6. Yes, but they have to spell it Geez
  7. So the Hawks did not qualify Suter and he'll become a free agent. Apparently we're short on cash all of a sudden.
  8. I'm pretty sure this is the worst move that Stan has made. It's almost like he's deliberately sabotaging the team before he inevitably gets fired.
  9. I'm kind of sort of on-board the "Trade Davies" train. There's a possibility the Cubs hit on a lottery ticket or two for him and every team seems to be scrambling for innings from starters going down the stretch, but man, this rotation is already butt and trading Davies will just make it even worse. Well, it will be good to see what we've got in Thompson and Steele in the rotation after the deadline. Unfortunately, every single starter in AAA and AA has been awful in one way or another this year.
  10. Clearly, we never should have traded Chirinos all those years ago.
  11. I don't think so. Kid has like 400 professional at bats, we won't be very good, and poor Tom won't want to start his clock yet. They will likely give him the Bryant/Hoerner treatment to manipulate service time because they are a trash organization. You say this without even knowing what will happen in the next CBA. Hell, we'll be lucky if there's baseball at all next spring.
  12. Christopher saw your post and said hold my beer... Ha! Awesome.
  13. Morel is only half the prospect. He only hit one hr today.
  14. You missed Baty, Mauricio & Vientos. Surely we'll get all three for KB, money & Tepera
  15. SI mocked Carpenter of all people to the Kraken
  16. Can someone sell me on protecting Kampf over Gaudette? I'm fine with all the other decisions they made. I just don't get this team's fascination with Kampf. I'm really hoping (and I believe the Blackhawks are, too) that de Haan gets picked. I'd actually be relieved if they picked Zadorov so that we don't end up committing big money to such a one-way player. Losing Subban wouldn't hurt at all. But with the information that came out about Gaudette's diagnosis/treatment of his stomach ailment that had limited him for years, I'd really like to find out what he can do when fully healthy. I think he's fairly easily the highest ceiling player we have exposed. Meanwhile, Kampf is a big bucket of meh.
  17. Not sure if this was directed at me but I tend to believe the person making racism claims. But when guys like Shaq, Robert Horry, Barkley, and so on claim that Scottie is being ridiculous with a comment like the one in question it makes me think Pip is off base, especially when he's out doing product promotion. It's also possible that younger Phil was racist (as seen in the '75 book) and then grew as a person by the time he was out in LA.
  18. Unlikely. It would have been in his interest to pitch...better.
  19. Huh...I wonder if Williams will go long today to slot into Jake's spot in the rotation
  20. I guess it's just Bote, Duffy & Sogard on the IL for the offense. Can't we DFA Ortega and give Hermosillo a chance?
  21. Who is still on the IL where we've still got Ortega on the active roster?
  22. This one is for TT: https://theathletic.com/realtime/nimQLZq3o0wU The Cubs have signed Robinson Chirinos to a one year, major league deal.
  23. He was only going to cover one inning. Saving him for the seventh when the Reds would have better hitters due up is not a bad decision.
  24. What the hell happened last year that we're having this mass exodus of coaches & players?
