  1. The players should be prioritizing the draft pick compensation as part of the CBA negotiations. Let the team losing a player get a comp pick, great. But don't penalize the team signing an FA. Conforto would be absolutely perfect for this roster. But I don't think the Cubs are willing to lose the draft pick to get him.
  2. I call bs. I believe Cy Young is the all-time Cy Young leader and nobody can prove otherwise. He only has one Cy and one Young He was Cy every day of his life. How many days was Clemens Cy?

  4. wow - this weekend of football.
  5. Can we please hire Daboll?
  6. Wow - that throw from Allen.
  7. Brady looks awful today.
  8. I think this is my favorite thread ever.
  9. That was Coby
  10. Murray from around Halloween on has been one of the worst QBs in the league in that period since he’s been in the league, iirc. Some week around that point to the end of the season he’s seen a significant drop off every year. I saw something posted here (I think) that Kingsbury's teams do that all the way back through his college years.
  11. Murray looks panicked out there
  12. Does Kingsbury just sabotage his teams in the second half of any season?
  13. lolololol sacked three times trying to convert 4th down
  14. Does the Mike Glennon / trading up for Trubisky over Mahomes/Watson count as one more or two? I don't care how many moves it counts as, it's pretty silly to the degree fans parse out individual moves instead of the big picture. But fwiw if I magically became an NFL owner I'd definitely want my GM to feel secure they won't be fired for trying to find a QB and failing. The idea that GMs should get one swing at a QB and that basically seals their fate is one of the most utterly brain dead sports takes in existence. I was mainly joking, but you're right that he shouldn't be judged on one move. But just at the qb position alone, he: - Chose to let Cutler go and sign Glennon - draft Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson - Trade for Foles contract instead of developing Trubisky further - Trade for Foles over signing Dalton - Give up on Trubisky - Signing Dalton to play over Foles just one year later - Spend big capital to trade up for Fields, but then have a half assed plan to develop him That's too say nothing of the fact that he's already had the chance to hire two head coaches and much more.
  15. Somehow...

  17. So awesome. Demar went to the Illinois game with Ayo today to support him in his big day.
  18. If playoffs are going to be expanded, which seems inevitable, I think I prefer the plan that simply reverses the order of finish for non-playoff teams. It will kill a *lot* of the fun of the trading deadline, but it should pretty well eliminate all-out tanking. Yes, it does make it harder for teams that are on the bottom to get better. But they can use FA to do that in this structure. They're incented to spend money. Might you have a scenario where there's a generational pick at #1 and a team misses the playoffs on purpose to get that pick? It's possible, but I think even that would be a fun thing to see play out.
  19. Was he even close to returning from his injury? he was likely to play the next game.
  20. Thanks for the Curbelo updates. Hopefully he's fully healthy and can get to 100% on the court as we go along. A 10-3 record is actually better than where I thought they were at this point.
  21. I admit I haven't been paying much attention so far. Is Curbelo going to take a red shirt at this point or is he still hoping to be able to play this year?
  22. My assumption was that Daniel Snyder is an entitled, rich white horsefeathers that doesn't care about black history. But I could be wrong.
  23. I'll be just as upset if they keep Pace. I want a clean sweep. But I can't share that sentiment. Nagy is such a larger issue to me than Pace. If the keep Pace I'll groan, roll my eyes and then see what he does. Nagy stays, I riot. How many games were there this year when you felt the Bears had a talent advantage over the opponent? Yesterday and...Detroit? How many times did you feel they were at a talent disadvantage?
  24. I keep seeing takes that Matt Nagy is such a good guy, and maybe he is outside of football (nice of him to make a donation to JDs kids charity this week), but horsefeathers like this dispels that he’s classy. There is no benefit to Peters playing. Sure winning is fine but best for the team is clearly not playing a 39 year old with no future on the team over your highly drafted rookie. The classy thing to do would be to do what’s actually best for the team even if you aren’t going to be around. But hey now Nagy will finish his Bears career with a record over .500 so that’s something to brag about when he’s the QB coach of the Texans next year He may give off the appearance of classy to the untrained eye but Matt Nagy is not classy when it comes to football. Pretty sure if you ask people within the game, they'd say it's a classy move to give the HOF vet a chance to finish out his career on the field. It will also potentially help you sign guys in the future, so it's not all bad. All that said, I would have played Jenkins.
  25. lol @ Glennon
