  1. I hate the way Pickett takes the air out of the ball. So much dribbling, backing people down from half court. Yet IU has seen it for 2 games and can't do anything about it so I wouldn't stop either. In the game last night, I kinda got depressed watching. A lot of talk about Hood-Schifino leaving for the NBA after this season by the announcers. I guess it never really crossed my mind that he could leave this year. LOL. He's obviously an NBA talent, but I figured he would come back with his buddy Reneau and go back to his natural 2-guard role (though he is a combo guard). Work on increasing his range a bit more out to the 3pt line. He's projected in the late 20s or early 30s, so I just assumed he'd come back and try to become a lottery pick. For a minute, I forgot what thread I was in. Thought you were saying the steelers let air out of the ball so that Pickett can hold it with one hand.
  2. Just taking those rankings into account, am I crazy to like Jones? Well rounded and young. How much should we buy into McGary's career year as something he should carry forward?
  3. 40 man vs not I think? Correct.
  4. Need to play Mrazek more.
  5. Is he worth 5/$250 million and two 1st Round picks? Seems to be injury prone the last few years. And with the running he does, I only seem him getting injured more often. You're just hoping the Jets bail out GB from the Rodgers end of career mushroomstravaganza with a flood of picks and other assets
  6. Has anyone seen any velocity readings with Burdi this spring? It would be awesome if he's fully healthy.
  7. I'm warming up to the idea of the Bears trading down from 1, taking a DL in the Top 10, and then trading back up into the 20s from the top of the 2nd round (assuming they get 36 or 39 or 40, or some combination of those picks) to nab someone like JSN. I'm not sold on him as a Top 10 guy, but somewhere like 25? Absolutely. I don't think JSN will last that long.
  8. The returns seem light and I'm not a fan of Skoronski that high.
  9. lol @ this game. Outshot 27-13 Outhit 25-18 Faceoffs - 43% Down in PP opps 4-2 Winning the game 4-0. Hey, we're also have more giveaways (12-6)!
  10. Seconded. Very good article.
  11. The 76'ers did it very famously. The Red Wings are a large market hockey team that has embraced tanking since Yzerman has taken over. He had a head start because the previous GM tried to keep the Wings a playoff team several years after they clearly had no way of winning the Cup. Which is exactly where the Blackhawks were when the new GM took over.
  12. I dont think he's saying that, I think he's saying that no other "big city" has seen their teams embrace the tank across sports (baseball, football, basketball, hockey etc) quite like Chicago has in the last 20 years or so I can’t think of another big market team that has done what the Blackhawks did this year, in terms of blatant over the top tanking. I think teams have unintentionally became really bad. Then you have the Bears pulling the almost unheard of move of a new guy bringing in absolutely nothing in his first year, and sabotaging a first round QB with zero help. The Cubs pulled off their 2nd tank in less than a decade and blamed it on the pandemic their owners political party claimed wasn’t real. It’s all rather disgusting. When NY teams perform this poorly, heads roll. But Chicago applauds it. And all the teams are doing it together. The 76'ers did it very famously.
  13. I think it’s shameful to tank professional sports seasons and that’s all Chicago teams do now. Every other big city team/organization manages to take a year or two step back before rebounding. Chicago has embraced the tank and should be embarrassed, but aren’t. Wait, are you saying no other "big city" team has ever tanked? In any sport? I think that's a bit hyperbolic.
  14. Goony, Are you saying that this was the wrong path to take now, or that it never should have come to this? I definitely agree with the latter. I'm much less certain I agree with the former.
  15. Some of it was just unfortunate timing that their previous deal didn't expire until the RSN market had significantly softened.
  16. If you look at the payrolls over the past 10 years, they mostly have. They’ve owned the team for a dozen years and attempted to fund a winner in roughly one third of those seasons. I didn't say they've spent enough or that I agree with their approach.
  17. The Dodgers have an $100 million per year head start on every other team in the league via their tv deal, the Cubs are far from poor but they don’t have a structural advantage that approaches it. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-update-the-estimated-local-tv-revenue-for-mlb-teams/ Instead of comparing them to the Dodgers or the Yankees/Mets, why don't we compare them to the Phillies, Padres, Blue Jays, Angels, Braves, Astros, and the Rangers. They certainly have the funds to outspend these teams. If you look at the payrolls over the past 10 years, they mostly have.
  18. Let's just say I'm not quitting my day job!
  19. finish the job the airplane started The whole ocean tried that and still failed.
  20. Funny, this is the best I've felt yet about the transition.
  21. I'm just trying to remember the last time we had 52 votes on anything.
  22. Sounds like you did the right thing by never inviting me. lol - I would have sworn you'd be in it. As is mentioned later, it hasn't been used much in the past decade or so.
  23. iirc, the creation of the insider's forum was multi-purpose. - it was a place where we could say whatever we wanted to without it getting seen by outsiders (eg - swearing) - I wanted to have a place to reward many members of the site with a perk - I wanted to have a place to get feedback from those same members on the direction of the site - A place for calmer and more rational discussion once in a while
  24. CT is still 12, and I refuse to engage with anybody who tells me otherwise. CT is a practicing lawyer now, I think. Okay, now THAT makes me feel old.
