    iirc, it was along the lines of him having the tools to play it at an extremely high level, making some big-time, highlight-reel plays there during games, and a caveat along the lines of "he just needs reps there to be more consistent".

    Rumor has it that Yahil Meléndez signed for $400k.

    There have been years where I felt like the Cubs only had one scout and he only went to games at the CCL. This isn't quite to that extreme, but it ain't far off.

    Yeah, keep an eye on it as the signings come in. I forget who maintains that, but he does an amazing job with a status overview on who has signed, who is leaning which way based on media and social media reports, where things stand with the bonus pool, etc. It's a fantastic resource for the draft itself, but even more so for tracking things afterwards.

    I wouldn't characterize Horton or Jensen as "high-floor" guys, either. That's 1/2 to 3/4 of the picks over the past 4 years. Wicks is the only real "high floor" guy during that time.

    Yeah, that's why I made my edit. But just going back in time, we have to get back to 2015 with Happ before there's a guy at all similar. (Horton, Wicks, Howard, Jensen, Hoerner, Lange, Little)
