    No worries.
  2. I would rather have Lofton in CF than Perez at SS. It may come down to that. For the life of me, I can't see the connection between those two choices. If the Cubs are hitting Perez at the leadoff spot right now...Baker must think he can leadoff. By getting Lofton will ease the transition to Cedeno since he won't have to lead off thus the need to sign Perez won't be a great. You have to think like Baker Tim...that might be your problem. :D Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

  4. They usually will be. There's a fair number of teams that finish within a few games of .500 almost every year. Or at least there should be (in other words, I'm making that statement without looking it up and counting on probablility theory to do my work for me).
  5. I don't think of it as penalizing EP for being old. I think of it as rewarding the other guys for being young.
  6. This is what is wrong with Lofton.

Juan, I know you're swamped, but would it be possible to set up the games for this week? I'd like to see what the score is. Thanks!
  8. Now batting leadoff and playing CF for your 2006 Chicago Cubs - Brad Wilkerson!
  9. Fans of every team hate their manager. I've seen a number of ATL fans complain that Cox "isn't able to win the big games".
  10. There's a minor leaguer for Anaheim who did it in five months this year. But I'm not sure at the major league level.

First off, are they really throwing in the towel by playing Zimmerman and Church instead of Castilla and Guillen? Second, no, I wouldn't be pissed in your example. Each team has to do what is best for them. If that means playing youngsters to get ready for the following year, then so be it. IIRC, we were playing Cincy a lot down the stretch in 2003 and they were playing a whole bunch of kids. I don't remember anyone around here complaining about that!
  12. Actually, I do remember some around here who don't like Beane saying that this would be the year where he'd fall down because he didn't have Hudson and Mulder. That if he managed to win this year without the "big three" in place that they'd finally be convinced there must be something to his methods. Huh.
  13. Location, decption, movement and velocity all figure into how hard a pitcher is to hit. If you've got the first three nailed, you can get by without velocity and still be very good. But it sure is easier to be a great pitcher if you have velocity.

Adam, according to the nightly email, my boys scored 13.8. How did yours fare?

Egads I hope not. I've got Patterson & Livan in my fantasy rotation for the championship this week against abuck. shut em all down. give those cardinals some rest for the playoffs too. Well, I just lost Burnett, too. :(
  16. Wow, that'd be awesome. I'd do that, but Hendry wouldn't be so bold as to enrage the Chicago sports media by trading away Lee for basically a prospect, no matter how good the prospect might be. Basically, you're trading Lee and a couple million dollars of additional salary commitment to AZ for a cheap, very solid starter, a fairly proven first baseman / OF and a top 15 prospect. You're trading away a guy who just had his career year for three guys to plug holes. Now, AZ might have flashbacks to the whole Richie Sexson thing and think better of this, but I think Milwaukee did pretty well on that deal. How you going to fill the superstar hole though?? He could have another huge year. Sure, he could. So could Tracy. Or Webb. Or Quentin. Or it could be that it is more important to have a good team than a great player.

    Sweet, now this gem:

I've got Cordero on my staff, too. :( Basically, I figured RFK would be idyllic for pitchers and stocked up. I like Livan, but the lack of K's, lack of CG's (this season), and terrible WHIP have been a sort of nuisance all season long. Pulling in a solid ERA and wins though. I don't play in a rotisserie league, though. I play in a points league that highly rewards quality starts & innings pitched. Livan's great and he's about the most predictable pitcher in MLB the past few years.

  20. Why does everyone keep ignoring Webb in that trade proposal? :? Or Chad Tracy of the "proven" .305/.356/.542 line? Sure, I love Quentin. But he's one of three pieces I'm getting in this trade. By trading one player at his peak, I'm filling three holes on the team.

  23. Yes, that's why I'm all about Nomar for one more year with Cedeno as backup.

if weaver ends up not making his second start, can i put someone else in after his start on tuesday? It sucks that the championship might be determined by who doesn't play. i was thinking the same thing, but there's no other way to do it unless you just lop off the last week from competition. I'm glad we could come to a resolution on this issue. I win!!!
