  1. Hmm. I'm not working yet, though I will be going in around 10:30. Tim, If I were you after last night. I'd be knee deep in a bottle of scotch right now :drunken: That was last night. :headache: Besides, we've got our christmas party at work this afternoon and I want to see what the boss does for my coworker and I who were on the plane. :D
  2. Wellemeyer will either make the team out of ST or he will not be on the 40 man roster during the season. Or, he'll be traded before then.

  4. In case you haven't seen it yet....you can stop reporting Macias' results. :D
  5. It really isn't taking that much space. Pruning the old chit chat threads on the other hand... :D Like those gargantuan "general chit chat" threads? Also, what about the sticky on the Pictures thread in Social? The pictures aren't hosted here, so they don't really consume my bandwidth. I appreciate the ideas, though. :thumleft: Sure, no problem. I have a ton of time on my hands for the next 8.5 months. :D Know anything about php development? If so.... I really wish I did-I'd jump at the chance to help you out with the site. I have a friend that does, but all my education is in history. Is it difficult to pick up? It's pretty easy if you have a development background and know about how to develop for the web. I, of course, have had exactly one programming course approximately 19 years ago and it was in Fortran!

  8. Well, there are two ways to sign up: 1) monthly subscription - as long as you keep paying the $5 / month, it never expires 2) annual subscription - for a discounted rate of $50/yr, you can get 12 months of premium. But that expires unless you manually renew. I keep meaning to automate the notification process, but I can't seem to get to it. Which reminds me, I need to send out the december renewal notices. I've been a premium member, but if I recall ... it was last year in Dec - around Christmas time. An annual subscription. I just don't want to miss out by the end of the year. :) I just sent out the renewal notices for the month. You should have one in your mailbox. Yours actually expires on Christmas Day. I take it annual renewal notices are sent out? let me know...I think I am up for renewal in Feb. some time? You're actually good through May 28th.

    Bored...

We've always made pre-draft deals before. See the machinations that Adam made last year to improve draft position.... Now I agree that this might be a bit early. ;)

  12. The Cubs have until the 20th with both Patterson and Hairston.

  14. A serious question here...do I have to make a post like this every day? Or is the 10 seconds it takes away from reading the content here really too much to ask? I'm not saying you have to buy anything on the sites you check out. Just go there and see what they have to say and hit the "back" button if you're not interested. BTW - to all the guests perusing the site: You are welcome to click the ads, too!
  15. Can I have a choice for ambivalent? I'm really not worked up one way or another about this deal. Of course, if Hendry actually does sign him long-term, then I'll be pissed.

Juan Pierre? Howry & Eyre? Bah. How about a REAL transaction? Anyone want to make an offer for any of my first round picks? :D
  17. As much as Hendry is willing to overpay to have depth in the rotation, why not offer arby to Nomar? If he accepts, he will be insurance for the oft-injured ARam. If he declines, you get an extra draft pick to replace the ones foolishly given up for relievers. Plus, we really wouldn't be on the hook for $8M. To keep the math simple, let's say the arbitrator granted a pay raise to $9M, or $1.5M per month. The Cubs would have to keep him until 6/15, so they'd be on the hook for $3.75M of the $9M. At which point, if they've used him little enough for him to stay healthy, he could be traded for whatever is required at the time.
  18. Yep. But it was still working for a while after you disabled? I'm glad I don't have to try to figure this out Nope. It went away the same time as the search functions. I checked the code and it calls one of the functions I had to comment out when I disabled search. It's working again today :-k It shouldn't be.

  20. I see the trade this way: - Pierre is okay. I'm not excited to have him, but he's not the end of the world, either. - I'm sorry to see Pinto and Nolasco go, but I'm happy it wasn't Hill, Guzman or Marshall - This opened up space on the 40 man roster, which was desperately needed - We'll also get two draft picks in 2007 as compensation for Pierre leaving as a FA (assuming they don't change the draft rules by then)
  21. Yep.
  22. Yes. I will enable it again as soon as I can figure out how to do so without jeapordizing the uptime of the site.
  23. Roy Oswalt only throws 2 pitches, and occasionally mixes in a change-up. Roy really has four pitches as he'll mix in a slider, too. Burnett, OTOH, really has only two pitches. Apparently, there are a lot of GM's out there that think pretty highly of him.
  24. Abreu + Utley wouldn't do it for you? :D
