  2. An article I read said no boos or anything untoward so far.
  3. Not that I expect anything more enlightened, but don't celebrities have people to help them not sound so tone deaf? When I tried to Google it, it doesn't seem like it got a ton of traction, so it'll probably go unnoticed.
  4. I let my subscription to the Athletic expire. Can anyone give me the cliff notes summary of what Russell's misstep was? Was it baseball related, or something regarding his behavior? https://theathletic.com/835775/2019/02/25/letters-from-camp-yu-darvish-gets-into-the-swing-of-things-while-addison-russell-missteps/
  5. He's just trying to out-mad scientist Maddon.
  6. I don't get it, what did you fix? It looks exactly the same. I was leaning on the... other definition of FTFY. FTFY.
  7. FTFY I don't get it, what did you fix? It looks exactly the same.
  8. I assumed that he wasn't Boras client, and it looks like he dumped him in 2015. Many Cubs fans think this gives us hope of extending Bryant, but is there any history of Boras arbitration-level guys extending instead of hitting free agency? Strasburg, but if I remember correctly, it includes opt-outs that make the extension more of an arbitration buyout and not much else (other than a security blanket if injury/decline hit hard).
  9. I see that Darvish has decided to go the full Chatwood...
  10. Wait...he doesn't like analytics and a quirky personality, but he's cool with the Cubs and Maddon?
  11. Mike Trout could get hit by a bus, or much less likely, suddenly start to suck, so I understand the allure of getting the record now. But not if it means leaving $150M+ on the table.
  12. The only way it's in his interest is if there's not a mega-longterm deal, which seems unlikely. The only other explanation (and this wouldn't be in his best interest), is if pride (or Boras) won't allow him to accept a contract smaller than Macahdo. I don't know for sure how unethical Boras is, but I wouldn't be shocked to find that he'd council a player to choose 3 years at the highest AAV in history over 10 years at the second highest AAV in history.
  13. I always hated the fact that he was on the Cardinals primarily because I couldn't bring myself to hate him. He was a really fun player to watch. Same with Pujols. I was always in awe of him as a player, and loved watching the amazing things he would do during his STL tenure, but it killed me that he was doing it for the Cardinals.
  14. Instead, you have WAY more DH dongs. I'll take that trade any day.
  15. This was something that I looked back on after and laughed. As in lmao David horsefeathering ROSS donged off of Andrew Miller in game 7 of the horsefeathering World Series! After a throwing error and falling on his ass just a few minutes earlier, allowing the Indians to score 2 runs.
  16. What, no love for Grandpa's big moment in his last game as a player? [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  17. I agree, we’re winning 103 again and won’t need deadline moves. Our last 103 season had a huge deadline move, and was the first indication that all this talk about character was [expletive].
  18. I wish some of our starters had been as disappointing last year. Hopefully some of them will be as disappointing this year.
  19. His feet are wider apart, hence the wider base. I would think the knock-knee aspect of that would sap all the power, but what do I know...
  20. Gj Noah Syndergaard, sucks he will never be a Cub because of this uppity attitude I have a feeling the Cubs trade for him...in 10 years.
  21. Obviously they have the potential to do better, but last year they had 1.5, .9,1.6,and .6 for Schwarber, Almora, Heyward, and Happ according to Baseball Reference. But bWAR has nothing to do with these projections. Unless Schwarber takes a step back (possible, but I'd bet the other direction), they should beat those projections.
  22. I think they're low on the middle infield. Baez + Zobrist + Russell: 2018: 10.3; 2017: 4.2; 2016: 9.6 The pure average of those three years is around 8.0. Usage should be about the same. Hopefully Zobrist won't have a gimpy wrist But since they're giving the starting staff 2x the WAR they had last year, doesn't it all even out? These projections are almost as good as the 2016 staff.
  23. But his leadership is ageless...
  24. Fair enough. Usually when people talk about someone being on the spectrum, they are talking about the autistic spectrum. The two people (prior to you) who referred to him being on the spectrum have specifically mentioned autism. Elaborate, please...
