  1. I think you will see Barrett get 7 or 8 games. It will be reduced to 5 or 6 on appeal. Anderson should get 8 too, but will probably get a wrist slap for 3 or 4. Mabry, Podsednik, and AJP should get fined but not suspended.
  2. I dont know....some of those Northern League teams look pretty tough.
  3. please keep him away from 2b. thank you.
  4. actually it wasnt. Michael said in the post game interview that he was dazed. He got up and the first thing that happened was AJP walked toward him going the wrong way. He then bumped Michael, which is when Barrett said a profane verse about not having the ball. AJP continued bumping him and Barrett slugged him. AJP said he was also dazed. He hit home plate out of "reaction." He was simply trying to pick up his helmet that was behind Barrett, which is why he was walking that way. The worst person involved was Anderson. Watch him on the replay. If he doesnt get suspended for 10 games, there is no justice in this world. No sense in what he did.
  5. ryan harvey is in Daytona. Hitting .186/.245 at the moment.
  6. bleak. But with Mora only getting $8m per and Tracy re-upping earlier for change, no way ARam opts out. He just cant get $11m on the open market, especially with the El Stinko performance he is putting up this year. The best 3 would be Alfonzo, Feliz, and Boone. And the thought of any of those guys in Cubbie Blue makes me very sad. There will be a good catcher market this offseason, so they could sign 2 catchers and move Barrett back to 3b if ARam does leave. He would probably go willingly because it would extend his career.
  7. Well our Cuban friend whom we have followed from the Winter Leagues got cut along with OF Matt Padgett in order to make room for Ryu and Womack. Wonder what it takes besides a lousy ERA for a lefty to get thrown out of this circus organization. Couldnt they have at least sent him down to AA?
  8. Off the FA market for 2007. 3 years, $25 million- option for 4th year. Also no trade clause.
  9. I think Hendry and company should look into hiring this guy for the Media Relations Post. He has had experience with this type of thing before. "Remain calm everyone. Nothing to see here." http://www.cfpeople.org/military/070404/BaghdadBobCBS.jpg
  10. http://www.movieprop.com/tvandmovie/reviews/secretofmysuccessvira.jpg I figure its going to take 90 wins to pick up the WC. That means the team will need 73 more wins in 121 games or .603 ball from here out. The thing that worries me (besides the fact that we have as much offensive threat as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest) is that there are 4 teams in our division ahead of us and we have fallen 9.5 back after tonight. 10 games out is the kiss of death in your division, where the exceptions are far outweighed by the rule. Going to take a Herculean effort from here to win. Just dont think we have it in us.
  11. yea, but both have no trade clauses (i think) and would probably ask for extensions, which the Yanks might not want to do. Edit: Wood has no trade. Maddux does not.
  12. He seems to make a good babysitter for Darren. =D>
  13. i would be for this. JT Snow is an able defensive player at 1b. Careerwise .268/.358/.428/.786. Last 3 yrs, .291/.387/.436/.823. Depends really how much Boston is asking for, but picking him up would definitely help out the offensive production we are not getting from 2b right now (by moving TWalk back) and give us a lefty bat we could place 2nd or 6th in the lineup. He has gap power, not HR power, so no help there though. Dont know what we could do with him after DLee got back though. Maybe a July trade to Atlanta? LaRoche is deep in Bobby's dog house and Brian Jordan is old.
  14. Jeff Brantley wants Neifi killed too. On BT, he was not calming down or taking any excuses. Called it flat out stupid because you still need another hit to follow in order to tie the game. He was quite animated and worked up about it.
  15. From Cubs.com Lee Lee has progressed to where he can take some swings in the cage using a shorter, lighter bat. He can only do one-handed swings as he continues to rehab from a fractured right wrist, suffered April 19. "That's what it is -- it's something to do rather than sit around," Lee said. "It's coming."
  16. This was my best shot to understand Jim being Jim: if true, Hendry's real strategy comes to life. 1b Walker 2b Theriot SS Cedeno 3b Perez LF Bynum CF Womack RF Hairston C Barrett (a converted middle IF) woohoo. way to go Jim, everyone can cover 2b!
  17. Actually Mendoza did have 401 PAs in 1979 when he played for the Mariners. He went .198/.216/.249/.465 that season. He was a hell of a fielder though. Always felt Auggie could give him a run for his money, but Neifi seriously is better than this. He needs to pull his head out of his tail section.
  18. I love Ozzie sometimes. When asked about the situation on the Northside on Rome is Burning this afternoon. Ozzie said that he had good friends on the organization and hated to see them going through it. That he had respect for Dusty and was a friend of his, and then dropped the bomb: You cant win the Kentucky Derby without the horses. I know have much love for both managers on both sides of Chicago! Thanks Ozzie.
  19. He broke the distal radial and distal ulna bones.
  20. I feel like dancing. We actually won a series tonight! Another great sign, with Carlos's performance last nite, our starters are now sub 5 ERAwise for the first time in a long time. And with Marshal's performance tonight, we probably cut the gap from our 14th place ERA to Philly's 13th place in half. Marshall! Marshall! Marshall!
  21. iowacubs.com has him at .177/.307 and Deardorff at .213/.300. They could definitely use the help until Dope gets back. But Micah can play the OF as well, LF especially. I am so excited for Micah.
  22. if true, Hendry's real strategy comes to life. 1b Walker 2b Theriot SS Cedeno 3b Perez LF Bynum CF Womack RF Hairston C Barrett (a converted middle IF) woohoo. way to go Jim, everyone can cover 2b!
  23. And since we now have a streak, you dont mess with the streak. Today we are sucking up to Ramon Ortiz for the Nationals in the hopes he will help us make it 3 in a row. Today's selection is by Bob Dylan entitled Romance in Durango. It is the only song that i could think of with Ramon or Ortiz in it. Enjoy and give em hell Kid K. And keep the streak alive Flame! Hot chili peppers in the blistering sun Dust on my face and my cape, Me and Magdalena on the run I think this time we shall escape. Sold my guitar to the baker's son For a few crumbs and a place to hide, But I can get another one And I'll play for Magdalena as we ride. No llores, mi querida Dios nos vigila Soon the horse will take us to Durango. Agarrame, mi vida Soon the desert will be gone Soon you will be dancing the fandango. Past the Aztec ruins and the ghosts of our people Hoofbeats like castanets on stone. At night I dream of bells in the village steeple Then I see the bloody face of Ramon. Was it me that shot him down in the cantina Was it my hand that held the gun? Come, let us fly, my Magdalena The dogs are barking and what's done is done. No llores, mi querida Dios nos vigila Soon the horse will take us to Durango. Agarrame, mi vida Soon the desert will be gone Soon you will be dancing the fandango. At the corrida we'll sit in the shade And watch the young torero stand alone. We'll drink tequila where our grandfathers stayed When they rode with Villa into Torreon. Then the padre will recite the prayers of old In the little church this side of town. I will wear new boots and an earring of gold You'll shine with diamonds in your wedding gown. The way is long but the end is near Already the fiesta has begun. The face of God will appear With His serpent eyes of obsidian. No llores, mi querida Dios nos vigila Soon the horse will take us to Durango. Agarrame, mi vida Soon the desert will be gone Soon you will be dancing the fandango. Was that the thunder that I heard? My head is vibrating, I feel a sharp pain Come sit by me, don't say a word Oh, can it be that I am slain? Quick, Magdalena, take my gun Look up in the hills, that flash of light. Aim well my little one We may not make it through the night. No llores, mi querida Dios nos vigila Soon the horse will take us to Durango. Agarrame, mi vida Soon the desert will be gone Soon you will be dancing the fandango
