  1. Ok, wow.. I'm not even mad. Castro FLEW out.. And then I heard the dreaded words: it's up to David Ross. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Two guys the Cubs should get: Bryan Shaw: Cleveland Jonathon Papelbon: we're looking at him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Yup, this guy should have been pitching for the Cubs a month ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I meant by learning a new position. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. We signed Soriano bc he was good.. If he still was good now, he wouldn't have been a free agent on June 9th therefore he shouldn't be pitching in tied games late. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. It is crazy to think that last year we were talking about our riches at shortstop with Castro being a stud, Baez destroying the minors and trading for the stud all-around Russell.. Castro will soon be hitting below .230.. Baez has shown a little rejuvenation after striking out more than Screech with Lisa, but our hope for him is "please don't be a bust," as opposed to "I can't wait to see him back!" The last guy on our list has shown the most promise and is our best defensive player on the field and we are forcing him to focus on defense as opposed to spending that time improving and developing his hitting, but hey it's ok, it's because the guy he's shifting to second base for is hitting .234, is excellent at hitting into double plays, and is a defensive liability at shortstop.. 7. I'm gonna guess that Castro is going to ground out next inning.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I like the Brad Lidge - Ken Giles comparison. Lidge had the nasty curveball though Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. This is really a series you HAVE to take 2/3 or probably sweep. With Hamels tomorrow, not saying the Cubs can't beat him, but it's not a Jerome Williams. These games are inexcusable for blowing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Bryant has looked really bad on low and away sliders the last few weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I believe Len said the Cubs are 16-9 when Ross starts. Granted, he's catching Lester in probably 15 of those games, but he is a solid defender, but he shouldn't be catching at any other time other than when Ross is pitching, especially since we have 3 catchers. Soler and Coghlan are both showing very good signs, Rizzo and Bryant have been looking a little mystified of late, but Bryant hit a home run today. Castro is lost. Russell is meh, but good on defense. Fowler is coming back better than the last month before the break. Our hitting will be there, it might be spotty, but that's the part I think we wait for it to come into it's own, it'll happen. The 5th starter is.. Well we don't even know who that is actually.. Deadline NEEDS(not wants): a starting pitcher that is equal or better than Hammel and at least one proven bullpen arm, more like two. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Cubs need two bullpen arms in the next week. I'm so tired of "his numbers are good." Well, why does it seem like every 9th inning is a roller coaster ride? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. So, Rondon back to closer role? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I think Lester's physique needs to become more of a topic. Opening day weight in 2014: 220 Opening day weight in 2015: 240 He wasn't exactly trim at 220.. Looks very fluffy these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. We aren't allowed to quote people now? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Starlin Castro and Robinson Cano were above average middle infielders last year too. Should we talk more about last year? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. you said that most closers are much worse in non-save situations. this terribly formatted article seems to indicate that the average closer is marginally worse in non-save situations, so it doesn't even back up the argument that you were making. by the way, rondon was better in save situations than non-save situations last season. strop was better in high leverage situations than medium and low leverage situations last year. shame that they were both apparently closers last year but no longer are closers this season due to a half season of poor performance in higher-leverage spots. What season is it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I can live with that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Actually in high leverage situations, they were middle of the pack in the last month and for the season they are among the worst. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. I just get a good laugh out of all these gives who live off of stats that are easy to see - then I prove my point with very definitive evidence and it's like "well..umm.. Look at stats since May!" It's like - just bc you don't agree with what I have to say, don't be the guy who disagrees just to do it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Most closers are actually much worse in low-leverage situations. They excel with the pressure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Trevor Rosenthal: High leverage: .175, .270 Low: .180, .256 This is what a closer is - they are good in high leverage situations - the Cubs bullpen has no one ever remotely close to the Papelbon - who's available, and Rosenthal who is on a team that's dominating the league Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Add more fuel to the fire: Justin Grimm High leverage: .353 avg, .476 Obp Low leverage: .180 avg, .220 Obp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Point being: the Cubs pitchers have great stats when it doesn't really matter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
