Por que? To simplify, tools over actual skills/production, and overhype based on a couple games. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you but there is always a player or two that sends his draft stock through the roof with his play in the NCAA tournament. How did that formula work out for Wade?
  2. But he's not clutch! Weird I know, but I root for Arod just so he sticks it to the New York idiots.
  3. Someone please rip into Blanco for swinging at the first pitch....
  4. Plenty of people are. Here is the scedule: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=chc
  5. Thats rather absurd. Its not like these guys are working 3 hours a day. They are working at least 6 days a week as it is. I know they are paid a ton, but an off day should be just that. Tell us about how you practice you job on your days off....

Why? It's not like he's hoping those guys will fall to him. He's guaranteed to have his pick of two of the three. Its not about that. If he makes Toronto or whoever else he has heard is trying to trade up / down (Boston? GS? Suns?) think he is interested in several players and a decision has not been made, someone might be willing to pay more in a trade with him to get the No. 2 spot in order to ensure they got their guy. I still think Pax has something up his sleeve, and even if we do stay at No. 2, we might be drafting for someone else, a la Webber and Hardaway in 94'. Like how the Clippers drafted Chandler for us? Or how we drafted Mihm.
  7. Option A: Continue you silly little protest. See no games, eat the money. Option B: Sell the seats, use the seats, give me the seats (whatever) By choosing A, sounds like you're the one who knows how to "piss away money" better than anyone in the Cub front office. All I can control is whether there is an arse in the seat I bought or not. I can't get the $$ back from the Cubs so I can't hurt them that way. All I can do is: A: Keep them from making $$ on beer and hotdogs and stuff and B: Embarass them with empty seats I can only control the 4 seats I have. By leaving them empty, some guy from a few rows back will fill them. If I can get a visable protest message in it's place, at least someone will see it (until either the Cubs or a guy from a few rows back takes it down.) All I can do is all I can do. You can do option B
  8. Mabry is no more a catcher than you or me. And my presumption puts Barrett and Blanco on the field at the same time on May 5th. You don't do it. So you're whole basis here is that if A)our ctacher gets hurt B) our firstbaseman(Nevin) gets hurt. C)Mabry is not actually the third catcher(He is!) Then yes, if all three of those go down in one game, not having a 4th catcher on the team was a bad idea. By the way, how did the games with both Nevin and Blanco turn out? (I am leaving work, so I won't be able to respond for a while)
  9. Does it really matter? If Soto and Blanco were both on the team all week, would anything have been different really? If Soto gets one start, it will be the same as if he were he 10 days. Much ado about nothing here. Why, yes it matters. They were playing with fire by having Nevin serve as the primary backup as well as having him in the lineup elsewhere. And? Worst case, scenario, Blanco gets hurt in the middle of a game....Nevin plays a few innings. Then Soto is with the club the bext day. No, worst case scenario is Blanco and Nevin both get hurt. Then you have nobody there for a few innings when Soto could have been there to begin with. Mabry is the 3rd catcher, just as he was the first two months of the season! On May 5th, lets say Barrett and Blanco get hurt (your presumtion) we would have been in the same spot.

  13. The Royals might have something to say about that. Hell, the Cubs might have something to say about that!
  14. Does this take into account games played that he did not manage? i.e. suspended
  15. No, he has 1,299 career K's.
  16. Do we really need to find new things to complain about? (This being the most pointless of all)
  17. Vance, While I doubt it will come up, if you need a mailing address for someone like "B" to send you the bags, just let me know.
  18. Doubtful. Here's my scenario. Fire Baker, Rothschild, Clines, Pole and Matthews. Promote Spier to interim manager. Promote Von Joshua as interim hitting coach. See if Billy Williams will serve as third base or bench coach for the interim. Promote other guys within the organization to serve in the other capaities. At the end of the season, interview Gonzalez, Dierker, and even Spier. Hopefully, Davey Johnson will be available for an interview as well. The new manager can select his own staff. What about the Cubs buying out Giardi's contract? What about Joey Cora who seems to be ready to manage a club. Davey Johnson? No thanks! He's a biter. ???? http://whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060522&content_id=1466517&vkey=news_cws&fext=.jsp&c_id=cws

  20. While that surely is over the top, trading Lowe for Clemens two months ago appears to have paid off.
  21. You didnt hear? Sweetpete spends a lot of time in the cards clubhouse. Just ribbing ya pete.
  22. Wait, you're a Pirates fan now? And Truffle too? Summuva... It's good to root for a winner So then Walt's plan is working.
  23. Rub it in. (No flash at work)
