  1. I never wanted a 26 year old man from Japan, sorry.
  2. Alex, I'll take "Keys words in the previous post for $200".
  3. Well, (773) 404-CUBS was not able to provide me with any addition information on Matsuzaka. But they did offer to mail me a pocket schedule.
  4. I'm going out on a bigger limb and say the Cubs were in the top 4 for bidding. So as usual, we will have bid just enough to lose but say we tried? Did you expect anything more? When was the last time we roped in a top tier FA that wasn't our own? I'm thinking Andre Dawson? And that was only because Dawson gave them a blank check. He paid the Cubs? WOW! JK JK
  5. cosigned sined (Think about it....)
  6. Although. obviously, Bagwell and Bonds won't anymore.
  7. http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/salaries/top50 Eight 1. Alex Rodriguez, NYY $25,680,727 2. Rogers Clemens, HOU $22,000,000 3. Derek Jeter, NYY $20,600,000 4. Jason Giambi, NYY $20,428,571 5. Barry Bonds, SF $20,000,000 6. Jeff Bagwell, HOU $19,369,019 7. Mike Mussina, NYY $19,000,000 8. Manny Ramirez, BOS $18,279,238
  8. It bugs me that Hendry won't just give him 5/75 if that is what he wants. This is getting ridiculous. I can't believe Hendry won't give him that. Either the tribune is wrong in the price or Hendry is being way too stubborn. Boy, I don't like Hendry. What benefit does a take-it-or-leave-it offer have for the Cubs. Resigning Aramis only keeps the status que, loosing him means Hendry will have to replace another hole. Why is it always one step forward, two steps back with the Cubs? Did I miss a step forward?
  9. "They said they will not make a decision on whether to accept until after a meeting of their board of directors -- not expected to be held before Friday at the earliest.' http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2654465
  10. http://lp.imageg.net/prod?set=key[name],value[MATSUZAKA]&set=key[number],value[07]&set=key[displaysize],value[220]&load=url[http://chains.imageg.net/graphics/dynamic/chains/p1838861_customback.chain] Just click it, I am struggling with the image posting.
  11. 12/19/01 December 19, 2001: Signed as a Free Agent with the Chicago Cubs. (ALOU)
  12. How sad is it, that as I sit here nearing 3:30 with a ton of work to still do.....I can't stop hitting refresh on this page.
  13. Well that is really up to the individual teams.
  14. Two more: one for the negotiations with Boras and another announcing the signing. Don't forget the Cy Young, WS game thread, HOF threads.
  15. I think the Seibu Lions would see that as a huge slap in the face. They'd be out millions in the posting fee they would receive, and they would have to pay Matsuzaka's salary for another year. I just don't see a Japanese player disgracing his team like that. I'm sure Boras probably said something like this, but probably just an empty threat IMO. I didn't think about it from that angle......I would hope you are right. I wouldn't put much past Boras though. Boras or not, Matsuzaka is the one making the desicions.
  16. Skiles still hasn't found his rotation. It's always in the last place you look. "Did you check your pocket?"
  17. Broken nose, headed back to CHicago for a mask.
  18. Tickets are always hard to get, make sure you get them next week if you plan to go. NOTHING is too geeky at this thing. I have gone 4 times (and going again this year) Cameras are everywhere, balls, batts, jerseys, anything you could imagine that can be signed. Be prepared to wait in long lines if yuo want autographs, the Q & A', are more often than not SRO as well.
  19. I like how Howie Long summed it up in one word: JEALOUSY. By the way, I got a good laugh over some SF fans who were crying that we were running up the score. # of points the Bears scored in the 2nd half: 0. We dialed it back nicely to save their feelings, thank you very much. And also went for it on fourth down though (twice)
  20. Every time you show that picture, I want to kill you just a little bit more. Where is Vance's right hand in that picture? I'm injecting Sammy. With confidence! And Sosa's left hand?
  21. How do we have a strong bullpen after trading away Eyre, Howry and Ohamn?
  22. Game tying double in 8th inning of game 6?
