  2. I'm working on my projection piece on the NL Central. I'm working on projecting what I think the players will do and then I want to plug them into a line-up compared to what I think other teams will do before deciding how to rank the NL Central. You could just do what the professionals do.... http://www.gamersgauntlet.com/history/19990724/thehat.jpg

  4. Mark this post down for best crow-eating candidate of the year so far. Where did Hendry say he was benching Murton for Floyd? If someone mused in an article that the Cubs weren't going to resign Aramis, would you believe him, too? Oh wait, that already happened on this board. Never mind. Bad example. If some guy writes an article in which he thinks the Cubs will let Zambrano walk, would you mark it down as a done deal and bash Hendry for it before it actually happened? Oy... Yes, you're right. Hendry is the guy who forced Todd Walker and Nomar Garciaparra to get injured so that Neifi Perez and Tony Womack could get all those at bats because he loves those guys soooooo much. And it was really the leprechaun that hides under Hendry's desk who pulled off the deals for Lee, Ramirez, Garciaparra and Murton without giving up much of anything. Those were just classic leprechaun-under-Jim-Hendry's-desk moves, weren't they. If we could get that leprechaun to be the Cubs GM... You're not going to convince me Hendry is a good GM, because he isn't. The Cubs record has gotten worse every year he's been here, and had he not gotten an extra 20 million to spend this offseason, the team would be just as bad off or worse off than we were at the start of last year. His baseball philosophy is wrong. He doesn't understand the importance of OBP and patience at the plate. Now, it may be that it was really Dusty and not Jim that decided to go with Hollandsworth over Dubois, Bynum over Theriot, Perez over Todd Walker (who should have played every day). Piniella may actually use a very different philosophy and play Murton over Floyd. If so, I'm wrong and I'll be glad that I was. But, given their track record, I'm not holding my breath. It does seem odd that a bench player gets a vesting option based on PAs. Why bother with being accurate when we can just make crap up?
  5. This is a borderline bannable offense Vance.
  6. It's cool with me homeboy. Mad props to JC!
  7. Don't worry what Muskat has to say, she is worthless! can we stop calling her Muskat? jesus. Is it really that big of deal? No, but that's because it really reflects more upon the childishness of the person calling names than it does upon Carrie. I have no problem with refraining from calling her Muskat, I just find it hard to believe that it is a bigger deal than openly taking the Lords name in vain. Call me childish, that is cool, but to continue to let people use language on this board that IS OFFENSIVE and not call them out is a pathetic lack of control in my opinion! You weren't even the one the brought up the "name in vain" comment.
  8. :x Twice, I was only able to ctah one though
  9. Don't worry what Muskat has to say, she is worthless! can we stop calling her Muskat? jesus. Is it really that big of deal? It's akin to nicknames such as "the Scrubs", "the flubs", "the t a r d s", "Sammy So-So", and "Corey" as far as I'm concerned. Word censor burnt ya?
  10. Agreed, although i think the decrease in WGN Games has a lot more to do with WGN going to a "network" affiliation and choosing not to broadcast all the Cubs games...someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that's a MLB call. The days of kids across the country becoming Cubs fans because it was the only thing on in the afternoons are long gone. The only way this would bite them is if they lost current fans (doubtful), or lost enough potential fans to offset the financial gain. I don't think that will happen. Unless their father's are already Cubs fans, kids in other states aren't hanging out watching the Cubs on summer afternoons and falling in love. i wonder if the braves have a big nationwide following given their superstation and recent success? they didnt have a harry caray to listen too, though. They did have Skip though.
  11. IMO, this is one of the first steps in the evolution of Pay-Per-Veiw sports. I am absolutely conviced that in 5-10 years all NFL games will be on the NFL Network on a pay-per-view basis. Baseball will follow suit. I only got Sunday ticket to watch Kansas City Chiefs games. I'd rather pay $5 per game that I normally wouldn't see, than pay to get every game in the league and waste about 10.
  12. Houston beat Stl in the 2005 NLCS. 3 straight NLCS, 2 of 3 WS. Still impressive though.
  13. Marlins phasing out the teal?
  14. This link was given out on ESPN's UniWatch http://www.majesticathletic.com/img/A6800-Cool-Base-BP-Jersey-On%20Field.jpg Cubs may have a new pre-game look.
  15. They got my hopes up inside 1 minute. We'll get em tomorrow boys.
  16. You're the section to my left, so just about even with the baseline or so. I really like the first couple row of the upper deck, and with the entire court in front of you you'll have clear view of everthing. We are on the opposite side of the court as the cameras, so any replays on the scoreboard are going to opposite way. You'll have fun, see you there!
  17. *THREAD HIJACK* I'm a season ticket holder, looking to lighten my load the rest of the way. I am only looking to recoup my costs on any game you want. My two seats are in section 332 row 9. Box office face is 40 or 46 each (game dependant) but I only pay 35 each per game so thats what you pay. If you are interested in any of the following games please let me know, and they are yours at (sub)face. Thanks so much guys, PM me. 19. Cubs don't have numbers on the brim.
  20. I met you, got one of the photos.
  21. Thanks. Furthermore, in private I asked McDonough about mending bridges with Sosa and he said he said that would be something that should happen. He said Sosa has made some indirect overtures toward that goal, but that he hadn't spoken to Sosa directly. He did acknowledge that the divorce from the Cubs with Sosa was a messy, but stated that "Sosa was one of the most powerful forces in baseball (not just the Cubs) over the past ten years" and stated it would be unfortunate if the Cubs didn't mend that bridge. When I stated that I'd love to see a flag with #21 on the fould poles along with those for Banks, Williams, Sandberg and Santo he said that someday in the future that should happen. In my talks with McDonough, I was really impressed with him. I understand he's a marketing guy, so maybe he just knows how to spin things, but I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being. BTW, the Trib says that Marquis is still welcome to take #21. Yikes....good luck with that Marquis. Wait, he does have a shot at Sosa's 66 HR's though between hitting them and giving them up. He was signing #21 under his name this weekend.
  22. Cause you could smoke
  23. They even have these giant concrete cylanders in the parking lot for dumping ashes from your grills. There are also a couple party tents were groups reserve them and the benches and get a feast in them.
  24. The first couple of years, they allowed smoking. Right after the WBC, the banned it completely. It was supposed to be banned during the WBC, but I still stole a smoke or two. Now, you get fined if you smoke anywhere on the stadium grounds. And it's not like you can just exit the stadium, either. They have guys standing at the exits that make you cross the street before you light up. Let the Nazi's have their stadium. The time will come when the Padres team will be really bad. When that happens, they will be sad that they shut the smokers out. It's not like it used to be at Jack Murphy/Qualcomm where the fans enjoyed a Padres game regardless of how bad the team was. The tailgaiting alone was a big reason to go to a game. Petco doesn't have tailgaiting. I can't wait to see the revolt. I was hoping it would have happened by now. Unfortunately, the other teams in the NL West have been pretty bad of late, delaying the inevitable. People tailgate at baseball games? Very much so in Milwaukee.
  25. Thanks for the help KC
