  1. The other M you're looking for is "Marmol" And of course O'Malley :D
  2. Excellent, the roommate switch.
  3. Stupid misleading thread titles.
  4. Shouldn't the Chicago tribune know if the Chicago Tribune made an offer?
  5. Terrible. Terrible.
  6. I will take the under. As will nearly everyone else. COOKIES FOR ME!! Told you guys! Damn you
  7. Jason Marquis is the really puzzling one. He's always been way too hittable for a sinkerball pitcher, and last year he was a train wreck. Plus, the Cards, who are an intelligent and well-run organization, apparently have no interest in him. That should tell the Cubs (a stupid, poorly-run organization) something. My experience with watching the Cards, when they decide to give up on a player the rest of the league should run screaming. How is that JD Drew guy doing?
  8. Exactly. It's totally seperate from the payroll. It doesn't mean he'd get a huge contract afterwards. Count against the payroll for MLB purposes or not, the Trib would be spending an extra 25 million this season. That money does have to come from somewhere.
  9. Not a problem... http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers_and_honorees/rules.htm Specifically look at section 5 on voting. If this is the case, shouldn't we throw a-holes and flagrant racists like Tie Cobb and Cap Anson out of the Hall? Also note that clip says "the player's record", If we are to look at that clip by the letter of the law, as you clearly wish, Pete the Player, is in.
  10. look at the thread title Touché Touché salesman, I too have an uncle.
  11. I will take the under. As will nearly everyone else.
  12. Zambrano, Hill, Zambrano, Zambrano, Miller.
  13. I actually agree with you. I can't remember where, but I have seen some estimate that Lee could sign for as little as 10-11 million per. I think it would actually be more like 12-13, but he would still be a better value than Sori, I think. I like Soriano, but not for 6-7 years at 17+ million. And as you pointed out, Lee is a monster at Wrigley. I would feel better about Drew at 2-3 years at 14-15M and Lee at 3-4 years at 12-13M than Drew and Sori. I would be particularly excited if Murton could play some RF (because I know C. Lee can't, his defense is brutal). Then you could move Jones far away from Wrigley, free up some salary to put into the starting pitcher sweepstakes (Padilla?), and pursue a Dave Roberts for leadoff and CF? I have no illusions we'll get Drew, he apparently doesn't want to play in Chicago, can't force a free agent to play for you. Why do you say he doesnt want to come?
  14. Sorry, but am I missing something everyone else in the thread is catching? I see nothing in Bruce's article about the Cubs being on the cusp of making a hard push for Soriano. Just wondering... ??
  15. It's not that he has speed. Its that he is just so much more comfortable there. Look at the production by spot in the lineup. THat is why you see people pushing for him to lead off.
  16. Let me repeat that: No, really...re-read it: Wow. I attempted to do this. And it works quite well.
  17. Opposite field power?
  18. i will give you scientific analysis: the cubs have never outbid anyone for a major free agent. once, macphail was super-excited because the cubs simply were among the finalists for mike hampton. Why did you make me remember that fiasco! Thats one move I'm glad they didnt make though... Wrigley is in a pretty tough neighborhood. I thought we did outbid on Hampton, but he choose Colorado because of the area and schools or some BS like that... I heard we offered the very same amount and he chose CO for the reasons you pointed out, but I don't recall that coming from a super reliable source.
  19. Dusty and Girardi.
  20. How long have you been on the list? Since 2003. How does a person get on the waiting list? There is a link on Cubs.com, someone i Know recently used ut, he was 20,000 or so.
  21. He can pay someone to lift them.
  22. It is a weekend pass. There are no individual day tickets.
  23. He won't be 39 til Nov. 18, 2007. :party1: But he's gonna be 39, regardless. He's also gonna be 41, 45, and 67. He will be 38 next season.
