  1. You should find someone at USSF and ask for your money back. Luckily, I'm friends with the team doctor so I didn't pay, but we tried going into the locker room after the game and they wouldn't let us for safety reasons because the teams were fist fighting in the tunnel after the game. Literally the whole thing was a disaster.
  2. I'm at this game. Total [expletive] show.
  3. Cardinals are in trouble. Cubs are probably the best team in baseball. Pretty sure they ended up with the highest team WAR. Last night was amazing.
  4. How can you really believe that......? It's just a circle jerk in that case. Because idiots who don't know anything about baseball don't add to the quality of discussion. There are bad posters when it's more exclusive, but far fewer than there are when the new guys show up. For every good new poster that shows up, like North for example, there are countless posters who show up and add literally nothing.
  5. Talk about that in the game thread. This isn't a thoughtful enough topic to warrant a whole thread. If you want shitty Cubs talk about random crap, do it somewhere else.
  6. Lol...god this is so bad.
  7. I feel ya bro. Go start your own board together. NSBB is best when it's more exclusive, sorry.
  8. He's only 32 and played in the majors as recently as 2 years ago. This isn't at all strange or interesting for the purposes of this board. If it was some journeyman hoping to work his way back, it wouldn't be interesting. But personally, I find it interesting any time a former star quietly resurfaces in the minors. And while he's not Barry Zito humbly accepting an assignment, he was as fairly big deal once upon a time. Lol...He was a big time prospect, but he was never really much in the big leagues. Best season was 2.7 WAR. Only had more than 1 WAR twice. Multiple seasons below -1.5. Memory serving you well, WSR. I don't know what's serving you, but BBR's serving me a 3.7, 3.6, and a 2.1, as well as a handful in the -0.3- -0.9 range, but no -1.5. My point is that he was monster prospect with a successful big league career. When guys like that sign a minor league deal with a comeback in mind, it tends to make some degree of news. And it's the first I'd heard of it. Oh, I don't know, maybe the other website that calculates WAR (and does it better)? "Successful" is a very low bar for you then.

  10. Almora would probably suck a lot more than just a little more than that.
  11. Yeah, that's totally true...except it's not. 30.0% K last year 25.4% K this year
  12. Reading through this thread, it just reminds me that the Cubs being good brings all the stupid back around.
  13. That's all great, but there's no avoiding the fact that the Cubs never get hot when they need to. The Pirates have won 20 of 25 and the Cubs haven't. That's not the sign of a team built for the playoffs. Hoping this is a joke?
  14. lol.. yeah funny thing for me about this twitter account is i wouldn't be surprised if it was a white guy trying to be funny. You really are the worst.
  15. I respect the people in this thread for not being meaner than they have been.
  16. I was considering Gray to be the higher value piece in Billy's mind in that trade. Reddick is a nice player, but has never OPS'd over .784. He had a 4.5 WAR 3 years ago, but hasn't topped 2.8 otherwise. I don't think you need to give up a ton for him. Can't just dismiss the monster season he's having right now out of the value equation, though. Definitely, but how much that increases his value is what I'm trying to figure out. His BABIP is 65 points above his career average.

  18. So, Torres + McKinney + Edwards/Underwood is ____? If not enough, how much do you think would need to be added? I have no idea. I'm bad at trades so I just pretend they don't exist until they're rumored/happen. Fair. My thought process was pretty much that it's too much for just Gray, maybe enough with Reddick, although you probably need to add another piece from the Cubs, but I didn't think anything really big for that final piece. I could be way off though.

  20. You're talking Billy Beane here, not Amaro. I said come close. That's 3 top-100 prospects, 2 maybe top-50. Maybe I'm underestimating Reddick's trade value.
  21. Would Torres, McKinney, and like Edwards/Underwood come close to getting Reddick and Gray?
