  1. LOL, what happened to the filter?
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=ss&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=1000&type=8&season=2012&month=0&season1=1953&ind=0&team=0&rost=0&age=14,22&filter=&players=0&sort=17,d yup Dave Cameron puts it pretty well: "History suggests that the leap probably is coming. Most guys who are above average players from 20-22 become excellent players in their mid-20s, and Castro certainly has the physical tools to become an excellent player. If Castro follows a normal development curve, he could easily be a +4 or +5 win player by the time he would have reached free agency" I'm not sure if you noticed, but that's a real mix of inspiring and uninspiring names on that list. I think it's more about where he ranks than who the other people are.
  3. He was young for all his levels in the minor leagues and he's already at .368 this year with the bad babip luck. He can easily become a .380/.390 wOBA hitter.
  4. I think if he becomes a more durable Longoria, that's best case scenario. Go check his Fangraphs page. Longoria is an absolute beast, and a generational talent. Being better than that puts him in Harper/Trout territory, and I don't think Rizzo is on that level. i meant longoria at the plate Rizzo should end up being a better hitter than Longoria, he's pretty much as good already. I would be a bit disappointed if Rizzo's offensive ceiling was Longoria. Evan has basically been a ~.370/.375 wOBA, I would hope Rizzo can be at least a .385/.390 guy, maybe higher.
  5. No. The only area he has improved on is his power. I am disappointed by the rate he is progressing. I haven't reached a high level of concern because he's still so damn young, but there is absolutely cause for some amount of concern when evaluating his development.
  6. No Yeah, he looks taller than that. Idk why he's listed at that height. I was looking at his page due to this thread and was really surprised by the listing.
  7. Is Starlin really only 5'10"?

  9. There's a reason he's projected to become the best first baseman in baseball. Everyone scoffs at the idea that Theo believes Rizzo is a generational talent, but he actually might be.
  10. Might be hard to OPS .1200 with an .800 SLG. I just wanna see someone throw up a .400/.400/.800 line for like 600 PAs. 1.200 =/= .1200 I understand. It just shows that his post was that ridiculous. Oh, ok. I obviously agree with you, haha. neely is practically an alien.

  13. i also don't think that it's a great idea to be spreading a rumor that a married man with a child is gay. Passing on something relevant to the discussion, that I heard from his friend, to a Cubs message board is hardly some sort of malicious rumor spreading. It doesn't even matter about Curry or not, say player X instead if it makes you feel better. This isn't me going to ESPN, and you are just being aggressive towards me because you are seemingly offended by the idea that someone who was married with a child could be gay. Instead of actually responding to the question I brought up, you fixate on an example I used to point out that homosexuality among athletes is probably a lot more common than people realize. I am still curious how often players know that a teammate is gay, because I wonder how much of this is made into a bigger issue than it would be otherwise by the media. ETA: I have no intention of arguing or having truffle act like he's the morality police, so if anyone is offended by speciation of an NBA player being gay then feel free to delete that post to end the "rumor spreading" that I'm doing...lol smh.
  14. the better question is whether steph curry's wife knows he's gay. I would assume beards are pretty common for gay athletes. The source isn't flawless, but I know he knows the guy and I don't think that would be something he would lie about. I don't think him having a wife is definitive proof that he's not gay.
  15. I had all of those 03 playoff games on DVR and I deleted them in disgust a few days after the NLCS. I really wish I hadn't. I have almost no evidence left that Mark Prior happened. I just found this on MLB.com's YouTube page...the full game 7 from '03. No Prior but we can relive Wood's HR and pretend it was a walkoff. Why the [expletive] am I watching this??! Yeah, I was watching too. I can't even describe the mixed emotions that video inspires.
  16. I don't feel like this will make that big of a difference to the actual teams or locker rooms. I feel like this is a bigger media issue than it is an actual issue. Maybe I am underestimating the internal reaction. I wonder whether teammates know a player is gay, but just don't speak publicly about it. I go to school with Magic Johnson's son, who knows Steph Curry and says he has sexual encounters with the same man every time he visits the city. How many of the players on the Warriors know Curry is gay? I'd be willing to bet some of them do, but they aren't (or at least don't seem to be) freaking out about it. If a player's friend knows, wouldn't some of his teammates know? I just feel like there has to be more awareness inside the locker room, they just aren't public about it.
  17. CUBS are 78-81 (0.491) vs. Miami CUBS are 36-39 (0.480) vs. Miami on the road CUBS are 7-14 (0.333) vs. Miami in April CUBS are 4-7 (0.364) vs. Miami in April on the road CUBS are 2-4 (0.333) vs. Miami on the 27th CUBS are 0-2 (0.000) vs. Miami on the 27th on the road Be real careful what you ask for ! All true, but this is likely the worst Miami team ever. CUBS are on a pace for 59-103, this is likely the worst CUBS team ever. Go CUBS !!! Definitely not the worst Cubs team ever, not even close to as bad as last year.
  18. Cute. Wrong, but cute. As always when we have these discussions, the thresholds aren't magical numbers where the statistic instantly switches from "completely meaningless" to "ZOMG now it means something!" in a single PA. I'd be willing to bet that literally nobody thinks that is the case.
  19. Bolded have no business being on a list of bad things to happen to the Cubs. Grace being a douchebag is annoying, but he was a very good player for the Cubs.
  20. You do realize that WAR is a very inexact science, right? A guy who averages -0.25 WAR per season is, for all intents and purposes, replacement level. You are just being annoying at this point.
  21. Yeah, but he checked in at 93 in the '97 offseason. There are plenty of guys who've been a greater presence in the Top 100 that never sniffed the bigs. 2007*
  22. Pretty much. Truth is, a lot of big league managers were gritty 25th men in their playing days, and as a result, they overvalue these guys. Lillibridge as a 25th man wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, but the problem is he's our 23rd man and worse than our 24th and 25th men, each of whom are pretty bad. The main difference between Lillibridge and Theriot is that Lillibridge doesn't have the delusional fans who think he's better than he is. Sadly, his manager does. How about Theriot was actually decent at baseball?
  23. I would think best case scenario is Barney have a strong season, trade him at peak value and let Watkins take over as the full time 2B next season.
  24. Yeah, screw Quentin. Bull [expletive] move, hope he gets drilled.
