    Having moved to Minneapolis this past spring, this is my first chance to watch these guys. Definitely an easy and fun team to cheer for, full of youth and some vets. A ton of heart, don't use injuries as an excuse, playing in a tough division and playing really well. It's been fun to watch a real baseball team, and Liriano and Santana make me feel bittersweet in the comparison to Wood and Prior. I hope they do really well, I'm on their bandwagon until Dusty gets fired.

    if he has trouble thowing K's he should'nt be in the bigs Then every pitcher should be in the minors, they all have games where they struggle with the strike zone. Yeah, but Hill has not been consistent enough in the strike zone to stay in the big leagues. So send him back to the big leagues to drop that sub-2 ERA, sub-1 WHIP, .171 BAA, and increase that 6/1 K/BB ratio? Or how about we let him try to improve his control at the big leagues. I mean, we could always send Rusch back out there. This has nothing to do with Rusch. At what point do you conclude that he doesn't have the stomach for the Bigs? Probably not now, but when? After way more than 50 big league innings I hope.

    Now that I live in Minneapolis, I have an actual baseball team to cheer for. They take walks, don't whine about injuries, play fundamentally well. Let me know when Baker and Co. is fired, because I won't go back to Wrigley until then. I'm going to the Twins-Tigers game tomorrow night and it should be some great baseball.

    I am watching the Twins-White Sox game up here in MN, and the Aflac Trivia was who were the last two pitchers on the same team to lead the league one and two in K's. 2003 Chicago Cubs Kerry Wood 266 K's Mark Prior 245 K's :( :( :( :( :( :( I guess Liriano and Santana have a shot at it. They followed that by telling me that 2003 was only 3 years ago, but it might as well be 25 years ago. :( :( :( Anyone sit and YEARN for the 2003 pitching staff? It's so damn depressing. Sorry for my blog. I figured some people might not know the answer to that so it works.

    Well when you're allowed to just assume things like the comments in parantheses, it sure works well. If Buehrle continues to have a down year (like he is) Contrares Garland (up and down, up and down = question mark) Vazques (not good at all this year) Garcia (not good at all this year) If I make those parantheses, then I don't see giving up McCarthy for a rental as as good an idea as some of you do.

    This is just like the argument of those who want to blame Prior for staying in the game in 2003 after his collision, or Wood for wanting to pitch out of the bullpen last year. It's NOT up to them. It wasn't Wood's decision to make. It wasn't Derrek's. Players should ALWAYS want to play. Management and coaching is responsible for it. Period. Gotta save my job, dude.

    They seem to need pitching. I'm not quite sure this is the great move the previous posters have insinuated it to be. Sure they can win games 10-5 right now, but come post-season, pitching usually always triumphs. And getting rid of McCarthy doesn't bode well for the staff.

    Ugh. Isn't there a rule that he can't be called up for 10 days after being sent down? The caveat to that rule is injuries they can be called up again due to injuries.

    You make ZERO sense. You almost make negative sense which is impressive. Firing Dusty and getting an interim manager will allow our youngsters to play and allow us to get an idea of what we have in our system. It will also allow us NOT to EVER see Neifi Perez batting 2nd. It will allow us to make sure Zambrano doesn't get ridden to an arm injury. In fact, despite the fact that "that's all you're going to say", it doesn't make ANY sense to keep him lame duck through the season.

    no need to dwell on the past..and personally I think Wood was ruined before he got to the majors because of his back issues he had as a kid.. as for Prior.. as I said in the other thread... I think he will return to form next year.That is just irresponsible. Wood wasn't ruined in 98 or 01,02,03. He was ruined by Johnnie B Baker. Plain and simple. Yup, Dusty caused Kerry to have to undergo Tommy John surgery after the 1998 season. Also, you claim Kerry wasn't ruined in 2003 yet claim he was ruined by Johnnie B Baker. But I believe Johnnie B Baker was the Cubs manager in 2003. So you are, in essence, contradicting yourself. Not sure but isn't Tommy John surgery on the ELBOW, and his current problems with his SHOULDER. (and yes I am sure it was sarcasm). And don't give me overcompensation crap, he was healthy for 3 years in 2001-2003. If he was overcompensating I doubt it would have taken 3 years to catch up with him with the way he throws. Dusty ruined both of them, plain and simple. He was ruined in 2003, the effects took place after that season.
