  1. Well If I went back in time, I wouldn't know that Dusty would abuse Prior, and I wouldn't know that Prior would have the worst luck with injuries so I'd take Prior again, no question. Even with what's happened to this point, I'd still take him, because he's still so young and Michael Barrett is a great offensive catcher. I don't think we've seen the best of Mark Prior. Not by a long shot. Maybe we've seen the best in Cubs uni, but I don't think we've seen the best.

  3. no but he's nowhere near the moron that Phil Rogers is. So he's got that going for him.....
  4. If he doesn't he has to answer to why he wasted 3 pitchers (2 good ones with plenty of upside) on a one year rental who sucked for half the year. Jim doesn't admit mistakes.
  5. Maybe we could get Bruce to slip him a mickey and then plant 50 copies of those stats over his briefcase and car. Whaddya say Bruce?
  6. Maximizing and protecting the value of corporate assets is something they can understand. Your post makes me hate Baker with all the possible spite I can muster in my body. The things I would say to him if I had a chance....
  7. Me too my friend. (apparently we can no longer torment ourselves with that electrifying "and Kerry Wood plays long ball!" YouTube.com video) I probably watched that clip 200 times. Never stopped giving me chills especially when they panned to the crowd outside on waveland (I think it was waveland).
  8. You've questioned others' opinions in this thread itself. That's how it works on message boards, as long as no one makes it personal. Yeah I realize how stupid my post was looking back on it. I apologize for that. The thing that ticked me off, was that he basically laughed in my face, because he thought my opinion didnt matter at all. If you using batting average instead of OBP as an argument for Pierre over Player X makes someone laugh, it makes someone laugh. It made me laugh too.
  9. Wood sat in the third inning with Len and Bob. Talked about his charity work with Children's hospital (which could hit 1 million this year). Bowling tourney is this weekend. He mentioned again that he doesn't want surgery and he wants to come back next year in a reliever role at first and pitch pain free. That's his main goal. Kerry said fans have the right to get on him even thought they haven't because he just hasn't been out there. He knows he's been a popular player and not gotten the patterson/hawkins treatment. Just my impression that he really wants to come back and stay in Chicago and would take an incentive-laden deal. I think he has enough pride to want to prove to the Cubs and it's fans that he still has it. Just seeing him makes me want him to come back.
  10. Anyone else find it interesting that Kerry said fans have the right to get on him? He knows he's been a popular player and not gotten the patterson/hawkins treatment. Just my impression that he really wants to come back and stay in Chicago and would take an incentive-laden deal. I think he has enough pride to want to prove to the Cubs and it's fans that he still has it. Just seeing him makes me want him to come back.
  11. Yea but would the bum Kerry Wood who Bilked the cubs out of money on purpose so that he could earn his paycheck and not pitch really take an incentive laden deal? Wouldn't that go against his goal of bilking the team out of as much money as possible on purpose, since he isn't a competitor nor does he care about winning? (sarcasm for Cubbie Rich)
  12. Fixed your post.
  13. Well in good news, we'll be SO bad the rest of this year, especially losing Walker, that no way Dusty can get extended. We'll be EVEN WORSE next year so Hendry will lose HIS job, and 2008 is looking up!
  14. Well this thread has successfully stopped me from slitting my wrists, so that's saying something.
  15. The only baseball player I WILL assign the term "clutch" to his Ortiz, all joking aside. The guys is as clutch as clutch comes.
  16. He has absolutely no confidence anymore in his stuff. He lost that in 2003 after Game Six of the NLCS. He's never been the same. He was pretty damn good last year.
  17. DLEE will be a big league hitter when he returns, Pierre is a big leaguer. I pray that DLee returns to MVP form. Izturis cannot bat 2nd next year or Lee will have another 46 HR/107 RBI season. Dude's fast and dude used to play 2B. He has to bat 2nd, dude.
  18. Hendry is a brain-dead pile of crap.
  19. stop being an A** because I am sure if you were making that kind of money and were a member of a struggling team... weather it be the Cubs or even the Royals... you would want to help them turn it around, just as these two said they wanted to do. Dude I'm one of the biggest Todd Walker backers on this board. I'm GLAD he's going somewhere he can win. I think Maddux epitomizes all class. Once again I'm GLAD he's going somewhere he can win. I'm just frustrated with this front office and managment.
  20. WE NEED PEOPLE WHO CAN ACTUALLY GET ON BASE. You can get that from other positions. If Izturis returns to his 04 form his 330 OBP will be just fine from the 7 spot. If we can hopefully sign Carlos Lee or Soriano this offseason we will be set. Pierre, Barrett, Lee, Soriano/Lee, Ramirez, Jones/Murton, Izturis, Cedeno. What makes you think Hendry will do ANYTHING to get OBP at any position? Huh?
  21. I'd have nothing but kind words too if my baseball-[expletive] GM got me out of this hellwhole known as the Chicago Cubs organization. I'd be jumping for dollars. They get to win now, and not have a total idiot running the team, and a total idiot managing the team.
  22. 20 years is enough. I'm done being a Cubs fan until something changes. (I'm 28, but have been a cubs fan for 20).
  23. I really wish this was NOT a family site right now. #@$!%$#%$!@#%$#%!@#$%!$%#@ Hendry piece of #@$!@#$!@$#!@$# (this is not so much my love affair with Todd, but the fact that I'm gonna have to see Neifi in the 2 hole at 2B the rest of the freaking year).
