  1. When do tickets begin to get shipped out?
  2. selection show starts in 2 minutes. Time to multitask!
  3. Before that he said we had a crappy season last year, and there are no excuses, not health, not unhealthy pitchers. 3 million people came to support the Cubs and they deserve better than that. Fitzsimmons gave Hendry the financial means to go out and get who they wanted and they did. 2/3 of the 300 million was on two outstanding players (Soriano and Ramirez). then moved on to how great Wood looked, and how he feels the weight loss (clearly not his own) is going to help Woody this season. He expects good things and thinks Woody just wants to prove to Chicago he's the pitcher he can be. then on to the above summaries regarding prior and lilly. He's not concerned at all about prior/prior's velocity.

  5. SSIA. started 2 minutes ago.
  6. I think that's been his nickname for quite some time, not one Len came up with. He was referred to by that nickname on this board at least for the last couple of years. Oh I know that. That's why I like that Len calls him that. It's certainly possible he saw it when he was on here and decided to use it.
  7. I like how Len calls him The Riot.
  8. can we talk more about Grace sharting himself. Woody's in trouble when they hang out tonight.
  9. I wouldn't mind seeing him in the pen and if he pitches well, doing a smoltz type deal. That being said, Wins are the worst stat to judge the effectiveness of a pitcher on. They are a team stat not individual. I prefer to look at a combination of ERA+, K/9, K:BB ratios
  10. Not this argument again.
  11. How was the blurb on the Badgers?
  12. it's sad that the AP needed to run this... talk about pressure What do you mean? It seems like a pretty standard report of his outing. Will the AP be releasing info about Lilly's first outing? 5 seconds after he finished...? Sullivan released info about Prior within moments of his outing I know I'm agreeing it's ridiculous.
  13. Your signature is making my blood pressure rise. I feel my fists clenching and cardiac arrest about to ensue.

  15. Doesn't talk about velocity in the AP blurb.
  16. absolutely. that's what i said in my previous post.
  17. It's called PASSION! No it's called overreacting/total lack of baseball perspective. It's spring training, and means little. Particularly, for a pitcher injured for the majority of 2 years. As long as has normal soreness, and isn't hurt, today was a good day. If he's throwing 85 at the end of ST, then worry. It's part of the fan base. Go to Boston and NY message board and you'll get the same thing...Cubs fans are passionate. Passion is fine. Thinking the man is done pitching after 40 pitches in his first ST game in 2 years after 2 years of being away with injuries, is a little different than passion. I love this team with tons of passion. I'm just not going to meltdown due to one bad outing by Prior. Let's see how he progresses through ST. Get over yourself. It's not one bad outing. His injury history is ridiculous and it's more than reasonable to be severely skeptical at this point. I don't think Prior is done, but people could have legitimately come to that conclusion way before today. Ok son.

You can't tell me you're not a little worried about the fact that he was only throwing 83-85. Am I a little worried? Maybe slightly, but on a scale of 1-10, I'm probably at a 2 or 3. Like I said, there could be various reasons. Maybe he was only going 80% velocity the first time out? Maybe, his arm strength isn't peaked yet? I'll wait a couple more weaks to really worry. Just like I don't think Woody is going to be Gagne in 2007 due to his 1-2-3 inning.
  19. I'm with you with that man-love CubbieChris. No one will surpass him.

  21. There is no one that rivals the man-crush I have for Kerry Wood.

  23. You do realize this happens to EVERY team in baseball right?
  24. Cubs fans in game threads NOT showing perspective?    I'm TOTALLY shocked.
