  1. Hairston takes 8 pitches Corey takes 1. Corey falls below .240.
  2. Any chance in hell of sending Maddux to the Pen and having either Mitre or Hill become our 5th starter? That way we are guaranteed to not have his option vest. Oh and you guys were right about not IBB Carlos Lee in the first, I defintely would have pitched around him though.
  3. I'm gonna club dusty over the head. If first base is open and there are 2 outs, WALK CARLOS LEE. For Christsakes how stupid is he?
  4. Yea, you could get SO much more for Cedeno, than Preston. If Hendry does this, he needs his head checked.
  5. If We're talking about dream lineups how bout this. Kotsay - CF (Some Power/OBP, speed, gold glove) Walker - 2B (Some Power/OBP) Lee - 1B (Power/OBP, gold glove) Dunn - LF (Power/OBP) Ramirez - 3B (Power/OBP) Sheffield - RF (Power/OBP) Barrett - C (Good Contact/Some Power/OBP, good defense) Cedeno - SS (Speed/OBP)
  6. So let me be the great prognisticator. Todd Walker (really good, but lefty) will be benched Corey (slumping beyond all slumps, lefty) will play Hairston (will sit even though he could start) Perez (will play, cedeno will sit) Dubois will start (and he should). This is where I give Corey the night off, play Hairston in CF, and play Walker since all he is doing is hitting. My lineup, we'll see how close I am. Hairston Walker Lee Ramirez Burnitz Dubois Barrett Perez/Cedeno Maddog. Now an alternative if Cedeno plays could be this: Hairston Cedeno Lee Ramirez Walker (to protect Aramis) Burnitz Dubois Barrett Maddog Would anyone complain with either of those lineups? Can Dusty hire me to make up the lineups?
  7. I'd even add Dope and maybe even the Gooze to those 3. Do you get a hard on right when you hear the word Dunn, or even done since it's a homonym? :D
  8. If Ronny went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, a BB, and a stolen base and one caught setaling, 2 runs scored, do you guys think Dusty would start him 2 days in a row?
  9. Theres plenty of room inside still. When I'm tired, I'll let you drive ok?
  10. Can "Keeping Corey at the top" just be stickied to every page?
  11. I'm building it. Let the kid play. Who's on it with me?
  12. I love your avatar cpatt20. Thought I'd let you know.
  13. We're starting Hollandsworth, Patterson, Burnitz. We should be desperate too. Do we have anyone who Beane would covet, given his track record, needs, and preferences? Murton? So we put a package together centering on Murton? Would you do Murton/Dopirak/Mitre? Those 3 for Kotsay and a bullpen arm? I'd think about it, depending on who we got for the pen(Ducscherer(sp?), Garcia, Street, maybe even Dote?) If you think you're getting street, you should give me whatever you are smoking, because I would really appreciate it.
  14. I would like you to tell me what Woods career Run Support numbers are. I'd also like to know how many 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, 2-0, 3-0. and even 4-1, 4-2, 4-3 games he's lost. He still is like 18 games over 500.
  15. Why all the Wood hating in this thread? Mark my words, by the end of this year, he'll be back to 2003 form, and then it will all dissipate.
  16. I don't think Corey will be happy when he reads this. I'm sure Dusty isn't happy either, but Dusty is the moron who keeps our worst OBP guys from the top of the lineup, because he has a perpetual hard on for speed, even though he doesn't realize you need to get on base to USE speed. Good for T-Walk, at least someone realizes MVLee should have people to knock in, in front of him.
  17. He's gotten 12 at bats in the last 9 games. Even a veteran would lose his stroke playing that infrequently. That is not a fair platoon. He's only had 128 AB's on the season and he really only got regular starts over a 3 week stretch, and now he's on the brink of being dumped from the team. If every rookie on every team was discarded this quickly MLB would be overrun with 50 year old players. How many more AB's is Hollandsworth getting, since apparently, Dubois is never being used, and Holly is always out there. 30 more? 5 or 6 games more than dubois?
  18. I think the issue here is that this will never happen. Do you see Dusty playing Hairston full time in LF? I don't. Just because Dusty won't put Hairston in LF doesn't mean you go out and get somebody he will play who won't be much better. This stinks of the Bellhorn deal. Dusty refused to play Bellhorn, so Hendry goes out and gets Hernandez. He won't put Hairston out there for a reason; he simply can't play a corner OF position defensively for an extended period of time. He did last year in Baltimore and made 1 error in 42 starts. Most of those starts came in the corner OF (24 RF, 15 LF). He's much more comfortable on a corner. Dude, this is Dusty now. He can't actually think. People call him late at night and tell him what to do.
  19. I guess, maybe I just have a hard on for Kotsay. But his numbers would only go up after playing in Fla/SD/Oak to Wrigley.
  20. We'd only have to pay him for part of this year. And we have a glutton of pitchers.
  21. His last couple full years OBP: .370/.350/.360/.365/.350 His highest K total is 89 during that time, and he's got just under a 1:1 BB:K ratio. He has also has 5 HR and 37RBI and the ability to hit around 20 HR 65ish RBI/ IMO, He is much different than Hairston with better defense
  22. I agree. Corey is not producing the offense to be a corner outfielder, and the Cubs would be wasting his speed by putting him in LF. He would be more valuable playing CF somewhere else. The problem is potential. Corey is brimming with it, and Hendry has to fear that he will bust out (like Andruw Jones is doing right now) somewhere else. Really tough to trade away someone with Corey's tools, but the decision has to be whether the Cubs can win it all this year with a player (Kotsay) that will be upgrade this year, but possibly not in the future. Tough call. This is why Hendry has the GM job, to make tough calls like this. Is it possible that a switch to leadoff and left could jumpstart Patterson? Kotsay is better than Dubois/Holla IMO and the OF defense would be very solid. I don't know how comfortable CPatt would be going into that left corner either so it's also very possible CPatt could struggle even more. Don't you think moving to Left would be an easier position for Corey? Could you imagine our team outfield speed defense with Patterson/Kotsay/Burnitz? It gets me excited thinking about it. I can't imagine a move to an easier defensive position would affect Corey's offense negatively, in fact, intuitively, you'd think he'd be able to worry less about defense and more about getting his stroke down. I think getting Kotsay would ONLY be a positive thing for this team, imagine the RBI possibilities with this lineup: Kotsay .370 OBP Walker .370 OBP Lee Ramirez Burnitz Barrett Patterson Cedeno Pitcher. This is a no-brainer, as long as we don't have to mortgage the farm. We are STOCKED with major league ready starting pitching: Wood/Prior/Z/Maddog/Rusch/Wellmeyer/Mitre/Williams/Hill
