  1. Go Rockies, Pirates, Cardinals  , D-Backs, and Giants!!!
  2. Well taking walks in the 8th spot isn't that important. (Normally, unless he's leading off the inning)
  3. Given how his tenure ended, I doubt he'd be thrilled to come back. Plus, his numbers this year, plus the fact he's signed for 2006, mean that we'd have to give up decent prospects for him. You dont think hed want a shot at the post season? From what I remember he was pretty well respected in the clubhouse- he was definitely a leader.
  4. They couldn't sign him because they didn't know what would happen with Sosa. Sosa dealings messed up our entire off-season. If he was gone early, they would have resigned Moises. I wouldn't mind a trade for him now, as long as we give them basically wortheless players, and take his salary. That production would more than offset his worthless defense and baserunning.
  5. We're not gonna catch the RedBirds. It just won't happen. I hope they Sweep the Brewers, since the brew crew is only 1 game and half behind us. I'm rooting for WC teams to lose now. The only time I want STL to lose is against us.
  6. It should have been a sweep. Playoff teams don't lie down like dogs against a rookie pitcher. I don't care who he is. The Cubs' advance scout needs to be taken outside and shot. The same thing happens every single time they face a guy the first time. 3 Game Sweeps are tough, 4 game sweeps in the ML are nearly impossible. I'd ask Fred to compile some stats on the percntage of times a team actually swept 4 games. I bet even amongst the great teams, they rarely did it. I know the Sox did it this weekend, but i don't remember how many other teams have done it. You're incredibly unrealistic if you get upset for losing one game out of every 4, even against the pirates. I'm upset at the WAY they lost it. There's no excuse for that. None. The fact that it happens just about every time they face a new pitcher points to horsecrap advance scouting. I see your point. I thought you meant that it was absurd they didn't sweep the Pirates because they are a bad team. IT could be the scouts, or it could be this team just gets antsy when they don't know someone. It was the only game in the past 7 where they looked super impatient.
  7. Mozilla rules, anyone still using IE needs to move into the 21st century. IE blows (it's Microsoft).
  8. What's with all this positivity? We win one series against the freaking Bucs, and everyone thinks we're good again? Well, we're not. We define the word suckage. Beat another crappy team you bunch of low life morons. Maybe then, I'll start giving you some respect.

  10. Maybe so. The Red will posess more challenges for our starting pitching. But the bottom line though is, they're doing pretty much exactly what they should have done in the first half of the season. Yes the ERA's will be higher against the Reds, but we should be able to score at will against their JV pitching staff. Which is what worries me.
  11. We've been over this before. 1) Could not find the plate for long stretches with a map and a compass 2) Fell in love with that slider of his, threw it for times 6, 7 pitches in a row, used it as his main pitch instead of a setup pitch. Well 1) He's magically found it now. 2) His ERA/ (and WHIP I believe) are better against the tougher league. If we've been through it before, you haven't convinced me yet of why he should be a stud elsewhere.
  12. Cubs.com says that they have a 1.37 ERA over the 6-1 streak. 8 runs in 52+ innings.
  13. Bump for Additions. I wonder if Jerome is gonna break this streak of ridiculously good, long, starting pitching outings.
  14. I love the Farns. We could use a guy out of the pen with that intensity and a 1.80 ERA. It's nice to have someone on the team who'll stand up for teammates. Especially with a 100 mph heater. I wouldn't want one of those in my gut.
  15. Good thing our team has great chemistry, because they're already out of the division race, and quite a bit behind in the wildcard. I'm glad Sammy's gone, because if the Cubs had this record with him on the team this year, he'd shoulder 100% of the blame, which would be unfair. Just like last year. Regardless, Burnitz is a Gamer. He hustles everyplay, plays defense about 1000 x's better than sosa, not as good of a hitter as sosa in Sosa's prime, but his hustle impresses me the most. He's quiet and goes about his business. Chemistry isn't gonna help a team get better, but a team with bad chemistry wouldn't last through the injuries we've had and the 8 and 7 game losing streaks. I think it's the tangible that's allowed us to rebound everytime we've thought they were in the grave. I'm not saying it was all Sosa, but he was a part of the distraction and detracted from the cohesivness of the team.
  16. Y'all have your opinions, I have mine. There isn't a doubt in my mind, that he was on the juice, just like Jose, Barry, Giambi, McGwire. If you think what happened to him is just "normal decline" you can have your blinders on. And that's fine. In the Sosa/Burnitz comparison, Burnitiz Pwning Sosa in just about every category. And he's a significantly better player in teh clubhouse. I'm happy with the pickup.
  17. Why wasn't Nolasco on a lot of your lists. He seems to have good numbers. What's his knock?
  18. I understand eventually as an organization, you give up on people, I just wish the Cubs didn't give up on a 6'4", 99/100 mph flamethrower. I thought this was a horrible move from the beginning, but everyone cited his character and mental problems. Mental my , a%% you can't teach 100 mph. You stay extra patient for that kind of stuff. and now he has a 1.80 ERA with a great WHIP. We wouldn't need that in our pen would we Hendry?
  19. Nonsense dude, man, there are some things that you don't understand, that I just understand. First Neifi can hit, Holla can hit I can't shelve them. Second dude, speed is THE most important thing at the top. I want larceny man, I need that at the top. Also, going LRLR is important man. That's why Aramis is five. I also need him to protect Burny. Burny doesn't walk, he hits. It's called hitting dude. I said what I'm doing and that's what I'm doing.
  20. No Juice = Sammy Sucks
  21. Damnit Whitey. I hate GB DP. 7 and 9 hitters come through though.
  22. 17K's and Just 2BB's issued by Duke so far in his young career. Not good numbers for this Cubs team.
  23. 1 run will NOT be enough to win this game I assure you of that. I like letting them get 1 and then putting a bunch on them after that. It's worked the past couple days.
