I'm not advocating that ALL young players play, but at some point you have to play them. If the organization feels that Dubois is not the type of player they want to build upon that's fine by me, I agree. I'd rather have higher OBP guys. Like Matt Murton. Dubois has better OBP numbers at higher levels than Murton, in addition to better power. And plays defense like a blind person. He's better suited in the AL as a DH. I really believe that. Regardless: I am not judging this deal, until I see more. It's the only mature and responsible way to judge a trade For instance if Jody, healthy, becomes our everyday LF next year, and hits .280/.350/.450/.800 with 25 HR and 80 RBI, plays solid defense this could be a very even trade. He's had those numbers before, let's just see what happens before calling hendry an idiot (not saying you're doing that Cpatt20). Like I said before, I don't understand how people can judge a deal, before either guy has even landed in the other city. It's ok to discuss it, but saying it's bad it's good, Gerut is better than/worse than Dubois, is incredibly short-sighted. That's all I'm saying. Derrek Lee's first full season: AVG/OBP/SLG/OPS .233/.318/.414/.732 What a pathetic loser. For EVERY derrek Lee you pull out, I could pull out 10 that didn't turn into him. At least 10 probably a larger ratio. I don't doubt that. The point is that Dubois' career, or his shot in the bigs, is hardly over. He still has the potential to turn into an impact bat. Stupid online sports debates. :D no you are right, Dubois could very well turn into an impact player, but I don't see it happeneing in the near future. Hell, I could be wrong, I could be right. Let's just wait to see what happens, before judging this trade.

Just one other thought before I REALLY leave. :wink: This maybe be a good trade for BOTH teams, because Dubois is an attrocious fielder. Just awful. In the AL he can DH. Gerut can play any outfield position, has shown power, and if he gets healthy could basically be a great OBP guy with some power, lots of walks, not that many strikeouts and above average defense.

All I have to say, before I head to bed, is that I find it FASCINATING, that people can judge a trade, in black and white, before the guys traded have even reached their new homes. Clairvoyancy is a skill I need to develop.

His production at every level of the minor leagues, including a 1000+ OPS at AAA? His inability to Run, Field, Throw, Hit for Average, Take a BB, Not Strikeout....... It's like he's the second coming of Hank Aaron or something if you read these boards.

All everyone's saying is that it seems odd, given that we already have Hollandsworth and Grieve, and Gerut isn't better than either. True, right now. He has way more upside than either in the long run.

Also, He looked like a really solid player before his injury. Hendry said he wouldn't be getting a rental. This could be a great piece to the puzzle a young LF with power and high OBP

So we complain incessantly about free swingers, and now we trade a million strikeout prospect for a 1:1 BB:K ratio with decent power and high OBP and it's a bad move? I don't know if it's bad or good, I think judging this deal today, is shortsighted.

Jody Garut (indians) traded to Cubs, for Jason Dubois. Just heard it a second ago. Don't know much about Garut, but the guys are saying he's got a really good bat.
