  1. Nice play Neifi. Say what you will about his bat, he's solid defensively.
  2. Actually, his AVG with RISP is in the .390's. Thats higher than his overall average. Oh yea, I know overall it's really high, I was more commenting on the last 2 or so weeks since Hairston and Walker have moved to 1/2.
  3. Is it just me or has DLee not looked good with men on base lately.
  4. How do y'all know I don't look good in butt floss?
  5. God, I can't wait til Nomar's back, and I don't have to see Perez in the lineup. Can we PLEASE send Cedeno back to AAA, so he can get AB's? Christ. Neifi, PICK A FIGHT. PREFERRABLY WITH AN UMP. BUT A PLAYER WILL DO AS WELL. That's an order.
  6. They gotta be out soon, game starts in an hour. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
  7. We actually have one of the easiest second half schedules according to the SOS.
  8. I'd probably venture a guess. They Tried. A demotion is a pretty big motivator for someone with Corey's talent.
  9. I'd wear a prom dress to work if Dusty does that. I'll strip down to a g-string if Cedeno starts along with them. Not that any of you want to see that.
  10. Because of 2 ABs? He should start because he's better against RH than Holla and Hairston. You always gotta be so literal huh cpatt?
  11. very few things annoy me more than people who call prior injury prone. ugh. My response to that usually is: "If I take a bat to your elbow or run you ever with a golf cart, and you get hurt, are you injury prone?" that usually shuts em up real quick.
  12. Good Solid eveidence there! (No sarcasm) I didn't think he would be hurt either. I often don't know where some players "injury proness" comes from. Prior is another one of those.
  13. Thank you. I wasn't discussing the trade itself, I was discussing hendry. You picked one small part of my post out and decided to focus on it. And I don't want to talk about the trade, I want to talk about Jim Hendry: The complete Works. Obviously the trade last nite influenced this thread, but I'm more interested in peoples faith or lack thereof in Hendry, rather than the trade.
  14. yes, you can totally know this after a whopping 150 big league plate appearances  Well people already know that Gerut is gonna be a worse ML player than Dubois by the end of their career so why can't I know the opposite? Because it's different than how you feel? it's okay, dude - being a hypocrite is all right with me! I'm not judging the deal, I never did in my post. Learn what hypocracy means before you use it. I believe Dubois is AAAA player based on what I've seen. I have no idea what Gerut will be. What you quoted was me playing devils advocate. I have no idea whether gerut will be worse or better than Dubois.

  16. I appreciate your concern in regards to creating a new thread for a similar discussion, I really do. My only concern was the line about Sosa. There are many posters on this site that love still love Sosa and will back him regardless of how he plays. With that being said, a line of "Sammy hurting the O's updated" (IMHO) makes this a thread not to discuss the deal but a place to rip on Sammy. I understand your concern, I will relabel the the thread to not be so inflammatory?
  17. But Sammy didn't even play in that game so I don't see the point of that thought. In the series Sammy went 1-5 on the 16th with 5 LOB but that's certainly not as bad as Mora going 0-5 with 6 LOB. Sammy was 3-5 (July 15th). I didn't see it mentioned, but I didn't pay much attention to the article. Was there a calling out of Tejada's errors in the series? Whay about when Tejada went 0-5 on the 14th and stranded 4? Is there an article appreciating the fact that Sosa was responsible for 2 of their 3 runs last night. If someone wants to discuss Sammy then they have all right to. However, putting the line "Sosa hurting the O's updated" is where I personally draw the line. I had no other way of describing the article that I added on to the thread. I could have created a new one, but I didn't want to create a new thread solely for that article. Know what I mean?? I just wanted to link a piece from the Baltimore press. If I just would have topped it with the old name no one would have known there was another article linked.
  18. Note that I did touch on his failures, I just believe his successes (Ramirez, Lee, Hundley Trade, Nomar, Lofton/Simon) far outweight his failures (Bartosh)
  19. Well they make a good comparison to Raffy's swing vs. Sosa's. No they don't actually. That article is a piece of drivel worthy of wrapping fish and not much else. Sammy is not getting the job done, end of the story. I don't know why people feel the need to vilify the man too. Same goes with Patterson. It wasn't enough that he was mired in a season long slump, people had to make him out to be a terrible person too. But hey, if it makes you happy.... This was a Baltimore based article, not Chicago. Just because you still like Sammy, doesn't mean THEY do. If you don't rip, Dusty, Macias, Perez, or haven't RIPPED Hawkins, Hundley etc. Then what you say makes sense. Otherwise you're just being selective. Sammy has done nothing good for them at all. It's one thing to expect Cubs fans to not vilify him, it's another to expect his new team to do the same.
  20. Well they make a good comparison to Raffy's swing vs. Sosa's.
  21. If Jim Hendry has shown anything, it's the ability to make shrewd moves, that often are not what the fanbase expects. In 2003, he dealt for Aramis. IIRC, the entire fanbase was screaming for Lowell. He had the foresight and scouting and people to realize how great Aramis would be. In 2003, he got Lofton, when we desperately needed a leadoff hitter. IIRC, the fanbase thought he was old. Instead, he helped lead us to the NLCS. In the offseason, though people had wanted Thome a year earlier, Hendry held off, thank god. He traded Superhero Choi for Lee. Even then, there was MUCH criticism for getting a gold glove .280 Career hitter. We know how that has turned out. He also got Michael Barrett for MUCH cheaper, when EVERYONE wanted Pudge Rodriguez. In 2004 he worked his magic to trade 3 scrubs for Nomar. Though it hasn't turned out the way we wanted, this was a great trade at the time. Now, he did trade Farnsworth low (Though Novoa and Moore could be a steal for Farnsie), Sosa low (though I argue we got back solid guys), and Bear Bay for Bartosh, every GM has some deals that work, and other that don't. Now in 2005 he's traded AAAA Dubois for Gerut. Any many people are confused, doubting, or declaring the trade to be bad. Don't you think Hendry has earned your faith with the moves he's made so far as GM? EDIT TO ADD And before 2003, Hundley pulled off the swindling of a lifetime in getting rid of Hundley for solid contributing players. (Just remembered that)
  22. So seeing how I was supposed to be in bed an hour ago, please don't quote my posts anymore. I'm addicted to NSBB. :D
  23. Your right. Your slam was directed at a large group. Those who do not agree with you. Saying that something is the only MATURE and RESPONSIBLE way to do something, implys that what other people do is immature and irresponsible. Hense, a slam. Sorry Roast, I don't see it. He was replying to me too. I know that can be kind of a fine line, but given his pasts posts about evaluating the trade, I don't see an attack. I thought it was, by the wording and the....well....size of the line in question. I will step back now. This is why i am not a mod. My apologies, the size was more for emphasis, to show CPatt where I was coming from, because I had mentioned it before and I didn't know if he saw it or not. See my above post.
  24. Your right. Your slam was directed at a large group. Those who do not agree with you. Saying that something is the only MATURE and RESPONSIBLE way to do something, implys that what other people do is immature and irresponsible. Hense, a slam. Wrong. I believe that to judge a trade before you've even seen the players is not a mature and responsible decision. If you feel otherwise fine. You might believe that waiting to see the actual production post-trade is unnecessary. You have that right. I don't believe it's the right thing to do. But Whatever, I'm not arguing with you about whether what I said was an attack or not. Think what you want, if a mod has a problem with that rather innocous statement of my PHILOSOPHY they can let me know.
