  1. I simply cannot understand the total stupidity of Dusty Baker.
  2. So we line out hard to everyone, and they bloop single our asses. Great.
  3. Holly's getting the Patterson treatment from the crowd.
  4. man am I sick of these cheap bloop singles.
  5. Couldn't make it. It took a real bad hop. get in front of it instead of trying to play it off your side then. Seriously.        He was holding the runner at first. When the pitch flies his momentum carries him toward 2nd base. He couldn't get back to get behind it. Plus it took a hop right off the grass.
  6. I thought you said you didn't hate Iowa? I don't really Hmmm... I am pulling for you guys to get trevor hughes tomorrow Hughes is headed to Wisconsin. you never know. Probably but I would rather you see you guys get him and forget about sc. Seems like the only guy we got a shot at is Dahlman. I think the fact that Alford is somewhat still on the hot seat is scaring away a lot of recruits and the fact that Alford wants to go back to Indiana. Alot of the Iowa faithful tried to pretend that they didn't care that you lost Bohannon to us, but his stock has just shot up this summer. He's gonna be a baller, and Alford has been subpar in recruiting, especially losing a guy of Jason's caliber to an in-conference rival. But I'm done with the Badger talk.
  7. I thought you said you didn't hate Iowa? I don't really Hmmm... I am pulling for you guys to get trevor hughes tomorrow Hughes is headed to Wisconsin. He hasn't committed and rumors are floating about. I'll believe it when I see it. But if you're right, having Gavinski, Bohanon, and Hughes would make us ridiculously tough. But let's PLAY BALL!
  8. Neifi's not in a slump... he's just being the player that he is, which is below average. It's silly to keep starting Neifi regardless of his poor performance. Yes, well Dusty claimed today that Neifi is great shortstop who isn't a utility man, and is a starting shortstop, and he can't bench him for Cedeno. Then he said he didn't know what he'd do when Nomar came up. Great. I think there is even a stronger argument for Murton playing, but he's not a savvy vet like Holly who can't be benched.
  9. Looks like the heavy stuff has moved through and the end is in the West Suburbs right now. It's got 40 miles to go. http://image.weather.com/web/radar/us_ord_closeradar_large_usen.jpg
  10. Yes but Dusty is OBSESSED with having the lineup RLRLRLR against Righty's. I bitched about this last week, no one seemed to agree, or they just didn't respond. But it irritates the hell out of me. Dusty has his obsessions, and they have to be ripped out of his hands for him not to use them, be it players, or strategies.
  11. Quite Astute baseball knowledge to use a team stat like Wins to judge a pitcher. Just an FYI almost ALL baseball scholars understand Wins are almost (nearly) worthless as an indicator of pitching performance. WHIP, BB/9, K/9, K/BB, ERA, and .BAA are all above a Team stat like wins. I'm a huge Kerry Wood fan and agree there is no point getting mad at a guy that has been a big contributor to the '98 and '03 playoff teams because he gets hurt. It's not like it is from any lack of effort or desire by him. However, it is incredibly frustrating that this keeps happening. I can almost hear the mantra now: "It is nothing major. We just took him out as a precaution and to err on the safe side. We will reevaluate tomorrow morning and if he is feeling OK he won't miss a start." And then he will be out for 6 weeks. I understand frustrations. He's my favorite Cub, and he frustrates me as well. But I just can't stand the Kerry Wood bashing, the second he get hurt. He plays with passion, he's incredibly loyal, he's a fiery leader, he has the respect of his teammates, he's a good teammate, and he's never not tried 100 percent. I respect him immensely, and I hate hearing him badmouthed. Maybe that's my problem. I dunno.

  13. I totally agree. I'm not surprised. OldHappyCubFan - That's fine if you feel this way, but to say he's done nothing impressive in his career, is just BS. Considering playoff wins don't grow on trees in Cubdom, I'd say it's a big deal.
  14. I guess you have a pretty short memory. I'm sure you weren't saying that during 2003.
  15. Well that's just wonderful. No Wood = No WC.
  16. Yes because I'd like to get into our stellar bullpen in the 4th inning. Why the hell would you pull someone after 64 pitches?
  17. That might be the most ridiculous post I've seen. Because Wood was just due for HR, since he's a 50/130 guy?
  18. That's Right, I forgot, Neifi has just had bad luck.
