  1. 3 walks already today. That's a good approach at least.
  2. I'm willing to bet we get calls too that other pitchers don't. I'm sure other boards look exactly the same. For the most part the calls even out.
  3. well we should have a risp for lee here then
  4. Are you implying it was a bad call or that he's slow? I don't get the came on TV up here in Madtown.
  5. Brewers up 3-0 on the mets in the 1st inning.
  6. Yes, the first inning of the game is the way to judge how the offense has changed.
  7. Was he annoying when he hit the game winner the other day?
  8. Yeah but what is it the next time 30 days? Thats a lot of cash and if he gets caught a second time that has got to hurt when its his turn for free agency. Currently: 10 games 20 games 30 games 60 games year suspension commissoners right to do what he wants. What Selig proposed: 50 games 100 games lifetime ban I like Selig's proposal.
  9. I don't know how well...hitters will be able to tee off on him. *Just shakes head at obviously bad humor* I do want to punch Bowa in the face everytime he says "Woods".
  10. While his OBP is pretty decent, he's still a .275 hitter. On an expiring contract. And his defense is pretty suspect (There were times to cringe watching him chase some balls down this year) And then there was the baserunning.... Don't overvalue him. He's also moving from a team that blows (no offense to you personally), to a contender(how realistic is yet to be determined). Don't undervalue the motivation of playing games that matter and being surrounded by real major league talent. Edit to Add: His OBP is more than decent, it's the best in the NL amongst LO hitters I believe. His defense is certainly suspect, but you give a little to get a little.
  11. Well, I was origionally not in favor of this trade either. Not so much because I didnt like it, but moreso because I wanted somebody bigger. Now that I've had a night to think of it, I really do like this deal. To answer some of your concerns. - I doubt Lawton will simply be a rental. I could see him sticking around a few more years. And Gerut was young, big whoop. He had a good but (according to those who interpret stats such as babip better than I) insanely lucky year. And he hasnt come close to returning to those numbers. - A ton of salary?? The pirates are giving us 1 million to go towards his salary. So, that takes it down to 6.5 million dollars. Thats hardly a ton. - This move alone does not. But This combined with getting Nomar back in the lineup. And williamson and wood in the pen, that very well might. The only thing that concerns me is his pre/post ASG splits. He is always very good the first half, and very bad teh second. But we will see. I still like the deal very much. I believe we are only paying 3 million or so, since half his salary has already been payed plus 1 mil. Can someone post the total amount of salary we are paying?
  12. Another fantastic trade by Hendry. Giving up only Gerut and getting an everyday high OBP player AND getting cash too ($1mil). For a trade season where just about nothing happened, and really, nothing big at all, this was a fantastic job by Hendry. Will it be enough to get them over the hump? Maybe, maybe not, but the fact is the impact players weren't available without mortagaing the farm (Huff, Dunn, Ramirez). He once again did what he could to help the Cubs where they needed it. For that, I'm bumping this. (I do wish he got some relief help, but maybe he knows something about Williamson and Wood that we don't).
  13. Actually, it appears, that if there is a player Dusty hates more than a rookie, it's Hairston. I really don't see him on this team for much longer. Now Murton might not play, but it's because Holly will platoon with him and face the majority of batters, for better or for worse, until his slump just cannot be defended any longer. My lineup: Lawton - RF Walker - 2B Lee - 1B Ramirez - 3B Nomar - SS Burny - CF Barrett - C Murton - LF And when Dusty's Butt-Buddy(ies) has(have) to play Lawton Walker Lee Ramirez Burnitz Barrett Holly Perez or Lawton Walker Lee Ramirez Burnitz Barrett Murton Perez or Lawton Walker Lee Ramirez Nomar Burnitz Barrett Holly
  14. We'll see if his pride is greater than 9 million free dollars.
  15. Can you explain why it's not? I'd love to see an upgrade in LF, but Williamson and Nomar have not contributed anything all year, so getting them is much like trading for somebody. I don't know why you even bother trying to be logical and well thought out as much as you do.
  16. And I just wanted someone to explain this team to me. Oh well it's been entertaining so far. Cpatt20 is winning though, because he's mastered the bold shouting, capital shouting, and italics emphasis.
