  1. That's a great read. Nomar's a stand up guy. Good to have him back. Hopefully it won't take TOO long for him to get back in the swing of things but i'm sure he's gonna need 10-15 games (50 ish at bats) to really get his swing down. Maybe he'll just forget about the first week and play like he did during spring training.
  2. Man how the heck is he 0-3 with THOSE numbers. 2.45 with half as many hits as walks. Almost a 1.00 WHIP. Talk about bad run support.
  3. LoneStarCubFan = find a dictionary. Poise and heart have absolutely NOTHING to do with each other. This team has PLENTY of heart to still be at .500 after everything that's happnneed. They aren't gutless or heartless or any other vitriolic adjective that makes you feel better when you spew it at them. They are talented, but not good. They aren't coached well, and they rely too much on the long ball. They don't execute. All of these are reasons they suck, not because they have a lack of heart. Today a team with a lack of heart would have rolled over. They didn't. Dusty rolled over when he filled out the lineup... How much you wanna bet Neifi bats 6 again tomorrow after going 3 for 4... Oh he'll have to play 2nd with Nomar back, but Walker was 0-4 today so he needs a day off... I'll bet you any amount you want to bet, that Neifi is NOT in the lineup tommorrow.

  5. You are correct neely however, in the game that Lee tried to steal 3rd, IIRC the Cubs were up by several runs so they could make risky plays that would not normally be made in a closer game. They were losing by a run. my bad. then it was a stupid play by lee  He already admittted it wasn't a high percentage play. But it's nowhere near not covering first, or throwing to third last night.
  6. Don't worry, they'll put it together this weekend. Haven't you heard? The National League's slumpbuster is coming to town. Is that the Reds, Pirates, Brewers, Or the entire National League West?
  7. But you can consider Rothschild as good as gone at the end of the year. Gotta have a scapegoat and it ain't gonna be one of Baker's boys (Pole, Matthews, Clines, Speier). Speier is one of Hendry's picks..not Dustys. I agree that Baker probably won't lose his job this year but, if Hendry has given Baker the guys he has wanted and Baker/Cubs struggles for the rest of 2005, it may be possible it is his last year....slight as it is but possible if it went that way. I'd be surprised if Baker didn't finish out his contract. Hopefully no more 4 year contracts to bad managers after that. I'd really like to see an up and comer, not a known commidity manage this team. I would like to see someone like a Ned Yost.
  8.          100 million payroll. That's so cheap.
  9. I thought they showed a lot of heart. They just aren't very good. I don't know how people can say that they didn't show heart. But then again, when the cubs lose, every pessimistic fan exaggerates.
  10. Please watch the personal attacks. I'm sorry if you don't like the truth I speak. I'm not going optimistic, when the situation calls for some pessimism. The truth of the matter, is Burnitz is hovering around .260, and has had a ton of chances batting around the likes of Aram/Lee. I agree with no personal attacks. But, OHCF, you seem to be a bit of a pessimist and that was what Badger was trying to say..IMO. It should have been said in a different manner though. Sorry, I lost it. I couldn't handle another innacurate, plain wrong, negative post. I blew my gasket. If we could ignore posters on here I would have done that instead. My apologies.
  11. Please watch the personal attacks. I'm sorry if you don't like the truth I speak. I'm not going optimistic, when the situation calls for some pessimism. The truth of the matter, is Burnitz is hovering around .260, and has had a ton of chances batting around the likes of Aram/Lee. There was no personal attack, I asked if you ever shut up. All you do is post negative crap every post every game thread. You aggravate EVERYONE else in the thread. Plus almost nothing you post is accurate. Burnitz is not terrible offensively, he is average offensively. In fact I've only seen one thing you've posted that had truth behind it. And that's that the players were fundamentally awful yesterday. Other than that everything is a gross negative exaggeration. Maybe if you posted something other than everyone on the cubs sucks, and everything sucks, and the cubs are gutless, and our pitching sucks etc. people wouldn't get so irritated with you. In fact I think I saw someone clap in response to my post.
  12. I know you're a mod and well respected, but I don't think I've once seen you come into a thread and not criticize the ump. Not once? That might be a bit of a stretch. Why should Diaz not have been criticized there? He had a strike zone in that AB that we won't see at any other point in this game and it came with a RISP. Well then criticize them when the calls go our way too. There are plenty of games in which we've gotten away with pitches and i don't see a peep. It just seemed like every Game Thread, there is criticism of umps. Calling balls and strikes is subjective, it always has been, it's part of the game. Some guys squeeze others have enormous zones. I don't think the umpire is even CLOSE to as one-sided as people (not necessarily you) on these boards make it out to be.
  13. If you talk to people around these parts, the umps are out to get the Cubs. No, we realize that ALL umps are perfect. So perfect in fact, they've never missed a call or a blown pitch ever, in the HISTORY of baseball. No I just realize that blaming umps is the dumbest thing in all of fandom. Calls even out, they always do, no matter if you think you're moises "fox mulder" alou and think the Umps are out to get you.

  15. I know you're a mod and well respected, but I don't think I've once seen you come into a thread and not criticize the ump.
  16. Please, I need the drugs that you are on. They were down by 3 yesterday and tied the game. This team can score runs and thus far, this pitcher doesn't look over powering. Looks like he's missing his spots. Myers has been very good all year. Probably their ace. But I wish I had your optimism.
  17. I'm having the most craptacular day of my life for other reasons. I should just try and remove myself from this game thread.
  18. And then he strikes out the side. Comical. This team is comical.
  19. T-Walk's batting .280 That's news to me sincer he started the game at .300. He must have no at-bats to drop .20 with one fly out.
  20. Great Prior sucks today too. I'm having an incredibly crappy day. This is not helping.
  21. I think I want our guys trying for hits, not for sacrifices, especially T-Walk.
