  1. Yeah, but that wasn't where Ross or Lester wanted that ball up 0-2.
  2. No. I don't think he makes it to 3rd, unless he guesses play at the plate off the bat. After some thought, you're probably right. But it would have been nice to at least press the issue. There's really no excuse for taking a few leisurely steps before running on that ball.
  3. I want to feel that way, but it was a hard hit and Cespedes was coming in on it. There was almost no chance.
  4. I didn't want to sound like Kaplan, but yeah, he probably should have. But that was a stupid send by Jones, not the first of the year, either.
  5. There's really very little about TBS's coverage that hasn't been awful. I'd never have thought I would long for Fox's coverage.
  6. TBS's strike zone has seemed pretty far off all postseason to my eye.
  7. Yeah, there's lot's of talk about how different the Mets are (and they are), but the Cubs are a much better team now as well. There was no Schwarber, Fowler and Castro hadn't hit well all season, and Arrieta had yet to go full Arrieta. Our offense is generally much better, owing to the growth of the kids. The Cubs were better post-ASB, better post trade deadline, and did it in a tougher division. That's not to take anything away from the Mets very real improvement, but it's not as if they gained a lot on the Cubs. Regardless, this should be a good series.
  8. That should just about do it.
  9. I don't know if this was already posted, but it's pretty damned cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG6lpifuGE8
  10. As evidenced by the simple fact that they have dedicated a section of their website to displaying their inferiority complex fueled hate of the Cubs. I hate the Sox more than I should, but that's really pathetic.

  12. Watching the two Schwarber shots, I just sat back, grinning smugly at the TV. Baez's had me jumping up and down, mostly because of the timing and the unexpectedness.
  13. Baez's was the most significant and timely this far, but Schwarber's two uberdongs have been demoralizing kicks to the nuts of the opponents; the moments when the enemy became fully aware of the futility of their feeble attempts to endure the dongpocalypse. The one in Pittsburgh was the better of the two. The sound, the sight of it disappearing into the night, and the concise yet authoritatively swagtastic flip and strut...it was perfection.
  14. I want to say that I prefer the Mets, because we've owned them this year (though that was before the offense woke up). But it boils down to the fact I'd rather face DeGrom/Syndergaard than Kerhsaw/Greinke.
  15. i like 33anda3rd a lot Yeah, he's a good one. My least favorite is probably Cronos, because he puts on airs, but is just a jackass. But compared to boards like Cards Talk, GRB is a pretty civilized place.
  16. I think Heyward's ball may have been homer regardless, but Peralta's double and Piscotty's 9th inning HR (though irrelevant) would have been a flyouts. As you say, Schwarber and Fowler's homers last night were wind aided, but the rest were legit. One poster over there called Javy's HR today a "pop-up that got out", which was absurd.
  17. Yeah, with a few exceptions, the thin veneer of refinement came off of many of the posters over there as this series got away from the Cards. From calling the umps dirty, blaming all the dongs on the wind (admittedly a couple last night were, but that's it) and generally refusing to admit the Cubs earned this, they're just an average bunch of bitter meatballs. Of course, their team just got bounced by their bitter rivals, so some of that is to be expected. The smarter ones know the Cubs are here for a good long while.
  18. I don't drink, like ever, but all this celebration has me feeling like sharing a bottle of bubbly with the wife (even though she doesn't give the first [expletive] about baseball).
  19. That is delightful. Someone should forward that to Deadspin.
