  1. Especially in RFK. I remember last season Jose Guillen measured the alleys and said it was actually 390'.
  2. Apprently the Mariners offered Millwood 44 million over 4 years. I don't think I could live with that.
  3. he also said that they're targeting milwood. offman knows nothing about baseball, and he's right there. Ofman first reported the Pierre story a month ago saying that it would likely include Pinto. So, um, he may know a little something. The anti-Score sentiment here is pathetic. The SCORE is pathetic.
  4. mlbtraderumors.com (I know) posted that Bruce Levine says a trade for Kearns is still in the works, only with Williams replacing Mitre.
  5. But unlike Sosa, Hendry should have no trouble dealing Walker. Low salary + excellent production. Wait, we could use some of that......
  6. I love these doofuses on the SCORE saying that offense is superflous as long as the Bears are winning. I think it was Murph who insinuated that the alternative to having no offense is having offense but no defense. "How mant points did Pittsburgh score and still lose? 31? Is that what people want, to score points and lose?" IIRC, the Bengals handled the Bears as well. I think having both would work just fine. The Bears would be a juggernaut with even an average offense.
  7. What is a "true" leadoff hitter. Paint a picture for me. Give me some numbers to work with. If he's saying not a true leadoff hitter in the Cubs eyes, I think I understand. The Cubs have their central casting version of the true leadoff hitter, and when they are focused on one thing, they usually get it. Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a true leadoff man, and narrowing down your search for greater production to fit the mold of your scouts' preconceived notions of what each position should look like is only doing a disservice to your team. If he is saying that Wilkerson isn't a good option for leadoff, then I completely disagree with him. My criteria for a leadoff man: .350+ OBP and legs not made completely of lead. Wilkerson would be great.
  8. What makes you think that if the Cubs got Lugo Cedeno would start at 2nd? Exactly. But if Perez is a stater at either SS or 2B, I want a proven commodity at the other position.
  9. I think you are overstating. I remember last season O'Brien wanted Hill and others for Dunn. Throw Williams, Hill, Pinto and Nolasco/Marshall at the Reds and they'll cough up Dunn, IMO. Dunn is due a big payday soon, and the Reds won't want to pay it.
  10. That would be acceptable production for RF, but it's not close to a guarantee, and wouldn't even be top notch. Wilkerson, if anything, is likely to be in the low to mid 800s in OPS next year, very solid for a CF. Couple that with Abreu in RF and suddenly you've got a very good offense, with good production in the OF as a whole. I agree, but everything I have heard is that the Phillies want a front end SP, the Cubs aren't going to give them Prior or Z. I would trade Patterson to the Nats for Wilkerson, and throw Williams, Hill, Pinto and spare parts at the Reds for Dunn.
  11. Atlanta can make a pretty attractive package for Lugo. I just dont understand why Atlanta is looking outside their organization for a SS. They have Betemit who hit .300 last year, and they have Tony Pena Jr. And better yet, they have a manager who will actually play them.
  12. You can't miss a boat you don't intend to take.
  13. Atlanta can make a pretty attractive package for Lugo. They've probably had it together for weeks. I fully expect the Braves to trade for Lugo. Fixed.
  14. I'd rather have Wilkerson, but if Hendry acquire Lugo, Pierre and Dunn, We'd be in damn good shape, IMO.
  15. I'd much rather have Wilkerson than Pierre. Much, much rather.
  16. Do you think Hendry will pursue a SS, such as Julio Lugo? Or is he really content with Cedeno/Perez?
