  1. If you're UT and you score, do you onside kick? I don't think they can allow USC another possession and still win the game.
  2. And he's surrounded by a ridiculous amount of talent. I'd bet that if you give him an average college back and just above average recievers, you'd see a big difference in the results. Reggie Bush is the catalyst in this offense, not Leinart.
  3. If I were an NFL GM, I would take Young over Leinart without a nanosecond of hesitation. How do you suppose he'll fit into an NFL offense? You'll have to design a scheme for him to maximize his talents. I'm not sure, but I'll take the more talented player. I think Leinart is good, but a product of a good system rather than a great QB. That's what they said about Montana. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Leinart is no Montana. To be honest, I think Carson Palmer is better right now than Leinart will ever be. I'd like to see how Matt would do without Reggie Bush in the backfield.

  5. It's chickens--t officiating. They are afraid of changing the game with a call. those c-usa refs in the outback bowl certainly didn't have that fear. That they didn't. I still can't believe that onside kick offsides call. And I don't even like Iowa.

  8. too early in the game to worry about that yet. Still, nothing much to lose by going for it. If a TD would put you down either way, why not?
  9. Why didn't UT go for two after the TD?
  10. I think the surprise is the timing. Why now? Why not earlier in the offseason when Hendry had alot more payroll unaccounted for? Why wait until most of Hendy's available dollars have been spent? I'm not convinced he would have done it otherwise. I think a NTC might be at play here... According to this yahoo article, Prior informed the Cubs of his decision on November 29th. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-cubs-prior&prov=ap&type=lgns Well there it is, I guess.

There's just no way Prior wasn't going to do it. It wouldn't have made any sense not to. Then why'd he wait until now? To see how the market was. Coming off a short season, he probably wanted to feel secure he would get a decent raise in arby, and the contracts given out to Millwood and Burnett increased those chances. I also don't think the timing makes a difference, because Hendry had to have planned for it.

  13. I agree with you there. :D How? I could understand if they've been a thorn in the side of teams (other than Penn State and Purdue lately), but they have consistently sucked in the Big Ten for years. How can you hate them for that? I hate every Big Ten team because they keep kicking our asses in b-ball every season. Sure, we occasionally pull off an upset or 2 in the tournament, but we never do a damn thing throughout the regular season. OK, I'll bite. I lived 15 minutes outside of Iowa City for most of my life, am going to attend Iowa in the fall, and I can honestly say there is no entity in sports I despise more than Hawkeye basketball. It hasn't always been that way. Heck, when I was kid I didn't mind the Hawks at all. I don't like to generalize, but Hawk fans are the worst excuse makers and whiners I have ever had to deal with. Most of them can't accept that their team sucks, but whine and blame injuries and officiating all season long. At least when the Illini were bad, I could accept it. And when the Illini suck again, I will accept that. But if's, and's and but's are the mantra of most Hawk bball fans. When they win, it's because they are great, but when they lose it is always because of some outside influence. If I sound bitter, that's because I am. Whenever the Illini (or other teams) would beat the Hawks, it would be because: "(Insert Hawk name here) was injured." or "The refs were out to get us." or "You guys were lucky." Hell, even the local news media were that way. I know that basic homerism is to be expected, especially in the heart of a team's territory, but I have lived in a lot of places in my life and nowhere I have I seen it as blatant and unfailing as in Eastern Iowa. But it's not all bad. I made a killing in bets with Hawk fans. :P
  14. This isn't really a story. Everyone had to have seen this coming since the ink was dry on the contract.
  15. The way this game has gone, having to go for two might increase the chances of conversion after a TD for both teams.
  16. Yeah, guys are trying to knock the crap out of other guys rather than actually tackling them these days. Like they give points for hard hits or something. It's called making ESPN's Top Ten. Ain't it the truth. It's sad that making the highlight reel takes precedent over playing good football. It's hard to count all the times that guys whiff on tackles because they are just throwing themselves around.
  17. Kelly might need federal protection if that happens.

  19. OMG. I would so not want to be Kelly if PSU loses this game.
  20. C'mon PSU, score and put this thing to bed.
