  1. I propose we launch Theriot into the sun.
  2. You can not believe in clutch, but there is little doubt anti-clutch exists, nor should there be. People often try to do too much, or they fear the spotlight. The people others call clutch are those who maintain an even keel. Clutch is a myth, but anti-clutch is very, very real. We just witnessed it.
  3. If Furcal gets a hit, I am going to start believing in curses.
  4. I might kill someone between innings. WTF is going on?
  5. Explain. Bunting in the first inning is dumb. Yeah. Who wants runs? Yeah. Who wants to give away outs? Well, you apparently. After the way the offense looked last night, I would have been fine with it just to get a run on the board.
  6. Take the hittable pitches, swing at the crap. Love it.
  7. PLEASE don't let him kill you like you let Pudge kill you in 2003. When in doubt, WALK HIM!! You mean like pitching him in a spot he wants you to and exploits nearly every time, and you can't seem to figure out why he keeps getting hit after hit? Yeah, none of that again, please.
  8. I don't know how a Cubs fan can be 100% confident about anything positive happening, particularly in a crapshoot like the playoffs. If you aren't a little bit nervous, you're either some sort of wonderful mechanical man or you're nuts.
  9. The way they were playing, the Mets would have been a good match up for the Bad News Bears (pre-Whurlitzer, even).
  10. To be fair, he was pretty good the past few years prior to this one. Instead of his usual second half surge, he got even worse.
  11. Sabathia just made his third straight start on 3 days rest and when he goes in Game 2 on 3 days rest (because there's no way the Brewers will hold him until Game 3) that will be four straight starts. Who knows if he's going to tire out and fold. Sheets is obviously hurt, Gallardo just came back and is on a limited pitch count. If the Cubs get past the Dodgers, I'd much rather face the Brewers than the Phillies. Agreed. It's not going to happen, though. The Crew emptied the tank over the last 10-12 days, IMO.
  12. What's their incentive? He's not a FA until after 2010 and is the only pitcher with any ability on their roster save Soria. I have to believe that if they were going to trade Greinke, that would have done so at the deadline.
  13. It's at the point that when he comes in, the question isn't whether he'll hold the opponent down, but how many runs will he surrender.
  14. The players aren't behind the song, unless there's something I don't know. And the song is indeed very tired at this point. Like I said, I'm happy for die hard Brewer fans, but Braun and Co. can all take a long walk off a short pier.
  15. Until I started watching the Mets games closely down the stretch, I had underestimated just how bad that staff was. I have no idea how they stayed in contention with that Howrystorm of a bullpen. And man, did that offense go into hiding at the end. I really think they are going to have to clean house.
