  1. That's true, but defense isn't this team's problem.
  2. Illinois can definitely beat any team in the Big 10, but they are just as likely to shoot 27% on any given night and lose to the worst team. Tonight's win was huge, but I'm still under no illusion that they will compete for the conference title. The talent is there, but the team still look like they're all just aimlessly wandering around the perimeter on offense. I don't like to be a wet blanket, but I'm chalking this one up in large part to Paul just losing his mind in a manner we probably won't see again. Then again the team is pretty young and consistently better play might come with more continuity.
  3. How does that happen? Divine intervention, I'm not sure how else to describe it. But I'll take it. Even funnier: Paul missed his first 3 shots from the field and had 4 turnovers in the first 7 minutes. At the 13:29 mark of the first half, Paul was 0-3 with 4 turnovers. I know it. Early in the game he put up that pathetic airball on a floater and thought "well, looks like Brandon will be crapping the bed tonight".

  5. Well, I wasn't expecting that. And holy [expletive] [expletive] Brandon Paul
  6. I really like this deal. If he pitches really well you can spin him to a contender at the deadline for more prospects. The low cost and club option would make him an attractive target. If things go really well this year and it looks like the team could compete in 2013, you get to keep him at a reasonable price.
  7. lol After the way Alabama owned them, he should be thrilled with #2. And after the way he played, he should be somewhere in a corner with his tail between his legs rather than saying stupid delusional [expletive].
  8. That was a shameless attempt to make him emotional. Totally bush.
  9. If he puts Lee in the offense starts moving, it makes Miles look even worse.
  10. Yep, I think MiLB.TV is a must-buy for this coming season. Oh [expletive], I totally forgot that existed! How much is that? I think it was 20 or 25 bucks last year. Oh hells yea. If they get Turner, milb.tv gets my $$$ At that price I'll pick it up regardless. I had no idea it was that cheap.
  11. At this point, that's not going too far out on a limb.
  12. If you didn't know the score, you'd think it was 50-0. This is total domination.
  13. Was that injury as bad as it looked? It looked awful live and I can't bring myself to watch the replays.
  14. TT's irrational and intense hatred of him, I think. It's really not all that irrational. I'd generally consider actually getting worked up over a mediocre player being used in a fairly reasonable manner to be just a smidge irrational. So you've seen TT acting out on this besides hyperbolic posting on a message board? LaHair is bad and worthy of scorn, but TT's epic hate is far out of proportion to how bad he actually is. That it is so out of character for him makes it amusing.
  15. TT's irrational and intense hatred of him, I think.
  16. That's not setting the bar high, but it's a distinct possibility. And knowing there is some kind of organizational direction will help tolerate the losses.
  17. Spoken like a true expert Spoken like someone with common sense who understands the difference. There's a difference, huh? So which girl is it ok to [expletive]? Is it the passed out one or the blacked out one? The problem is that you can't always tell if another person is "blacked out", especially if you are also drunk. A person might be awake and simply presenting as drunk but have no memory of events the next day. If the was unconscious or nearly so, that's a different issue. Of course not having sex with really, really drunk girls at all is probably a pretty good policy.
  18. That's how I'd define it. When you are so drunk you lose time, you're probably compromised to the point that you'll do far dumber [expletive] that if you were just drunk. The handful of times I did that to myself I usually had to endure some account of something embarrassing and/or dangerous I had done the night before. Now if this girl was in that state, what happened is at least in part (or totally) her own fault. You can't blame other people for the stupid stuff you do because you can't control your drinking. Now the problem becomes determining whether she was conscious or actually passed out.
  19. he's a kid, though. he goes out and gets drunk, some drunk comes home with him and blacks out after who knows what happened. is the lesson here not to go out and drink and pick up chicks? that seems a bit limiting since that's one of the huge perks of being a pro athlete. That's one of the huge perks of being alive. Well, there's a difference between getting drunk and drinking until you black out. The former is fun, while the latter can lead to all sorts of...unfortunate things.
  20. I suspect the reason behind most of WSR's posting issues stem from just spewing stuff out without much thought, like stream of consciousness, except light on the consciousness. If he re-reads anything he writes before he hits the submit button, I'd be shocked.
  21. nah. http://images.wikia.com/muppet/images/4/44/Rizzo1.jpg Lol, this.
  22. I don't. I just care what I think.
  23. Nice post. Not everyone here has been thrilled with the lack of flash thus far (myself included), but it is refreshing to finally see a real, sound methodology at work. Moves like this one and the Marshall trade are indicators that we have top notch executives calling the shots, and those reasons are why I can suffer what is coming in the short term with a positive attitude.
  24. Yeah, the fact that he was moved back to the pen made him much more expendable. As a starter he would have had enough value to make me waffle a bit on this, but whether or not he'll ever be that is in serious doubt, and he certainly wouldn't be any time soon even in a best case scenario. As a reliever, he was only marginally more valuable than guys like Carpenter, imo. Rizzo, otoh, fills a dire need with no one comparable in our system (aside from maybe Vogelbach, who is years away). This is a great deal for the Cubs. Cates is just icing.
