  1. Since there's no other games thread, I'll post it here. Worst call I've seen in a long time on a clear home run ball in the Mets/Yanks game. Riley (3rd base ump) calls it a homer, it WAS a homer without any question whatsoever, then the home plate ump comes over and calls it foul and it is taken off the board.
  2. This is a good point, but Lou has one thing Dusty will never have - a good philosophy. An emphasis on patience has turned this offense into what it is today - despite his oftentimes mind-boggling ingame moves. I have yet to find a manager who didn't make a few mind-boggling in game moves. And I agree, Lou's overall baseball philosophy is superior to Dusty's.
  3. Soto in AAA last year: .353/.424/.652 Ludwick in AAA two years ago (his last full minor league season): .266/.342/.506 In Ludwick's defense, I think it's been several years since he's been healthy and he's had quite a few injuries over the years that have prevented him from playing much. On the other hand, he's hitting a home run about every 10 PAs this year. Ridiculous. He's got to be juicing. There's no way he's that good. Not even over a short period of time.
  4. you mean aside from the roids? Yeah. Like maybe they're much better at stealing signs than other teams. Just a thought.
  5. It makes one wonder if they aren't somehow cheating ala the Patriots. I can understand catching lightning in the bottle but they've got 3, 4 guys like that every single year. No other team in the majors can hope for more than 1 guy like that in maybe a 2 or 3 year span. Seriously, it's ridiculous. And no, LaRussa is not just that damn good. Nobody is *that* good.
  6. Hell yeah. Why bother when you can sign these bozos and have them turn up gold every damn time?
  7. Great. The Cards now have 2 on 1 out because of another lucky junk hit by Izzy.
  8. Damn our Sham Closer. Damn him to hell.
  9. The Sham Closer thing is beginning to take on legendary proportions.
  10. I thought it was a slow gun, but Wood's throwing 94. I thought I saw a Marmol fastball @ 92 or 93 today. But I'm not sure.
  11. 2 saves, 4 opportunities. That must be why I'm nervous.
  12. Come on Kerry baserunners are the devil here.
  13. Ugh. What's Kerry's save % with one-run leads?
  14. I'm not comfortable going to the 9th with only a one run lead.
  15. Marmol came back strong, got through it.
  16. Sometimes when the angle is right Carlos looks a lot like Obama to me. I think it's the ears.
  17. Swinging at every junk pitch a reliver throws at you when your team could really use more offense isn't the best way to earn more playing time.
  18. This thing is shaping up perfectly for a pirates comeback. Way to tack on some insurance guys.
