  1. 5-3 Stros. Gallagher's done. Maybe for longer than just 5 days.
  2. I'm the most composed, least-apt poster around here to overreact. So I guess I'd make your 5.
  3. Can you blame them? This game is looking identical to last night. Chacon should not have gotten settled in like this. He's a bad pitcher. It's the top of the 5th. After the first, this team has put together a collection of horrid atbats, I think that's why people are frustrated. No patience after the first. Yesterday after the grand slam it was "calm down everyone we can get it back." Guess what. We didn't. Agreed, we will lose every game that we ever trail in for the remainder of the season Haha. Ur funny d00d.

  5. I'd like to keep it that way, but it won't happen playing like this.
  6. The starting rotation is still a problem on this team. We're going to see this alot.
  7. Well that was a sucky game now wasn't it. I think I'll mentally refuse to acknowledge tonight even happened. Much better that way.
  8. I don't get what the deal is with Sampson. He's posted a 15 ERA at home so far this year. Why can't we hit him? He's a clown, come on.
  9. +1 If it wasn't a family site, I'd put it in even more coloful terms.
  10. THE BULLS HAVE THE #1 FREAKING PICK!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111
  11. I noticed they are mentioning him more & more though. He's becoming very difficult to ignore.
  12. Padres: season over.
  13. Mid-90s FB (tops out at 97), plus slider, passable change. Hard thrower. Lemme guess... control issues? He has 8 walks to his 23 Ks in 21.2 IP so far this year at Iowa. Last year, he walked just 18 in 78.0 IP with 71 Ks at AA. He has also allowed just 1 HR this year and just 1 all of last season in the minors. He also walked 6 in 16 innings in Atlanta last year. Not bad control at all. Though, he was hit hard last year. I think he'll work out fine. Fox was a nice story, but he wasn't really doing anything.
  14. Great as his career was, at this point Mad Dog's not really providing much value out there. I don't think he's appreciably better than internal options we have available to replace Marquis -- namely, Marshall.
  15. I'm predicting he'll either make an out or get on base. Bucknor is behind the plate tonight? Demp is gonna be on the opposing end of some BS calls, methinks. Between Riley's blown HR call Sunday, and then both the bothched caught stealing and the bogus non-HR call in yesterday's Cub game, the umps are off to a great start this week.
  16. Pretty sure Houston did that a couple of years ago Also, Francisco Cordova Ricardo Rincon though that was in 10 innings I don't think I could rob a pitcher of a once-in-a-lifetime experience over 20 or 30 pitches. I'd rather be more cautious with him later, get him out of a game or two early sometime down the road.
  17. Dusty will ensure us that we have nothing to worry about when it comes to the Reds. I'm worried about it being his first season with them, because of '03 with us. But I hear you.
  18. I'm thinking the Reds might have enough to challenge now, strange as that sounds. They've probably got the pitching. Although I'm sure Yost won't get fired today, I would think that's definitely an option on the table for the organization now. There were very high expectations in Brewtown heading into this season, and you can argue injuries or this & that, but great expectations not met usually equals heads rolling.
  19. The last time he had a poor showing I heard he tipped really bad at the steakhouse that night. Bum.
  20. Unfortunately they've been winning with this. I would agree with you on Bourne (.192/.262/.276/.538), but not on Matsui (.283/.374/.396/.770). You're not reading that wrong, in 110 at bats, Matsui has done well for the Astros. Will he keep it up? Prolly not, but right now, he has to be taken as a semi-threat in the lineup. There's only two legit threat in the Astros lineup; Berkman and Lee. Tejada is a expensive singles hitter, and Pence is a swingaholic. Towles is the 3rd best catcher in the division (behind THE best catcher Soto, and the 2nd best catcher Molina). So if Dempster/Gallagher and Lilly keeps the bases empty then Berkman and Lee won't hurt the Cubs (and you know they will) as much. So I like the Cubs chance of taking atleast two from the Astros. edit: One more things....the Astros have Moehler (4.58 era), Sampson (6.46) and Chacon (4.14) going in the series. So if the Cubs don't take atleast two handily, I be disappointed. This series is definately looking like an opportunity for Lee and ARam to get their bats going. Let's hope it happens that way.
  21. I'm sure they'll now go on a winning streak because I posted this, but look at how dreadful the Crew have been lately: After beating STL 3/4, they are 1-5 in the past 6 games, on a 5 game losing streak. They have also dropped 9 straight on the road, a really bad indicator for the Crew because it can be argued their inability to get anything done on the road in '07 cost them the division title. They're desperate for a closer, desperate for bullpen help in general, and not really getting the solid starting performances from some of their starters like they had hoped. Due some unexpected decent play by the Pirates and Reds, they are now in last place in the division. Obviously it's not the end of the world, but I was suprised to see the Crew drop all the way down to the bottom.
  22. I'm concerned, but not overly so yet. Let's see how he is in a couple weeks. We're still winning ballgames because for the first time in a long while this ballclub has other players who can pick up the slack. We just won a series against the not-so-terrible Bucs and Lee & ARam both did nothing. I think they'll get pumping, probably just in time for a couple of the other guys to drop off a little. If all goes well, we'll have 3 guys streaking at the same time all year, and hence continue to be a good offense straight through.
  23. Unfortunately they've been winning with this.
