  1. So which guy is going to remember he is a sucky pitcher first, our guy or theirs?
  2. Anyone got the pitch speed on this guy? His fastball looks slow as hell. Of course, doesn't matter since we appear to want to give up outs.
  3. That was my first Cubs night game ever. Probably the craziest experience of my life. I think that one tops my list. I know the big comeback a couple days ago is fresh in everyone's mind, but there's never been anything like Mongo calling out the home plate ump from the press both. My God that was amazing. Hernandez's face....it's was just beet red with anger. Then the Gutierrez thing at the end. Total and complete madness.
  4. I wonder if he's going to extremes to prove he isn't laid back? Could be. I would have thought he would settle down after awhile though if he was "faking" it. He's keeping it up. Maybe it's pent up aggression from all those years with the Cubs when he was one of the few players on the field with a clue.
  5. He was on the DL for two weeks, which makes it hard to work on mechanics. It also sounded like he should've gotten through the third inning without giving up a run. The walks came early and he settled down a bit before the questionable IF single in the third opened things up. I'll be happy if he's ready to go by July 1st, although end of June certainly isn't out of the question. He's obviously not being rushed and still has some work to do, including building up some stamina. The same goes with Marshall. I gotcha. I thought he was struggling a bit before he hit the DL too though, but I suppose that could also be attributed to the injury or just the shock of finding himself back in Iowa.
  6. Haha, this made me laugh.
  7. He's dominated @ AAA many times though.
  8. Weird to see Hill struggle in AAA.
  9. If we didn't have an 8 game handicap, I might consider them a threat. I've seen 8 game leads disappear far to often to be comfortable though. Actually the Brewers can tell us a thing or two about 8 games leads that evaporate 8-)
  10. I think they're the scariest opponent for us in '08, to say nothing of '10.
  11. At first when I heard this I thought, "well of course." But then I read the article and it made me pretty sad. I have no ill will at all for Mark, I wish him well and it's really a shame what happened to him.
  12. I'm sure there will be periods when we aren't producing all that well. Even the best clubs go through that. But right now I'm much more concerned about sustained success from our starting rotation.
  13. Those stupid Cubs. They're so dumb, putting together the best team in baseball and winning all the time. Hendry and Lou should be fired. Demoting Pie and signing and playing Edmonds has nothing to do with the Cubs winning. But, if it makes you happy... You mean you don't believe in the miracle of Edmonds getting up off the mat for one last hurrah in the face of his old team? I'm not sure I do either. But I'm certainly not booing when he hits one of the ballpark, that's for sure.
  14. If I believed in jinxes, I'd sit Mike Brown for the first couple games to clear the jinx period. But I don't believe in jinxes.
  15. I don't remember Dusty ever saying something like this. As far as I'm concerned, this proves Lou is much more conscious of the health of his starters' arms. He might stretch the pitch count of a guy for awhile, but if he follows this stated philosophy, he'll make up for it later.
  16. If he keeps up what he's been doing lately, I won't mind. Won't mind at all.
  17. Alright, now I'm convinced. Board character. No. He's really the Cubs GM.
  18. I've seen it work, actually. More than once. I wish they'd just start calling it what it is: a balk, due to deliberate deception.
  19. This is simply not a very positive development.
  20. Honestly, Madison does not have its share of 9s and 10s. It was kind of rare to see them out there. However, it wasn't until I left for Cleveland that I realized what Madison lacked in quality it made up for in solid quantity. There were a ton of 6s and 7s in Madison. Poor Cleveland. Come to think of it, the last time I was in Cleveland the female showing at the ballpark was pretty pathetic. Yesterday at Wrigley, that was more like it :)
  21. He's making some solid contact. Too much for me to feel comfortabl.
  22. I'd rather it not be Helton hitting right here.
