  1. Does anyone still remember when ARam was struggling?
  2. Damn you OO, you beat me to it.
  3. This kind of argument sounds familiar...hmmmm... http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/457/scarecrowoz4222bv2.gif ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawman
  4. k thnx idiot Give me a break. People were jumping with joy around here when the Pujols news broke. That's an exaggeration at best. I think the most excited reactions came from those that don't want Cardinals' fans to have an excuse that they didn't win the division, which is hardly jumping for joy. I just think its ridiculous to post something like that when within the past 24 hours there have been plenty of posts about how great it was for Pujols to get hurt. Please find these quotes. I don't remember anything similar to "hopefully its broken". Call me insensitive but I don't see why it's such a big deal. As long as it's not career threatening, why do you have to hope that a great player on a competing team isn't injured? Pujols is making a ton of money and will be able to resume his career fully so if it helps the Cubs chances, I hope he's out for a while. Not considered very good sportsmanship. Plus, how would you feel if you broke a bone and heard someone on the opposing bench say, "good! hope he's out for awhile!" I'm not saying people were saying that about Pujols in the other forum though, because I really didn't read that thread much so I don't know.
  5. Hah, I saw that too. What does that mean? It means his balls were itchy so he couldn't make a good call.
  6. Yeah, they're in a pool alright. It's called "Friends of Donaghy."
  7. WTF? That wasn't even close to a strike!
  8. Three straight hits from the murderer's row of LaRue, Looper, and Ryan. Well, on the bright side, at least the Cards are putting away Dusty Baker's Reds -- probably for good. I was getting a tad nervous about them. If the Cards can put away the Stros, Crew, and Reds......then collapse later on, I think we'll all take it. The Reds were in last place and were 3-5 in their last two series before they played the Cards. I know, but they brought up Bruce who caught fire, and their pitching looked like it might have the capability of gelling together for them and producing a run. They seemed like a more dangerous team to me about a week ago. Now they're going to be 11.5 out, pretty much done.

  10. I bet it's broken. of course YOU do. It's a fastball right off the hand that is clutching a bat. That most likely will result in a broken bone from what I've seen. Just being honest. What exactly have you seen? An awful lot of situations just like this one that resulted in a broken bone, that's what I've seen. There's no point hiding our heads in the sand because of Cub bias. The man just took a fb off a part of the body that has very little protective flesh and a very hard object underneath. There's a strong possibility it's broken, that's all I'm saying. I amazed at how many people confuse this for wanting it to be broken, which I most definitely do NOT. I'm not saying that you want it to be broken. I'm not saying anything is or isn't broken, because I have no idea at this point. But unless you have some specific context for forecasting the extent of his injury, like significant medical experience, your predictions are probably not much more unbiased or accurate than anyone else's here. If you do have some significant experience with diagnosing or treating sports injuries or in any other related field of medicine, I'm sure everyone would like to hear your insights. Otherwise, it's fine to make predictions, whether you are professionally certified to do so or not. But your predictions aren't necessarily less biased or more accurate. I totally accept that. Why can't I give my opinion on the matter, or prediction, just because it's not backed up with medical science? I never said my opinion is worth more than anyone else's.
  11. Jimmy Ed! Channel Gaetti all you want, bud.
  12. That time he was trying to back Fuku off so he could throw outside, which he tried on the next pitch. Maybe not trying to hit him, but definitely attempting to move the hitter off with a pitch.

  15. He'd be out over a month, definitely.
  16. This isn't the first time a Brave has taken a shot at one of our players. I'm not convinced that was an accident.
  17. So Forte' and Benson are essentially the same back, yet we got Forte' for a 2nd round contract and Benson for a King's ransom. This is one reason why I'm not all that big on mega-bucks RBs. Too much value can be found later, for cheaper, at that position.
  18. Wow who is this [expletive] anyway? He sounds like the kind of South Side trash I normally don't give the time of day. He writes for a major newspaper? LOL.
  19. Look at his minor league success. He was very, very, very good as a starter. Show me who will get batters out reliably like Marmol in the 8th inning, and I'll support a move to the rotation for him. It's not like Lou hasn't been trying to find someone else to help in that regard. Nobody on our current roster has been able to be as reliable in that role. You understand we're talking about '09, right? Guys pop up and become good to great relievers all the time. Marmol and Wuertz are examples of this on our roster alone. Good to great starters do not come out of nowhere unless they're instructed by Dave Duncan, so it might be more efficient to use Marmol in the rotation. And Marmol has a 3rd pitch, a changeup, that he doesn't need to use in the pen. It's not filthy, and still needs some refinement, but it's not as if he was a 2 pitch pitcher throughout the minors. No, I didn't understand you were talking about '09  We better hire Dave Duncan just to be sure it works out

  21. Whole team goes down with injury, and yet they still keep winning. Sheesh. Oh well, at least they put the Stros out of it (them & the Crew), and now they'll end any remaining hope the Reds might have had.
  22. It's what I expect people to SAY in the heat of the moment during a game, but in a format like this, you have to actually type it out and then hit submit, which should allow even just a little restraint. Yea, I've always thought the same thing. While I'll swear at the TV and say stuff like "Damnit Aramis, you suck, WTF!" I've never actually felt inclined to type it out and post it... I agree, but clearly some people prefer typing it out. Maybe it's a way of venting. That's exactly what it is for me. If the rules are changed where it is no longer allowed, then I'll stop. Otherwise, I wish people would understand that it's just like anyone else at a game or watching TV with their friends.
