  1. OOOh, he's not finished. Lou's gonna see to that.
  2. Special teams isnt giving him enough of a hole to start a return. One he gets going, he has enough time to juke and if needed accelerate to full speed (like what you saw on that kickoff return) I think the Special Teams misses Ayenbadejo. That man was a human wedge. Yep. He is missed.
  3. Me, too, even when we make the playoffs. Maybe it's more summer ending? Baseball is my No. 1 sport, and nothing else fills it for me. I feel this way more when football season ends than baseball season. Plus, football's offseason is longer.
  4. If the Packers have to go with Flynn for significant games this year, then this division is wide open. Even with Rodgers, it's looking more & more like teams are starting to confuse him more. Although I still think he's at least a serviceable QB. I'm very surprised to find that we're in first place today, so that's a good thing .500 record or not.
  5. Zac Zaidman(sp?) the Bears sideline reporter for 680 and contibutor to WSCR was on this morning and had this to say. When he asked Kyle Orton what Philly did different in the 2nd half to slow him down, his response was " I honestly dont know, I just dont know". Thats not a good thing that our starting QB has no idea what adjustments were made against him. Well, but that's why he's still an inexperienced QB, and why he looked bad. The fact is, the Eagles are one of the best, if not the best, pressure defenses in the league. They're going to come at you from a number of different angles, switch things up, confuse you. Kyle obviously got pretty confused in the 2nd half -- along with the rest of the blocking. Big Ben was pretty confused the week before too.
  6. Gammons picked the Dodgers last night on SportsCenter. It should be a good series. I'm curious, what was his rationale?
  7. Because I'm an optimist and the Dodgers are not that good. Manny is good and their pitching is good, the team collectively is not. The point is, in a short series, the better team doesn't always win. A case can be made, for example, that we weren't the better team in '03 in the NLDS. But because we won the pitching matchups with Prior & Wood, the Braves' # of regular season wins meant little, and they were an early exit. I'm not saying that I'm shaking in my boots or anything, but the Dodgers are a tougher draw than the Mets would have been. We should still be able to take them.
  8. Interesting, hadn't thought about Baltimore since they've only played two games. Is it safe to assume, though, that according to the data if the Titans beat the Ravens Sunday, they will then be the best team in the AFC? :D I guess so. The Titans are one of the better stories in the NFL right now.
  9. We knew that the Cubs would get evening/night slots if they faced the Dodgers. The daytime starts would only have been if the Cubs faced the Mets or Phillies. So everything changed when Lou decided Howry was a good pitcher to face Braun. IT'S NOT MY DAMN FAULT.
  10. Unless I counted wrong, they were 15-11 against teams with winning records the second half, and 3-0 in Sept. Other than one series against the Pirates, they played the whole month of Sept against the NL west, and only 3 of those games were against the D-Backs( the only other NL West above .500). The Cubs were 27-21 vs teams with a winning record in the second half( 23 more games than the Dodgers), and 11-10 in Sept, despite having clinched prior to their last two series. The Cubs have played a much tougher schedule, at least in the second half. I didn't look at the first half. Does that all mean much, I doubt it. But there is an obvious difference in schedule strength. So they played 3 games against winning teams in Sept? Wow.
  11. Wait, does this mean we have to hold off on the Cowboys' coronation party? Darn, I wanted free beer.
  12. Sure, on a couple plays but frankly I'd rather him do that when under extreme pressure than try to force the ball into all kinds of coverage. On the last one you could clearly see on the replay there was nobody open. He needs to cover up the ball better than that, but taking a sack or two rather than risking INTs is something I'm not going to jump on Kyle for, especially when he really didn't have much time all night, and he was getting rid of the ball alright many other times.
  13. halftime was the worst thing that could have happened to him Desmond Clark was the worth thing to happen to him last night. Well, aside from the offensive line. I'll put it in context though. That D line destroyed Big Ben last week too. We won't be facing many teams that can dial up that kind of pressure. Clark didn't have a banner day, true.
  14. It's kind of funny, because as much as Orton was under pressure yesterday, I'm pretty sure Rex would have been killed. One thing I believe Kyle is doing better than Rex ever did is recognizing the defense at the line of scrimmage and calling his own protections. It worked for 2 quarters yesterday -- then something happened and he wasn't getting the same protection afterwards. It was probably some really good halftime adjustments by the Eagles. But overall I still think Kyle is doing a much better job of this -- and he has to with this line.
  15. I'm happy for Brewer fans who have had nothing to cheer about for so long. But I'm angry that Lou -- even in a "meaningless" situation like yesterday -- STILL pitches Howry to Braun. He basically said "Here Brewers, here's a batting practice AB for Braun so if you want the playoffs just take it." If he does this in the playoffs I think I'm going to lose my mind.
  16. Congrats Brewers. And if CC's arm is fine next year, I'll be very comfortable declaring him to be one of the most durable pitchers I've ever seen.
  17. Hey, at least he throws strikes which get hit hard. Lou won't be convinced Howry sucks until he blows the season for us.
  18. Unless he has something positive to say about the Cubs, which he seldom does, Gracie is dead to me.
  19. So I get up this morning and all I hear is "the Cubs are screwed because they drew the red-hot Dodgers" talk. WTF?
  20. OK, so now I look like an idiot because I told all my friends over the weekend that the Cubs would be playing day games for games 1 & 2. What happened?
  21. I was really, really wrong about this game. Still though, I think it's worth noting (not to rain on everyone's parade, but...) that the offense basically shut down again in the 2nd half, and the defense indeed started giving up yards in the 4th quarter just as they had in weeks 2 and 3. Great stop at the end, but it was more of the same from this team. They are a terror in the 4th quarter, and if they don't get that under control it's going to be very painful to watch the rest of the season. I can't think of a reason why, with the Bears up 7 points and our offense inside the 20, and the Eagles without Westbrook, that we shouldn't have at least had a 10 point lead in the 4th and held on to win much more convincingly in front of the home crowd. Maybe I'm too greedy.
  22. I must have missed it. What did he say?
  23. I hope Angelo has learned his lesson. No more top 5 RB picks, it just isn't necessary.
  24. Forte! Someone on this offense has some G-D life left in him.
  25. From the overhead cam it looked like he was in. The overhead is behind the line of scrimmage, it's not a good angle. The sideline view showed he didn't make it. Reid isn't going to risk a timeout when he's going to get the ball right back in our territory.
