  1. Given the timing of the sale, I did not think "nothing" was a terrible idea for last offseason. Bringing Hendry back after this year however would be an inexcusable mistake. It felt like it was more than just an action-oriented person taking stock of the situation. It felt like he was a bit bewildered, and had a tendency to back off to non-action.
  2. This is what I was afraid of when Ricketts came in and promptly did....................nothing. It wasn't a good sign.
  3. Sounds like a team that gets to the 2nd round. After that........dicey. Considering their options and where they were last year, this team is a good 10-15 games better. Their glaring issues last year were three point shooting and interior scoring, and they added the second-best interior option and the best 3 point shooter in the NBA. The bench is upgraded from Flip Murray/Hakim Warrick/Brad Miller/Jannero Pargo to likely Taj Gibson/Kyle Korver/CJ Watson/Omer Asik. Rose and Noah should keep improving, and the upgrade from Gibson to Boozer is huge. This was about as well as they could have done this offseason having struck out on the big 3. Understood, but they'd probably run into one of Boston, Orlando, or Miami in the 2nd round. I'd like our chances against Boston the most. Regardless, I think that's the point where it becomes a question whether they would advance further.

  5. Yes, I enjoyed the Cup. I would not get much enjoyment from watching DVDs of the games later on though. It already happened. I know it happened. If a game was on ESPN classic while I was flipping through channels, then I could see watching it for a few minutes, but actually putting it in the DVD player and watching the whole thing wouldn't do much for me. If it's 20 years from now and they haven't won another cup it's only going to start annoying me to see video of when they were good. 85 Bears highlights aren't fun anymore. I agree to an extent, but I still get some enjoyment from seeing the old highlights when we're talking about exceptional events such as a Championship run. It *does* piss me off to see '85 Bear highlights and know we aren't close to that good now. But I still enjoy seeing those Wilbur Marshall hits every once in awhile. Or Jimmy Mac's crazy antics.
  6. Depends what's on the video. It's like anything else. It can be done quickly, cheaply, and in mediocre fashion. Or it can be really well done with great content and good production. With how quickly this came out, it doesn't surprise me to hear the lukewarm comments.
  7. Most amazing Hawks moment. I still lose my [expletive] thinking about that diving empty netter in the olympics against Canada. Most amazing Hawks moment, yes. I can't forget about the boys of Lake Placid...
  8. Yeah, that was well beyond belief. Most amazing hockey moment I've ever seen.
  9. I'm looking forward to seeing if Martz' scheme can utilize him as a great slot target. It might not be a matter of Hester being legit or not, but rather being used in a way that plays to his strengths more.
  10. Wind appears to be blowing out to right center, at least for the time being.
  11. My best guess - and it is just a guess - is that new managerial candidates will be informed that Larry & Rudy come with the job. Larry because he's good. Rudy because he's hopefully going to have better results next year, and he costs too much to not work.
  12. You do if your top player is LeBron, Kobe, or Wade. Rose is not the type of player who will be the man on a championship winning team. He is a great player, but not good enough to do that. you have no idea where Rose will go from here. He's shown great signs of continued development the short time he's played in the NBA. I think it's pretty clear he won't be a top 5 player like LBJ, Kobe and Wade. But I'm also pretty confident he will be good enough to be "the man" on a championship winning team. He's not loud, boistrous, or an egomaniacal jerk. He's also shown solid maturity for his age, unlike Lebron. You'll have to excuse me, but I'm not going to count those qualities against him at the ripe old age of 21 until I see what develops in the coming years.

  14. This was the only Cubs game I'll be at all year (also the bleachers) and that's what I seen. Those bleachers were the worst place in the world to be for that game, too. The Sun just pounding everyone into submission for hours. A close game so you felt like you needed to stay. Then a debacle right at the end to cap off everyone's pre-heat stroke headache! Good times.
  15. We might not score. Especially if Soto serves jail time. Yea. I'll be at this game tonight. With a 3 hour drive ahead of me and work bright and early the next day, I'm pulling the plug if we are getting beat badly. I guess the most likely happy scenario would be a repeat of yesterday's scratch-out-a-run effort, only without the 9th inning collapse.
  16. Man. Soooo frustrating watching this from the bleachers today. You've got Marmol walking the damn world and then Soto dropping the game winning peg from the outfield. It's just not quality baseball anymore from this club. Changes please.
  17. After reading that, I'm really glad Rose didn't fall all over himself to drool over James, like so many others. Great article.
  18. If it means reload/develop a little this year, and then make another serious run next year, I'm OK with that. I still think we're a team to watch. Doesn't anyone think Kane/Toews are still not at their peak besides me? I think they'll be even better next year.
  19. Were the Magic already over the cap? Let's say they were, say, $4 million under the cap before they matched. Then they would only be paying $10 mlilion more for Redick. I believe I read they were already fully over.
  20. I'm going to have to see it in-season before I buy it. Hard to tell how it translates to an actual game situation Yeah, that's how I'm taking it too. Though as a Bulls fan I simply can't resist perking up when I hear him say it, even though I must be skeptical as well.
  21. LeBron is making what, 15 million? Well Redick is only getting 7M. It's more fun to think he's being paid like LeBron though. Somewhere Dickie V. is excitedly typing an article about how Coach K. helped JJ earn this big money deal. Redick gets 7 of it. But that's pretty insane to pay out 14m for him. Have fun watching Redick not earn the payout. BTW, did any of you hear that Rose says he feels his 3 is much futher along than he had hoped it would be? Anyone think he's not just blowing smoke? Rose with a 3 is scary.
  22. That's cruel. But yeah, it gave me a good chuckle. It loaded slow for me too, so I was wondering "WTF why is Huet on a cover for NHL 11?"
  23. LOL yeah. "Hey, I'm feeling much better NOW!"
  24. Pargo's triumphant return 8-)
  25. well, that's gotta all but seal it that the hawks will fit under the cap and probably be able to bring back niemi. That would be great!
