    I'm pretty optimistic that Turco will be fine. I'd rather have just about anyone backing him up other than Huet, who I would have been happy to never see play for the Hawks again about 2/3 of the way through last season. Turco/Crawford seems like a reasonable alternative to Niemi/Huet. Would I rather see Niemi return to defend the Cup? You bet. But I won't be whining and crying about it.

    I don't have much problem keeping Olsen around right now. Maybe the Bears asked for too much, but whatever. Doesn't really bother me.

    Boers, Bernstien and Zaidman all thought it sounded like trouble on the radio...was glad to get home and read this... Sounds more like trouble to me than nothing. Pulled groins can linger.

    Yeah, just shed cash. As much as we can. 2011 will probably be all about looking at the progress of young players, for me.

    What Lovie says means nothing to me, as well. His press conferences are like verbal unisom for me.

    I'm still hoping for pass protection improvement by virtue of what I saw from Chris Williams late in the season. Maybe I'm crazy, but if CW solidifies as a pass blocker that's a large part of protecting Cutler right there. I'm not delusional enough to think this is going to be a good line, but the beginning of the year last season was nightmarishly bad. If Cutler can get decent blind side protection early in the season this time around, maybe he can settle in more as the season progresses and, hopefully, improve that TD/INT ratio.

    I love how Bowman just took care of business quick. It's done, just like that. No need to mull it over for days or weeks. I haven't really followed Turco recently, but look at the dollars -- that's a good deal. I fully expect, however, to hear alot of hand wringing in the Chicago press over this because our SC winning goalie is gone immediately following the Championship.

    But that's kind of the problem with guys getting older anyway. He's not technically old, but physically he probably is. A step or two slower than his heyday and injury prone is the heart of the problem with the defense. The Tommie thing just hurts because he would've likely gotten more years at above-average performance than he's going to wind up getting. But, that's football. It's always something that can happen to a guy.

    I'm torn on it. Can't decide whether I want to keep Niemi or try for a cheaper alternative. Seems crazy, but October's really not that far away. This thing needs to be tied off one way or the other so we can move forward.

    please don't assume that anything he says is based in any well thought-out plan he's easily the dumbest-sounding ballplayer i've ever heard talk, and that's including Vitters LOL, I'll have to take that into account.

    I think Jay also did some really great things last year. Yes they were overshadowed by the INTs somewhat. But I'm allowing for a first year with a new team as well. I think he'll improve, and Bear fans need to show a little more patience with their QBs -- a problem that has been present in this city for quite awhile, IMO.

    Pitchers: roiding to heal up. Hitters: roiding to heal up, but also to increase power. Maybe there's that imbalance between the expected benefits of juicing depending on if you are a hitter or a pitcher. Just a wild guess.

    Laying the groundwork for negotiations, probably. Many guys could retire financially. Few actually do when faced with the prospect of a boatload more money from somewhere.

    Probably more than one team will be interested in him as a project. Not sure where the Bears will fall on that spectrum.

    Yes, yes. Technically 2 PGs. Take out bad ump calls and no replay to correct them -- it's 3.

    I just enjoy the snub of TMac after he passed on us back in the day. Just feels good to my vindictive side :twisted: Eat it, TMac.

    Outside of Orton, how many bad QBs have good W/L records? Orton's record is already beginning to crumble. In the end, he will be sub .500. Your sins find you out. I guess it depends on how you define bad. I don't think Kyle's bad when compared to, say, Rick Mirer. There's similar stories to Orton out there. How about Jim Miller? 15-12 career record (God, I didn't realize he started so few games). Kordell Stewart went 48-34 yet was always a source of argument and consternation in both Pittsburgh and Chicago. Neil O'Donnell -- I'd describe him as decidedly average, yet posted a 55-45 overall record with some pretty solid Steelers clubs and a decent Jets team in '97

    Archie has a career QB rating of 67. He finished with 125 touchdowns and 173 interceptions. His record as a starter was 35–101–3 (26.3%), the worst in NFL history among QB's with at least 100 starts. He just wasn't that good (although I admit never saw him play). He's also got to be the only QB in history to post a 60+ completion percentage and 3,700 yards passing on a 1-15 ballclub. He went to 2 pro bowls on .500 to sub .500 ballclubs. He's not really able to be evaluated in a vacuum because he played on clubs that might've lost to college teams, and that's really the whole point.

    I see guys in history like Archie Manning, Jim Plunkett, even Fran Tarkenton, Joe Namath.... The records aren't all that great yet these guys distinguished themselves. What are we supposed to think of a guy like Tarkenton if the record means so much? He played on some stinker Vikes & Gnats teams that brought his record down. I saw that guy do things in the pocket that I've scarcely seen since and once he had the team behind him with the Vikes he was pure magic. I'm sorry, but "QB record" is a misnomer and a stupid stat, just like "pitcher record" is.

    Earlier this morning I heard a blurb that the Bulls really aren't interested in signing McGrady anyway. I read another blurb that says the Bulls are concerned about the same thing that I and others eluded to.
