  1. Think I'd rather have Gamble as GM than or whoever.
  2. Why Wolf, given his extremely close ties to all things Packers? I'd take the whole damn Packers staff if I could. Me too. That's not what I'm saying. If Wolf would actually come to the Bears, I'd put him on the short list for sure. I'm just finding it difficult to believe that Ron Wolf's son would consider it, especially since there other opportunities right now. If he wants to come to the Bears, heck bring him in. I'll believe it when I see it.
  3. Why Wolf, given his extremely close ties to all things Packers?
  4. I think it is. I'll take it at face value, since the reality is that the best candidates are likely to be the restricted ones in terms of interviews.
  5. Oh my God. Tell DeCosta he can do whatever he wants with Phillips. Exactly. If that's what it really is, they need to at least let the guy know they are willing to be more flexible than they were before. If he doesn't realize it already.
  6. Is this some hurt feeling [expletive] because he turned us down last time? Dumb. The other way around, more likely. DeCosta doesn't want to work for a [expletive].
  7. I am right not to trust this [expletive] I'll say this, you have a strong opinion on him :) I can't disagree because the Bears consistently bork up their hirings.
  8. On the Marinelli/Arians thing: Arians came out earlier this year and said the Bears were telling him he had to keep certain coaches. It was one of the reasons he walked away. My immediate assumption was Marinelli, although obviously I didn't have anything to prove that. But there was no reason for Arians to lie about it. No reason for him to even talk about it actually.
  9. Surely better than Phillips drawing names from a hat.
  10. Couldn't watch this dammit.
  11. Probably right. Rodgers is one of the league's golden boys. Which makes Suh even more an idiot. I would laugh at this but the Bears are even more adept at self-sabotage than the Lions
  12. These radio guys are speculating that maybe the Kromer announcement was punishment from the team for being involved with the unraveling. They didn't announce Tucker but he will not be kept by any likely new head coach. When the new coach candidate comes in he'll be told Tucker comes with the package. Take it or leave it.
  13. Now I'm starting to enjoy this. We love to bash each other over the head.
  14. Long hasn't head any other coach though...so it's understandable from him. He has no other point of reference. Not sure I buy that. He did play under Kelly @ Oregon, a great program and Kelly hasn't done all that bad in Philly so far. I think he's seen better coaching than Trestman. It's still a bizarre statement for me.
  15. Yeah well, they can be the greatest in the world at lots of things, but the wins didn't happen end of story. Is BMarsh saying he doesn't get this? Weird stuff coming out today. Heard Kyle Long talking this morning about how great Trestman is, too. OK, so what? He didn't win.
  16. Things were a ton different. GMs weren't promised a clean slate then. I get what you're saying Wrigley. Not saying you are wrong either, but they absolutely should give it a try.
  17. Again, if the Bears approach it like this they are giving up too easily.
  18. Just don't see it happening. He's got a great ready made gig and family ties in Balt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Don't give up so easily. Aggressively pursue the man, who knows what will happen. Maybe Newsome will be in Baltimore for several more years, who knows.
  19. Obviously DeCosta is the premium hire. Not sure why Biggs included Wolf. Not that he wouldn't eventually go for a GM role but to the Bears? I'd want to hear more on why he would consider that.
  20. McClay would be nice. Now I need to start doing some research on candidates. Initial research on McClay complete. He has extensive experience in the Arena Football league as a coach. Does this sound at all familiar, Cali?
  21. Well duh, they were terrible as opposed to winning 10 in Lovie's last year. Plus, Trestman is weird. His last day with the Bears was the same as all the previous days.
  22. Offense great in '13, bad in '14 with the same players. That's got nothing to do with Emery. I think Emery did good enough things to get him some extra time. Hirung a weird ass coach was not one of those things. Apparently Silver is saying Emery's biggest mistake was firing Lovie (I didn't see it though -- just a retweet). While I agree he wound up a terrible coach in Trestman, to me that's where the bad decision lies. I wouldn't expect a GM to just stay with a coach that he never hired and didn't feel like was the best guy moving forward.
  23. Who is he close to that would be his coordinators? No idea. He has ties to Philly, Chicago and KC, so obviously a lot of coaches that also have ties to Lovie and Andy Reid, as well as John Harbaugh (the ST coordinator in Philly when Toub was his asst). Brad Childress was on those Philly staffs and is currently with KC. Leslie Frazier was also on that Philly staff and could theoretically be given a promotion to assistant head coach if taken from Lovie's staff. Steve Spagnuolo would be another potential candidate. None of those guys excite me Not me either, which is why I mentioned Toub. They have a tendency to look at guys with prior attachment to the Bears, and he's the closest former coordinator who has interviewed with multiple teams. I am guessing they were never embarrassed like this during Lovie era and have some hopes of returning to that style. Toub is probably more fiery but could theoretically return to "how things should be run", especially if he has multiple former head coaches on his staff under him. Why wouldn't the new GM hire who he wants?
  24. McClay would be nice. Now I need to start doing some research on candidates.
